The best of Palm in the iPhone?
Source : Generation NTFor a very long time, Palm was the PDA of predilection of Mac Users. Since then, the company has descended into hell, Windows Mobile has arrived, and finally the iPhone came onto the scene with a role to play.

Foxconn shows off pint-sized PD-S2900 DLP projector

It's not quite shooting for the world's smallest title, but Foxconn's new PD-S2900 DLP projector will certainly turn quite a few heads nonetheless, with it boasting a form factor of just 4 x 3.6 x 1.4 inches and a weight just under a pound. That'll still give you an SVGA resolution though, along with a whopping 55 lumens of brightness and an apparently decently-sized image from a few feet away. No word on a price just yet, but you can look for this one to hit Taiwan sometime in the third quarter of this year.

AMD verliert 2,2 Prozent Marktanteil bei CPUs

8.9-inch MSI Wind shows up at Computex

ModeLabs intros Bluetrek Metal ultra-slim headset
ModeLabs Group on Monday introduced what the company claims is the lightest and thinnest Bluetooth headset yet with the Bluetrek Metal. Despite being made mostly of metal, the headset's claimed weight is just 5.5 grams, or less than a fifth of an ounce. The French company's newest product is about 4mm (0.16 inches) thick as well.

Clearly not content with letting Intel, VIA, and now NVIDIA own the market on the architectures of miniature, budget laptops, grumpy underdog AMD showed off what look to be some reference designs that would sit nicely next to the Eees of the world. Supertalent Announces "Cheap" SSDs: SSDs for the Mass?
Source : DailytechIf the SSD market is literally exploding, it is mostly linked to marketing campaign and announcement of products which are not available yet for most of them. In addition, if the numbers of companies claiming to deliver the best SSD increases exponentially, prices are not really getting down; and SSD remain mostly used by OEM for high-end notebook.
Things might change as Supertalent decided to bring a cheap SSD to consumer market: one will be able to get a 120 GB 1.8" SATA SSD for "ONLY" 649 USD, so about 50% less than the previous average price for such storage space!
Based on MLC chips, it features read speeds of 120 MB/sec and write speeds of less impressive 40 MB/sec.

Apple Store im Louvre bestätigt
Endlich ist es offiziell und die Gerüchte haben ein Ende: Frankreich wird ebenfalls in Paris einen eigenen Apple Store bekommen, wie Apple jetzt bestätigte, und dieser wird im Carrousel du Louvre seinen Platz finden. "Zu teuer" schallt es schon seit längerem aus allen Ecken, wenn es um die Kosten des Online-Dienstes .Mac von Apple geht. Canon rolls out WUXGA REALiS WUX10, REALiS SX80 LCOS projectors

It looks like Canon's laid claim to not one but two "world's first" titles today, with it rolling out the world's first WUXGA LCOS in the form of the REALiS WUX10 and the world's first PictBridge compatible with its new REALiS SX80 (also LCOS-based). DiskAid: iPod touch & iPhone als Festplatte nutzen
Mit der Freeware DiskAid kann man auf das Dateisystem von iPod touch und iPhone zugreifen. So lassen sich Apples Touchscreen-Geräte einerseits als mobile Speicherlösung nutzen, zudem erhält man Zugriff auf die auf den Geräten gespeicherten Musik-, Video- und Bilddaten.
Das Programm erkennt angeschlossene Geräte automatisch, somit ist keine Modifikation des iPod touch oder iPhone notwendig. Dateien können dann einfach per Knopfdruck zwischen dem Rechner und einem angeschlossenen Gerät verschoben werden.

New research confirms Macs have 33 per cent fewer problems than Windows PCs in a business environment - and that it's easier to resolve Mac problems than those with Windows.
Nucleus Research has been conducting an in-depth study on Mac versus PC in the enterprise. Ian Campbell, CEO of the company, writes: "We've been investigating the ROI from Macs versus PCs in the business environment. I was reviewing the data from a case study one of our analysts is completing and the results are interesting."

