Apple-Aktie: Analysten setzen Kursziele hoch
Nachdem sich bereits Mitte der Woche die Analysten von Oppenheimer Funds aus dem Häuschen trauten und Apples Aktie mit positiven Prognosen belegten, folgen nun auch weitere Analysten den positiven Vorhersagungen: Neben Merrill Lynch fügt auch Goldmann Sachs die Apple-Aktie zu den Kauf-Empfehlungen für seine Anleger zu. Kurserwartungen werden dabei zwar noch zurückhaltend geäußert, diese liegen dafür aber mit 220 US-Dollar schon deutlich höher als in den Prognosen der vergangenen Monate.

UK ASUS Eee 900s come with stunted battery, longer warranty
Filed under: LaptopsSo according to El Reg, it turns out ASUS is selling its Eee 900 laptops in the UK with 4400mAh batteries -- quite a bit smaller than the 5800mAh batteries that come in the US version. It's insult to injury when you consider that the larger screen necessarily sucks down more juice than on the 700 series, but ASUS explains that overseas users get a tradeoff in exchange: UK warranties last two years, supposedly longer than their US counterparts (although to be fair, we've heard of retailers listing the US Eee's warranty at two years as well). Wizzgo: Online Digital Video Recorder
The new website Wizzgo offers a service which could be summarize as a online digital video recorder. You indicate a show/documentary available on the Digital Terrestrial TV, and it will record it and send to you.
Based on iTunes-like interface, it includes a synchronization modules with iTunes, and could be transfered to an iPod or an iPhone. You can place recording request for show and movies long time in advance, while even searching the future programs available on all legally accessible DTB channels.
It is only currently running on the French channels, but depending on the success it could rapidly be extended to other languages and channels. While it requires a client application for accessing and browsing the programs, it offers a Mac dedicated version, for once our favorite platform has not been ignored.

VOD provider Akimbo shuts down

University of York: Macs sind günstiger und schneller
Dass Macs teurer als ihre Windows-Gegenstücke sind, ist eine Binsenweisheit, die seit Jahren unauslöschlich in den Köpfen vieler Computernutzer eingebrannt ist. Und doch wird sie täglich widerlegt, wie jüngst auch die University of York feststellte: Im englischen Zentrum für Neuroimaging investierte man umgerechnet knapp 380.000 Euro in Apple-Equipment inklusive Mac OS X: Denn es sei schneller und günstiger als Windows und Linux für wissenschaftliche Anwendungen.

Warner Bros. über die Zukunft der Musik

Apple braucht mehr Flashspeicher und bestellt
Einviertel der weltweiten Produktion von Flashspeicher-Chips bezieht alleine Apple. Das Ausrüsten der zahlreichen iPods und iPhones benötigt diesen hohen Anteil der kleinen Speicherbauteile, die herkömmliche Festplatten ersetzen und geringe Ausmaße möglich machen. Laut DigiTimes soll Apple kürzlich eine weitere Bestellung von Flashspeichern getätigt und sich damit einige der Vorräte für den Juni und Juli unter den Nagel gerissen haben.

3G iPhone landing in US?
Apple has taken delivery of 188 ocean containers carrying a mysterious new class of product, “electric computers”, a product description never seen on an Apple or Quanta shipment before.
These huge deliveries have given rise to speculation the boxes may contain next-gen iPhones, new breeds of MacBook or even the much speculated upon and never yet confirmed Mac tablet.
We’re not certain on these claims, they’re being propogated by a website called ImportGenius, which claims to have analysed “thousands of US customs records” for Apple’s US imports, through which they identified major imports of the new product type.
“They have never before reported this product on their customs declarations,” says Ryan Petersen of ImportGenius.com

