Softbank unveils the tariffs on the iPhone in Japan.
Softbank, the Japanese operator having obtained an exclusive iPhone contract revealed the tariffs at which the two models will be marketed. The 8 GB at 23.040 Yen (ie 139) and 16 GB at 208.
The basic subscription including the unlimited exchange of data will be 44 which is much higher than than proposes by other operators with different phones.
In the final analysis, only Orange (France) has not communicated yet on the tariffs of the 3G iPhone and of the associated subscriptions.

The iPhone will not be subsidised in the UK Apple Store?
Source : http://www.mobiletoday.co.ukIn the UK, Apple and O2 would face an obstacle: people eager to acquire a 3G iPhone in the Apple shops will not be able to profit from the discount that makes the iPhone much less expensive, and even "free" if bought with various subscription plans.
The problem is related to the incapacity of the employees of the Apple Store to make customers sign a contract and to validate it before ringing up the sale. If no solution is found, Apple will only be able to sell in its shops the iPhone equipped with a prepaid card, and only at the full price.
In France, not to be confronted with these problems, Apple Premium Resellers will become Orange agents, which will allow them access to the data network of the operator(Orange) in order to fill and to validate the contracts related to the iPhone.

If the war between BD and HD-DVD is now over, it did not really change much the penetration of HD format in mass market, both for standalone HD player and for BD burners in our computers. Despite some price cuts, a BD player remains around 300.
Nevertheless, all companies involved in this field are actively working in improving specifications and technologies. ZFS file system coming to Snow Leopard server edition

It's been almost exactly a year since we heard any chatter over Apple's adoption of the supposedly rock solid 128-bit ZFS file system, but it appears to be heading into the next version of the company's OS at least for servers. According to the promo page for Snow Leopard for OS X servers, the redundant, error correcting, dynamic volume expanding format will be available when the new system drops, though there's no mention of whether it will make its way onto the standard version of the software. With data handling that's this tight, our only question is why wouldn't it make the cut?

Man lernt nie aus: Lautstärke am Mac in geringeren Stufen einstellen
Selbst in der kleinsten Einstellung der Tonwiedergabe am Mac sind manchem Nutzer die Lautsprecher noch zu laut. Andere wiederum finden die Schritte der Lautstärkeregulierung zu groß. Deshalb baute Apple in Mac OS X 10.5 eine Feinjustierung der Lautstärkeanpassung über die Lautsprechertasten auf der Apple-Tastatur ein. Lauter und leiser geht es damit im Vierteltakt!

Wie Unwiredview.com berichtet, arbeitet Apple an einem Feuchtigkeitsdetektor fürs iPhone und den iPod. Dieser könnte melden, ob Flüssigkeit wie Kaffee oder auch Regen ins Gehäuse eingedrungen ist. Android-Handys verzögern sich
Mobiltelefone, die auf der von Google entwickelten Software-Plattform Android basieren, verspäten sich offenbar. Gemäss den ursprünglichen Plänen sollten entsprechende Handys in der zweiten Jahreshälfte 2008 auf den Markt kommen. Websuche: Microsoft verliert Kunden an Konkurrenz
Microsoft hat im Mai im US-Suchgeschäft Boden auf seine Konkurrenten verloren. Während Google und Yahoo mit einem Anteil von 61,8 beziehungsweise 20,6 Prozent an allen US-Suchanfragen einen leichten Zuwachs verzeichneten, musste Microsoft gegenüber April einen Rückgang von 0,6 Punkten auf 8,5 Prozent hinnehmen. Das geht aus den Zahlen des Marktforschungsinstitut Comscore hervor.

Apple seen as already greener
Apple is seen as the greenest IT brand, sharing the lead with HP, Microsoft, IBM, Intel and Sony, reveals an environmentally-focused research study among enterprise technology users.
The survey - conducted by GreenFactor - revealed that 70 per cent of those surveyed said they would be prepared to purchase green products, but only if they were convinced of the positive impact of the decision.
The research was conducted among 3,500 enterprise IT decision makers during the first quarter of 2008 by Strategic Oxygen, GCI Group and Cohn & Wolfe.

