Video: robotic marimba player grooves autonomously with jazz pianist
We've seen an orchestra's worth of robotic musicians, but we've yet to see one that integrates this perfectly into a piece without any human intervention. Shimon -- a robotic marimba player created by MIT's Guy Hoffman, Gil Weinberg (the director of the Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology) and Roberto Aimi of Alium Labs -- recently made its stage debut by sensing the music from a piano and reacting accordingly in order to provide complementary percussion. T-Mobile USA has sold 1 million Androïd telephones in 6 months
T-mobile announced that in 6 months they have sold 1 million telephones based on Android, the OS of Google. Even if this figure is far below that reached by the iPhone, it is very good for an OS that is in constant evolution.
Even though there is nothing for Apple to fear, this type of announcement must worry Microsoft who see more and more purchasers of advanced telephones moving away from the aging Windows Mobile. After all, its last version, 6.5, was only a restoration of the facade intended to make one forget a little of the heaviness behind a tactile interface. They will have extremely strong to be able to make a noise about taking the initiative, especially as Androïd is en route to moving from the phones to the NetBooks, a market where Microsoft have only Windows XP.

Samsung's rumored I7500 set to be its first Android outing?
We dig Android set rumors, even more so when they're mumbling about Samsung's first foray into the land of the Android OS. We'd initially heard Samsung's S8000 Cubic might well be the first Android set launched, but the::unwired's reporting that the Samsung I7500 will be the one to watch. Nikon's D5000 DSLR unboxed ahead of schedule
Well, well -- what have we here? With 24 hours to go before Nikon's D5000 hits the streets (at least at Amazon), one lucky soul has managed to stumble upon one early. Kinderporno-Sperren werden in Echtzeit überwacht
Nachdem das Bundeskabinett am Mittwoch den Entwurf der Gesetzesinitiative zur Sperrung kinderpornografischer Internetseiten verabschiedete, wurden nun weitere Details zur Stopp-Schild-Seite bekannt. Bald keine Nvidia-Chipsätze mehr für AMD?
Aktuell gehen Intel und Nvidia gegeneinander vor, weil laut Intel die bisherige Chipsatz-Vereinbarung für die eigenen Prozessoren der neuen Nehalem-Generation nicht gilt und Nvidia damit keine Chipsätze fertigen darf. AMD sticht jetzt genau in die gleiche Kerbe.

Neues Aldi-Notebook ab Montag

Im Test: Coole Produkte für heiße Notebooks
Notebookbesitzer, die ihr Gerät auch auf dem Sofa oder im Bett benutzen, kennen oft das Problem, dass nach kurzer Zeit die Unterseite des Gerätes zu heiß wird und man sich dort regelrecht verbrennen kann. Auch Markenhersteller wie Apple sind von dieser Problematik nicht freizusprechen.

Boeing's Airborne Laser begins flight tests, future uncertain
Boeing was pretty bullish about its aircraft-mounted laser system only a few short months ago, but it looks the program's future is now considerably more uncertain, even as the sole aircraft to be equipped with the rig begins its first flight tests. 3 UK promises free mobile Skype calls until the end of time
While most carriers are having quite a tift about Skype intruding on their territory, UK-based 3 is letting customers use unlimited Skype-to-Skype calls and messages without any extra fees. The new rules start May 1st for any compatible 3 headset, and later this summer it'll expand to every 3G phone on the network.