Adobe CS4 bringt besseren GPU-Support
Noch ist nicht klar, ob es das nächste Creative-Suite-Paket von Adobe für Mac- und Windows-Systeme zur gleichen Zeit geben wird. Genauso fraglich bleibt, ob die Mac-Version erst mit der CS5 eine Photoshop-Variante enthält, die 64bit kann. Bis dahin begnügen wir uns mit weiteren Informationen, die das Gesamtbild der CS4 formen. Copyright Police may seize iPods, Macs under G8 trade deal
iPods, iPhones, laptops and other digital devices could be seized by customs officials worldwide under a new top-secret copyright policing deal being worked out between the G8 nations, reports claim.
Nations including Canada, the US and various European states (including the UK, which sits on the G8) are secretly agreeing a new pan-global state police deal in which information held on iPods and other devices could be subject to investigation by customs officials tasked with a new role, as copyright police.
Dubbed the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), signatory nations will form an international coalition against copyright infringement.

The future of Photoshop includes GPU and physics acceleration, with Adobe CS4 set to ship this October, a report claims.
The company is currently developing its creative applications for release with Adobe Creative Suite 4, and while not a great deal’s known about these yet, some features are emerging, with Adobe preparing for more public revelations soon, we think. Gerade vor ein paar Tagen berichteten wir darüber, dass Google bereits weitere Applikationen für das iPhone fertig gestellt hat. Mysterious Apple containers: 3G iPhone, Apple Tablet?
Source : FortuneImportGenius, a firm that collects "competitive intelligence" by monitoring U.S. Customs records of ocean containers entering American ports, has an intriguing report about some 188 containers shipped to Apple since March. The containters were labeled "electric computers", which is a label never used by Apple before.
The initial shipments were followed: on March 27, April 28, May 6 and May 17 with an additional 44 containers - each containing an estimated 40,000 units of the new phone. The sixteen containers imported by Apple Inc. itself - as opposed to the Quanta subsidiary - were delivered on March 19 and 27 to the Jonestown, Pa. facilities of Ingram Micro, Apple's U.S. distribution partner.Estimates are that each container can hold about 40,000 units of the new iPhone, which totals to about 8 million

Intel risks to accelerate the development of SSD disks
Source : DigitimesEven though officially there are many manufacturers of SSD disks in the catalogue, in reality, it is difficult to buy with one of these rare computers with the proposed SSD as an option, and t is impossible to find one at the retail stores, at any price.
It seems quite simply that the manufacturers prefer not to mass produce these disks. Things could quickly change under the impulse given by Intel.
The foundry decided to propose, as an option with the centrino 2 platform, SSD disks. They will be in SATA (exit MacBook Air) and proposed in 1,8" and 2,5" in a capacity of 80 GB.
Intel already hope to pass to 160 GB by the end of the year, and 250 GB in 2009.
The tariff of these products should be accessible since the foundry considers that the mid-range machines could be equipped about it.

Remember when the Wrightspeed X1 electric car beat both a Ferrari 360 Spyder and Porsche Carerra GT off the line? Well, ex-Cisco and DEC engineer Ian Wright is back with his SR-71 that he says will do 0-60 in a brain-numbing 2.5 seconds. The new electric speed dart should show up in about 18 months and could even get a street-legal version in 36 months. That's a long time to wait, sure, but a faster-than-Bugatti EV at a fraction of the cost could just be worth it.

Bei TUAW werden Nummernschilder mit Apple-Bezug gesucht. FCC may put another 25MHz of spectrum on the block for "free broadband"

Looks like the FCC isn't quite done collecting on spectrum auctions just yet, and Chairman Kevin Martin has apparently scheduled a vote for June 12th to decide the eventual fate of the the 25MHz swath of spectrum between 2155 and 2180MHz (affectionately referred to as AWS III, despite not being three times better than AWS). Apparently whomever snags the spectrum might need to be prepared to offer a "free service tier" (define that how you will) that would reach 50% of the population in the first four years and eventually 95% of the population by the time the license expires. iPhone getting game thanks to the iControlpad
