Seit dem 19.März haben wir probeweise ein Bewertungssystem für Beiträge im Forum freigeschaltet. In der rechten oberen Ecke jedes Beitrages findet man zwei Knöpfe, um den jeweiligen Beitrag mit gut oder schlecht bewerten zu können. Erreicht ein Beitrag eine bestimmte Anzahl positiver Bewertungen,

The company's latest, dubbed the LPC-625F, is a 7.9- x 7.9- x 2.4-inch machine that somehow houses a 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of RAM, your choice of 2.5-inch HDD or SSD, integrated Intel graphics, gigabit Ethernet and a surprisingly plentiful array of ports including HDMI, four USB 2.0, RS-232 and DVI. Liest man sich Apples aktuellen Education-Newsletter aufmerksam durch, so ist hier nicht nur die Rede von den Anfang März aktualisierten iMacs, sondern auch von einem 17"-Modell für nur 899,- Dollar. Es wäre nicht das erste Mal, dass Apple ein Modell nur für den Bildungsmarkt anbietet und das Gerät nicht im regulären Apple Store aufführt. Apple education newsletter hints at new 17-inch iMac
Don't disregard that eerie feeling of déjà vu -- you're right on track, Sherlock. Around three years ago, Apple decided to nix its aging CRT-based eMac while introducing a lower-end 17-inch iMac to fill the void. Today, we're staring a March 2009 education newsletter in the face with an awfully similar message, save for the fact that there's no eMac-like line to bury. Amazon Musikdownload noch vor Ostern
Wenn wir der Financial Times glauben wollen, startet Amazon Deutschland in den nächsten drei Wochen den Vertrieb von Musikdownloads. In den USA verkauft das Internetkaufhaus bereits seit Herbst 2007 MP3-Dateien - ohne DRM, qualitativ hochwertig und oft günstiger als iTunes. Sofern die Meldung stimmt, darf man sich also auf verstärkten Wettbewerb mit allen Vorteilen für die Kunden freuen.

Netflix headed for the Wii?
There's a new survey from Netflix making the rounds, asking customers if they'd like to watch Netflix on the Wii. The service would apparently require a $9.99 "Netflix Instant Streaming Disc," which users could pop into the system when they wanted to watch -- far be it from Nintendo to offer a firmware update. While many of the folks we know are already getting Netflix on their Xboxen, the Wii would obviously let Netflix hit a lot more households with those Instant Watch goodies, if this ever comes to pass. As for Sony, it's still denying any plans for Netflix on the PS3, but perhaps this would help change its mind (and won't involve another $10 DVD -- we

Google hat für seine kostenlosen Gmail-Konten (Googlemail in Deutschland, Österreich und Großbritannien) eine neue Funktion: eben versendete E-Mails lassen sich zurück holen. Wer also zu schnell auf "Senden" geklickt hat und das bereut, kann mit Hilfe der "Undo"-Funktion seine Mail widerrufen.

Intel: Viele 45-nm-Notebook-CPUs laufen aus

TV-Kabelverband: Bandbreiten von über 100 MBit/s realistisch
Swisscable, der Wirtschaftsverband der Schweizer Kabelnetzbetreiber, will Stärken beim schnellen Internet besser ausnutzen. "Während andere Anbieter gezwungen sind, Glasfasernetze zu bauen, ist die Leistungsfähigkeit der Kabelnetze noch lange nicht ausgeschöpft", erklärte Präsident Hajo Leutenegger in Bezug auf DOCSIS 3.0. Die in den aktuellen Nano- und Classic-Modellen versteckte Aufnahmefunktion dürften den meisten unserer Leser inzwischen ebenso bekannt sein wie die Tatsache, dass sich auch der iPod touch 2G zusammen mit der passenden Software als Diktiergerät verwenden lässt.