.Mac outage sparks fresh re-brand rumour
Apple's .Mac service saw some severe outages last night, as rumours the company plans a service upgrade continue to gather intensity.
Users of .Mac mail saw email problems for almost six hours last night, between 5.30pm and 10pm, US time.
An Apple note said: "100 per cent of members might experience slower than normal response when using IMAP mail. Mail can be sent and received using .Mac webmail. Normal service will be restored ASAP."
This service outage came shortly after last week's widespread rumours which claimed Apple plans to re-brand the service under a new name, (Mobile Me? Me.com?), and may possibly make the move to compete with existing free services, such as those offered by Google.
Code has been found in the upcoming iPhone SDK linking to mobileme.com where .Mac used to exist, it is likely that the upgrade will be announced at WWDC with direct tie-ins wit

Neues iPhone könnte 99 Euro kosten
Das Vertriebsmodell des iPhone nähert sich immer stärker denen anderer Mobiltelefonen an. Als nächstes könnte die Preisbindung fallen: Laut Times Online könnte das erwartete zweite iPhone für bis zu 100 Pfund in Großbritannien erhältlich sein, um den Absatz anzukurbeln. Das heißt aber nicht, dass es für den Preis auch tatsächlich in den Läden steht, sondern nur, dass Apple O2 größere Freiheiten gewährt, den Preis zu subventionieren. Jeder, der mit seinem mobilen Mac schon einmal eine Präsentation am Beamer abhalten musste, kennt das Problem: Neben dem Notebook-Display muss auch der Beamer als "Monitor" erkannt werden. Though they aren't publishing any photo proof, CNET's claiming the first review of the Dell 2709W, a yet-unannounced 27-incher that will supposedly debut in Australia for $1,200 AU (about $1,150 US). Looking a little more like its 30-inch counterpart, the 2709WFP has two DVI ports, DisplayPort, HDMi, and apparently even multiple 3.5mm jacks for surround sound passthrough over HDMI. All in all it sounds like the reviewers felt this is one to keep an eye out for. You know, whenever it's announced.

MTV als neuer Sender im iTunes Store
Mit der Comedy South Park ist MTV ja bereits seit dem Start des deutschen Serienangebots im iTunes Store vertreten, jetzt hat der Musiksender aber auch seinen eigenen Platz in der Liste der Sender und Studios erhalten.
Momentan finden sich dort unter dem Punkt MTV zwar nur die bereits länger verfügbare South Park-Staffel 11 sowie eine Staffel der Reality-Show Drawn Together, das eigene Listing deutet jedoch darauf hin, dass MTV im iTunes Store zukünftig stärker mit TV-Serien vertreten sein wird.

NVidia responds to the ATOM with the Tegra
Tegra is a chip of a new design: a cross between a CPU and a GPU.
It contains a central ARM 11 processor and an evolution of the video chip GoForce already marketed for as mobile video for the telephones and other ultra portable.
This chip is a SoC (System on a Chip) containing almost all the necessary functions for a device in a single chip of 144 mm2.
The interest of this product is that it can be manufactured at a very low cost, and the motherboards can be reduced to the extreme for mobile devices.
Tegra will run at least at 600 MHz, will take care of reading videos in 720p and will support screens of resolution up to 1024x768. It also integrates support for ATA, for an HDMI output and will consume only a few Watts; one talks of a consumption of only 1W for reading videos 720p.
A more powerful model, running at 800 MHz will be able to decode 1080p.
On a technical point of view, this chip is much closer to the one used by Apple in the iPhone than the ATOM processo

Apple Help Files: Isolating Issues in Mac OS X
As we all know, Mac have less problems than most PC, but it does happen. If you ever experience such problem, Apple just released a step-by-step procedure to isolate the origin and potentially fix it. The new article is in the knowledge base: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1388?viewlocale=en_US
However, in most cases, the advise is to reinstall Mac OS X the same rescue advise made by Microsoft for years. Sony secretly working on a PS3 motion controlling remote?

According to Times, the iPhone 2 could be available in UK at the target price of 100 £. This is much lower that the current value of the first generation, and could be explained by the switch in the iPhone business plan. It would then finally confirm what we reported earlier, Apple might have accepted to let carriers subsidized the handset. Apple's main goal seems to have evolved from making as much money as possible with exclusive partnership to get as much device sold as possible, expecting that at the end it pays off.
