So yeah, we got a chance to check out Nintendo's new MotionPlus accessory. Wii Sports Resort is the only title announced right now that requires (or supports) MotionPlus, and we gave a couple of the games a run (like sword fighting and jet-skiing). Basically we're at a complete loss as to how this does anything differently or more effectively than the current controllers. Some information concerning the release of iPhones in France
To start with, (thank you JP for the photograph) it will be on sale as of July 17 in the FNAC and Darty in addition to the Orange shops.
It seems that the number of iPhones available at each sales outlet will be low. Typically an Orange shop can hope to receive only between 11 to 16 units, which in fact are already all pre-reserved (thank you Guillaume). A number of you are thus likely to find their nose in the water (as the French would say).
Note that it will not be possible to buy a naked apparatus at FNAC (thank you Raphael). They will only sell them together with an Orange subscription.
To finish, we are still unaware of the details of the procedure to pass from a iPhone V1 to a 3G. So far, Orange has given the broad outlines of this and its cost, however we are unaware of if it will be possible to make the update in shop, or if it will be necessary to wait and go through a convoluted procedure.

So we just got our hands on the complaint Apple filed against Psystar for building off-label Mac clones, and as expected, Steve and friends aren't pulling any punches -- in addition to the eight total claims, request for a permanent injunction, and money damages, Apple wants a recall of every Psystar machine ever sold. iPhone 3G review supplemental: battery life and MobileMe tests
Filed under: CellphonesWe spent most of the weekend putting the iPhone 3G's battery life (and to a lesser extent, MobileMe implementation) to the test, and we've got far more encouraging results to report back than we had on day one. Pretty much everything we've found thus far jibes with Apple's claims, if not exceeds them. (Our video results early on skewed low because we had mistakenly left on push and fetch data, which dropped the battery life by almost 25%. After re-testing, they're back up to spec.)All tested with 3G on, WiFi on (not connected), Bluetooth off, no data fetching enabled (unless specified otherwise). Das Ladepad der US-Firma Wild Charge kommt nach Deutschland. Hama will auf der Internationalen Funkausstellung 2008 in Berlin ein Ladepad für den Akku verschiedener technischer Geräte zeigen. Transcend hat vier Solid State Drives (SSDs) mit 32 und 64 GByte Speicherkapazität vorgestellt, die über eine SATA-2-Schnittstelle und einen JMicron-Controller verfügen. So viel kostet das iPhone 3G wirklich
Wie kaum anders zu erwarten haben sich die Bastler von iSuppli mal wieder die Arbeit gemacht und das iPhone 3G in seine Einzelteile zerlegt. Herausgekommen ist dabei eine knallharte Kostenkalkulation: Apple zahlt demnach 174 US-Dollar pro Gerät und liegt damit deutlich unter den Kosten für das iPhone der ersten Generation, welches mit 226 US-Dollar noch deutlich teurer war. Verschätzt hat sich iSuppli trotzdem, denn nach den ersten Kalkulationen im Juni setzten die Experten nur 100 US-Dollar an.

Intel Will Launch Quad-Cores Notebook CPU in August
Source : ElectronistaAnnounced couples of hours ago, Intel will launch its first Quad-Core CPU dedicated to notebooks. A 45 nm, 3.06 GHz Core 2 Extreme mobile processor will be the flagship of 14 Centrino 2 CPUs. With a TDP of 44 W the extreme version will most likely not find its way in MacBook Pro, however, it could be installed in an iMac. Other CPUs clocked at 2.26 GHz, 2.4 GHz, and 2.53 GHz with TDP around 25 W will find their way in MacBook/MacBook Pro, however it is unclear if it will come in September as a revision of the current models, or if Apple plans to delay the introduction of the Centrino 2 platform in our MacBook till January 2009.

