BlackBerry Thunder first-ever live pics unearthed

Polizei schritt ein: Apple Store schloss früher
Straßenschlachten, brennende Macs und zerstörte iPods - all das ist nicht letzten Montag eingetreten, als im Londoner Apple Store mit dem Verkauf des iPhone 3G begonnen wurde. Um drei Uhr setzten die Angestellten des größten Apple Store die Kunden davon in Kenntnis, dass es mindestens drei Stunden dauern würde, um ein iPhone zu kaufen.

Fujitsu Siemens' netbook entry gets revealed

It looks like Fujitsu Siemens have broken cover on the next member to get in on the netbook party. That's right -- the company is launching a cheap, micro-sized laptop in the coming months just like everyone else. According to reports, the 8.9-inch device will clock in around €300 or €400 (about $470 to $630), and will likely sport some version of Windows (we're thinking XP, as is the case with the vast majority of these). AMD: Erneut hohe Abschreibungen wegen ATi
Nachdem AMD zuletzt mit einem wachsenden Marktanteil für positive Nachrichten sorgte, folgt nun ein weiterer Rückschlag: Der Halbleiterproduzent hat eine Abschreibung in Höhe von 880 Millionen US-Dollar bekannt gegeben, die immer noch auf den Kauf von ATi im Sommer 2006 für 5,4 Milliarden US-Dollar zurückgeht.

Heavily featured in the news leading up to the iPhone 3G launch, the Who Farm campers -- who hunkered down a full week early at the Fifth Avenue Apple store in Manhattan to promote organic farming or something silly like that -- seem to have fallen off the face of the earth after the Cube's doors were opened. None of the five hippies were seen emerging from the store with iPhones, and their leader's little apple-dropping "accident" (video is after the break) might have something to do with it. Neue Xbox 360 mit 60-GByte-Festplatte
Die Xbox 360 wird billiger: Wie erwartet hat Microsoft nun für die USA und Kanada eine Preissenkung des 20-GByte-Modells vorgenommen. Immer mehr Business-Programme im AppStore

Keine Herausforderung: iPhone 2.0 schon geknackt
Nur Stunden nach dem Release der iPhone 2.0 Software war es soweit: Die Hacker um das iPhone Dev Team haben bereits ihr Pwnage-Tool weiterentwickelt, um das iPhone zu knacken. Microsoft schlägt Apple bei Update-Zuverlässigkeit
Mit Updates ist das so eine Sache: Spätestens seit sich zahlreiche iPhone- und iPod touch-Nutzer mit dem Upgrade auf die iPhone 2.0 Software von Apple im Stich gelassen sahen, weiß die Gemeinde um die nicht mehr ganz so weiße Weste des Herstellers in Puncto Zuverlässigkeit. Schwarz auf weiß bringt es nun auch noch die IT-Firma Pingdom zum Vorschein, die die Zuverlässigkeit von Updates namhafter Hersteller testete und Apple dabei schlechter als Microsoft bewertete.

HD 4870 fällt auf 200, HD 4850 unter 130 Euro
Dass AMD mit der ATi Radeon HD 4870 (ComputerBase-Test) ein solides Stück Hardware abgeliefert hat, steht wohl außer Frage. In den kommenden Tagen wird sie zudem erstmals den Preis von 200 Euro unterbieten, was sie nochmals weitaus attraktiver erscheinen lassen dürfte.

Unentschlossen: Navigation nun doch auf dem iPhone?
Erst kürzlich sorgte die offenkundige Zurückhaltung der Hersteller für Navigationssoftware für anhaltende Diskussionen: Denn welche Funktion läge näher, als das iPhone 3G mit seinem schnellen A-GPS-Modul als mobiles Navi zu nutzen? Den Sorgen und Bedenken anderer Hersteller zum Trotz hat sich nun zumindest das Unternehmen TeleNav entschieden, eine entsprechende Anwendung für das iPhone herauszubringen, wie die US-amerikanische Wirtschaftszeitschrift TWICE meldet.

Klingelton-Software fürs iPhone verfügbar
Der Lieblingssong als Klingelton? Keine wirklich neue Erfindung, aber Apple tat sich mit diesem Bedürfnis vieler iPhone Nutzer zu Anfang etwas schwer. Zwar ist es inzwischen möglich, Songs als Klingeltöne zu verwenden, Apple bittet dafür aber im iTunes-Store zur Kasse, selbst wenn man den Titel bereits als mp3 erworben hat. Eine Alternative hierzu bietet der iPhoneRingToneMaker von Efiko, mit dem sich Musiktitel in Klingeltöne verwandeln und direkt in die iTunes-Playlist integrieren lassen.

AMD „Deneb“ in 45 nm bereits bei 3,48 GHz
Der Nachfolger des aktuellen Agena- bzw. Barcelona-Kerns, der in den Phenom- und Opteron-Prozessoren Verwendung findet, wird Ende des Jahres vorgestellt. Der „Deneb“ wird als Desktop-Variante in erster Linie die 45-nm-Fertigung einführen, die höhere Taktraten verspricht. Erste Tests scheinen dies zu untermauern.

Apple Xcode 3.1 erschienen
Ab sofort können Entwickler die finale Version von Xcode 3.1 über die Apple Developer Connection herunterladen.