Aus für Woz' Tanzkarriere?
Wenig filigran aber dafür umso charmanter schwebte Apple-Mitbegründer Steve Wozniak für die TV-Sendung "Dancing with the Stars" bereits zweimal über das Parkett. Der von den Kritikern als "verrückter Teletubby" beschriebene Woz zog mit seinen technisch eher weniger überzeugenden Auftritten die Fans auf seine Seite, die ihn auch in die dritte Runde wählten. Das Weiterkommen könnte ihm nun aber anderweitig verwehrt bleiben: Wegen einer Verletzung am Bein musste er gestern ins Krankenhaus gebracht werden.

Songtexte am Mac: Get Lyrical
Nichts geht über eine gepflegte iTunes-Bibliothek. Wenn alle Standard-Tags inklusive Coverabbildungen optimiert sind, macht man sich am besten gleich ans hinzufügen der Songtexte. Dafür haben zwar bereits eine Menge Tools vorgestellt, aber das kostenlose Get Lyrical für den Mac ist uns bislang entgangen.
Get Lyrical greift auf das Lyric Wiki und kann die Texte sowohl für eine spezielle Auswahl Songs wie auch für den aktuellen Titel suchen (Active Tagging). Gefundene und zu den Titeln hinzugefügte Texte werden beim Active Tagging durch ein kleines grünes Kontrolllämpchen angezeigt. Sucht man die Texte für eine Auswahl von Songs, so kann man sich die nicht gefundenen Titel hinterher in einer Wiedergabeliste anzeigen lassen.

Es ist bekannt, dass Konkurrenz das Geschäft belebt. Aber wenn eine Firma die Andere grundlos beschimpft, steht eine der Beiden meistens recht lächerlich da. Steve Ballmer, CEO von Microsoft, behauptete diese Woche: 'Apple lässt sich das Firmlogo von den Kunden mit mindestens 500 Dollar bezahlen!'

Test: Nvidia Ion vs. Intels Referenzmodell
Spätestens zum Sommer soll mit Nvidias Ion-Plattform ein weiteres Schwergewicht den Markt der kleinen PCs betreten, der aktuell quasi einzig und allein von Intel bestimmt wird. Keepin' it real fake, part CXCII: the Toshiba G450, for some reason
Well, now we know what Toshiba was up to when it released that wacky G450 HSDPA modem / cellphone hybrid -- it was an overt challenge to see if even the silliest products would be copied by the Shenzhen KIRF outfits. Ballmer: "Apple is only a $500 logo"
Steve Ballmer is making a pretty regular habit of putting his foot in his mouth on Apple's success. He was this week quoted by Techflash as saying:
Apple gained about one point, but now I think the tide has really turned back the other direction.
The economy is helpful. Paying an extra $500 for a computer in this environment - same piece of hardware - paying $500 more to get a logo on it? I think that's a more challenging proposition for the average person than it used to be.
The bad news for Microsoft? We aren't paying that extra $500 for the hardware.

iriver E50 gets unboxed, reviewed
iriver's E50 PMP has had a bit of a roundabout launch since it first appeared on the scene back in December, but it looks like it's now finally available in at least a few parts of the world, and the folks at Le Journal du Geek have promptly gotten their hands on one and done the full unboxing and review honors. As was pretty clear from the early shots, this one's a sleek little device and, while it doesn't exactly pack a whole slew of features, it looks to perform all the basic tasks with welcome simplicity. On the downside, the 1.8-inch screen apparently leaves a bit to be desired, especially when playing videos and, while the included earphones are a tad better than

New material could make robot muscles better, faster, stronger
There's already been countless advances in the always exciting field of robot muscles, but a team of researchers from the University of Texas have now made what appears to be a considerable leap forward, which they say could allow for "performance characteristics that have not previously been obtained." iriver teases the P35 WiFi PMP interface
iriver announced the P35 WiFi-enabled PMP just after CES with few details, but it looks like we're getting closer -- the company's just put up an interface teaser video with a countdown clock. Is Verizon planning a Z-Wave home automation system?
As home automation starts building up steam it looks like Verizon might be giving Nokia's to-be-released Home Control Center a little run for its money. According to CE Pro, FCC documentation has been found describing something called the Verizon Home Monitoring Gateway and Home Monitor Service.