Apple Finally Decided to Sue Psystar

We regularly look at our statistics and analyze the OS and hardware being used by our visitors to evaluate trends and better know our readers. IT clearly shows a clear decrease of Power Pc-based computers among our readers. It represents today only 27.74 % while Intel-based Mac captures 72.26 %. Surprisingly, 1.98 % of our visitors use an iPhone, a higher score than for Linux-based hardware readers.

iTunes set for further European expansion
Apple's plans to expand iTunes into new countries took a big step forward this morning with news the EU will force music rights collection societies to offer online distribution rights on a trans-European basis.
What this means to iPod users is that Apple will soon be able to add music to the bevy of iTunes stores it opened for European member states last week, stores which currently only offer applications for the iPhone.
European regulators apparently believes the territorial licensing scheme music companies have traditionally followed is monopolistic and against the spirit of European free trade agreements.

Never lost with iPhone
We came across this unique story of the iPhone, Ireland, the Peace Mazeand GPS
Many years ago a Peace Maze was created in Castlewellan Forest park in County Down, Northern Ireland. It was officially opened by the Minister of Agriculture for Northern Ireland, Mrs Brid Rodgers, on 12 September 2001.
The maze is simply huge - it covers a ground area of 11,000 square metres, has over two miles of hedge and the entire maze circuit extends across two miles - you really can find yourself lost in there.
The maze is planted with 6,000 Yew trees which form largest hedge maze in the world. The time taken to solve the puzzle of the maze varies, but on average it should take around 40 minutes. So, it's inevitable that someone has already 'hacked' the maze using Google Maps, GPS and the iPhone 3G. More information here.

Sun rechnet wieder mit Gewinn
Sun Microsystems erwartet nach überraschenden Verlusten im Vorquartal für die Schlussperiode des Fiskaljahres 2008 (bis 30. Juni) wieder einen Gewinn. Das bereinigte GAAP-Ergebnis pro Aktie wird laut dem vorläufigen Quartalsbericht des Unternehmens zwischen 0,05 und 0,15 Dollar betragen. iPhone OS 2.0.1 in Testphase
Boy Genius Report meldet, dass offenbar die ersten iPhones mit der OS-Version 2.0.1 unterwegs sind. Davon gehen die Betreiber der Website zumindest nach einem Blick auf die Server-Logs aus. Demnach könnte sich die neue Version im internen Beta-Test bei Apple und AT&T befinden, die Build-Nummer beträgt 5B101 (iPhone 2G), beziehungsweise 5B03 (3G). Geographisch sollen die so erfassten Mobiltelefone aus den den Bereichen San Francisco und Atlanta operiert haben - daher auch die Vermutung, dass AT&T und Apple am Testen sind.

Die Zeitung zitiert mit den Vorermittlungen der Kommission vertraute Quellen, wonach die Vertriebs- und Marketingpraktiken des Chipherstellers gegen europäisches Wettbewerbsrecht verstoßen sollen. Intel meldet deutliche Zuwächse im zweiten Quartal
Trotz der Kreditkrise in den USA und steigender Rohstoffpreise hat Intel im zweiten Quartal nach eigenen Angaben ein Rekordergebnis erzielt. Der Umsatz stieg um 9 Prozent auf 9,47 Milliarden Dollar, der Nettogewinn sogar um 25 Prozent auf 1,6 Milliarden Dollar. Daraus ergibt sich ein Gewinn pro Aktie von 0,28 Dollar, gegenüber 0,22 Dollar im zweiten Quartal des Vorjahres.

Wordpress 2.6: Von der Blog- zur CMS-Software
Die Blogsoftware Wordpress wurde in Version 2.6 veröffentlicht und bringt in der neuen Variante zusätzliche Funktionen mit, die das Programm zu einer umfangreicheren CMS-Software (Content Management System) ausbauen sollen. Google-Suche erreicht Marktanteil von fast 70 Prozent
Im Juni hat Googles Marktanteil bei der Internetsuche erstmals an der 70-Prozent-Marke gekratzt. Laut den aktuellen Zahlen von Hitwise, die auf dem Suchverhalten von 10 Millionen Internetnutzern in den USA basieren, steigerte Google seinen Anteil von 68,29 Prozent im Mai auf 69,17 im Juni. Die anderen großen Suchanbieter Yahoo, Microsoft und Ask.com konnten ihre Position im Markt für Internetsuche nicht halten.