Radeon HD 4850 vs. Geforce 9800 GTX V2
Several websites have published a comparison of new graphic cards from AMD/ATI and NVidia. Hardware.fr released a test between the GeForce GTX 2x0 and the Radeon HD 4850.
If the GeForce GTX 2x0 was so far the flagship graphic card, it was also among the most expensive one, so targeting it for high-end users, rather that the mid-range category which represents the main market. This is the market targeted by the new AMD/ATI Radeon HD 4850. With an aggressive pricing, around 150 , this card is an excellent performer, and even pushed NVidia to refresh its GeForce 9800 GTX to with thinner engraved GPU and higher core and memory clockspeed (aka GeForce 9800 GTX+ or v2.0). Such upgrade gives the lead back to NVidia card in this market segment but the Radeon might capture a reasonable piece of the market.

Wondering how Apple has bought down the price of the iPhone? Anyone remember the first-generation iPod, which shipped with its own power adaptor?
Announced on October 23, 2001. Jobs announced the first-generation iPod put "1,000 songs in your pocket," Apple charged $399 for the device. Over time, Apple whittled away the cost by sourcing lower-cost components and by removing things like the dock and power adaptor from the retail product, making these available as optional extras.
Now the company is doing the same thing again as it makes its iPhone more widely accessible at $199, subsidised by carriers. iPhone 3G in Japan: Ab 11. Juli für 137 Euro bei SoftBank
Nach Gerüchten und Vermutungen zum Verkaufsstart des neuen iPhone in Japan herrscht nun endlich Klarheit. Der japanische Telekomkonzern Softbank Corp bewirbt seit heute auf seiner Website das neue iPhone 3G für 23.040 Yen (umgerechnet ca. 137 Euro), dessen Verkauf nicht erst zum Jahresende, sondern wie in anderen Ländern auch am 11. Juli 2008 starten soll. Damit hat SoftBank den Kampf um den iPhone-Vertrieb gewonnen, während Japans größter Mobilfunkanbieter NTT DoCoMo sich geschlagen geben muss.

Software filtert Töne aus Akkorden heraus
Musiker können ihre Aufnahmen bald mit einer Software korrigieren, die aus einem Akkord einen einzelnen Ton herausfiltern und ändern kann, ohne die anderen Töne des Akkords dadurch zu beeinflussen. Das berichtet die New York Times. Das Programm Direct Note Access eignet sich damit besonders für die Bearbeitung von mehrspurig aufgenommener Musik, da sich jede Spur einzeln bearbeiten lässt. Snow Leopard: Screenshots
The German website Apfeltalk.de published several screenshots of Snow Leopard unveiling some news functions.
Among them, the ability included in safari to save web sites as independent web applications, or (even better?) to synchronize your address book with a Microsoft Exchange base.
Of course, this is only the beginning of the new functions packed in Snow Leopard, but one should not forget that the main goal of the future OS is not to change the GUI but rather to shape the deep layers, and prepare our favorite OS to the forthcoming evolution: heavy multicore processing and usage of GPU to boost non graphical computing tasks.

Nach Veröffentlichung der Creative Suite 3 scheint Adobe all seine Energie in die Entwicklung der Nachfolgeversion CS4 zu stecken. Motorola massacre: iPhone slices Razr...
Apple's iPhone is already snapping at the heels of Research In Motion and trouncing Palm, but spare a thought for another victim of the invasion - former partner, Motorola.
Apple worked with Motorola to deliver the first iTunes-capable mobile phone, the somewhat lacklustre ROKR. While this never truly competed with Motorola's RAZR phone, it was an attempt.
Motorola's handset sales are suffering now in the PiP (Post-iPhone) world. A survey by Rubicon Consulting reveals 14 per cent made the switch from Windows Mobile; 13 per cent from Blackberry, 7 per cent ran from Palm - but almost a quarter, 24 per cent, of those surveyed were previously owners of a Motorola Razr.

You certainly saw this information last week; 91% of Japanese are not interested in the iPhone according to a survey.
This figure was extremely well stressed by those who do not like the iPhone.