HP-Druckertreiber für Leopard veröffentlicht
Unter Leopard gab es anfänglich viele Probleme mit diversen Druckermodellen. Aus diesem Grund stellte Apple kurz nach Veröffentlichung des Betriebssystems eine eigene Hilfeseite für Betroffene zur Verfügung und besserte seitdem immer wieder die systeminternen Druckertreiber auf. iPhone 3G Akkutests - und -Tipps
Gizmodo hat sich die Mühe gemacht, die wichtigsten bisher erschienen Tests zur Akkulaufzeit zusammen zu fassen. Die von Apple angegebene maximale Sprechdauer über 3G wird durch die Testergebnisse mit Zeiten zwischen 4:27 und 5:50 Stunden bestätigt, deutlich weiter auseinander zieht sich das Feld der Tester deutlich weiter auseinander - die beinahe unendlichen Nutzungsmöglichkeiten resultieren in Ergebnissen zwischen 2:54 und 5:49 Stunden.
Wer ein iPhone 3G benutzt und vielleicht sogar den direkten Vergleich zum Vorgängermodell ziehen kann wird bestätigen, dass im gewöhnlichen Betrieb der Akku des neuen iPhone öfter geladen werden muss. Mit UMTS, Push-Diensten und GPS hat Apple dem Gerät zwar nette neue Features mit gegeben, diese fordern allerdings auch ihren Tribut. Wer nicht zurückstecken will kommt daher wohl nicht umhin, sein Telefon nun jede Nacht ans Ladekabel zu hängen.

Leave it to Asus to bust out a nice laptop that we can't have -- yet. The new F8Va, released in Korea only for now, packs an Intel Core Duo T9400 at 2.53GHz, 4GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM, a 320GB SATA spinner, ATI Radeon HD3650 GPU, and a 14-inch WXGA screen at 1440 x 900. To top it off, the F8Va includes a Blu-Ray combo drive, 1.3 megapixel camera, and HDMI out. It's hitting Korea in July, but if / when it comes to the US, we're probably looking at a $1299 price based on early reviews. Apple verklagt Psystar
Am 3. Juli 2008 reichte Apple im Heimstaat Kaliforninen Klage gegen Open-Mac-Hersteller Psystar ein. Psystar vertreibt seit April unter der Bezeichnung «Open Mac» normale PC-Hardware mit einem vorinstallierten, gecrackten Mac OS X Leopard. iSuppli has come forth with the most comprehensive bill of materials yet for the iPhone 3G. There are lots of fun parts included but the one that stuck out was CSR BluCor Rom which means that, yes, the iPhone can do A2DP Stereo Bluetooth, should Apple allow that in a software update.

Mac tablet im Eigenbau
Es ist das Produkt, welches all (oder zumindest viele) sich wünschen, aber am Ende wohl nur wenig kaufen würden: ein Mac tablet. Ein solches Gerät, welches keine Tastatur bieten und stattdessen auf Stifteingabe setzen würde, beflügelt die Fantasien vieler Modder – und selbst das Modbook ist „nur“ eine Modifikation eines MacBook, wenn auch sehr hochwertig und mit spezieller Unterstützung durch Apple.

Intels Notebook-Chips verkaufen sich gut

Sony's NWZ-B130F Walkman makes its way to Asia

No, it's not all Playstation news for Sony today -- the company also announced the new NWZ-B130F Walkman, a slender little stick of a player available in several colors. The latest entry in the B series of Walkmans sports a 3-line LCD, MP3 and PlaysForSure WMA support, 90 minutes of playback on a 3-minute charge, an FM tuner, and voice recorder in both 1GB and 2GB capacities. We're hearing pricing will come at least $20 below that of the iPod Shuffle, but it's a little moot -- it's scheduled for an Asia-only arrival in August at the moment.[Via

Medion dips its toes into the Centrino 2 waters with Akoya S5610

It may be small change compared to the batches of Centrino 2 laptops some other manufacturers are trotting out, but Medion apparently isn't about to let the launch go by without throwing its hat in the ring, and it's now debuted its first entry: the 15.4-inch Akoya S5610 laptop. This one looks like it'll be able to hold its own, however, with it packing a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo P7350 processor, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 graphics with 256MB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and 3GB of RAM as standard, plus the usual perks like a 1.3 megapixel webcam and a fingerprint reader.
