Swashbot sashays his way into our hearts

WiMAX for MacBooks
The FCC just released information on Intel's upcoming 5350 WiFi/WiMAX combo Mini-PCI card. "What's that got to do with me?" You might be saying
Physically, this card will fit into MacBook and MacBook Pro's Mini-PCI card slot, replacing the current Wifi card. The only caveat is that the WiMAX antenna might not do so well with the Wifi antenna setup that current MacBooks posses. Oh, and there is no Mac driver software for this unofficial product yet. Oh, and Sprint-Clearwire are late in the nationwide WiMAX rollout

Samsung Soul promo video shows 10 optical illusions in 136 seconds

We'll be frank -- we really have no idea what Samsung's getting at with its freshest Soul promotional video, but it's certainly a fine piece of eye candy if nothing else. Apple klagt gegen unauthorisiertes iPod-Zubehör
Wenn ein Hersteller iPod-Zubehör für Apple Abspielgeräte herstellen möchte, muss er dem "Made for iPod"-Programm beitreten. Wenn er das nicht tut und die eigenen Produkte trotzdem anbietet, hat er ein Problem. Dieses hat jetzt auch Atico International mit Apple.

Safaris Download-Politik gefährdet den Mac
Anders als bei Mozillas Firefox-Browser ist bei Safari der automatische Beginn eines Downloads standardmäßig aktiviert. Firefox beispielsweise, fragt immer vor dem Herunterladen, ob man die Datei nun downloaden möchte. Eine automatische Startfunktion ist nicht von vornherein aktiviert. Der automatische Download ist zwar praktisch, jedoch auch ein Sicherheitsrisiko.

Eine selten bekloppte Überschrift, aber in Australien wird, nachdem dort ein Mann von einem abstürzenden Hubschrauber getötet wurde, stellvertretend für alle Ohrhörer dieser Welt wieder kräftig über den iPod hergezogen. Angeblich könnte der verstorbene Pechvogel nämlich noch leben, wenn er statt Musik den herannahenden Hubschrauber gehört und sich schnell in Deckung gebracht hätte. Epcos sieht Aufschwung bei Handy-Bauteilen
Der Hersteller passiver elektronischer Bauelemente, Epcos, freut sich über eine Belebung seines Geschäfts mit Handy-Bauteilen. "Der Aufschwung ist da", sagte Firmenchef Gerhard Pegam dem Magazin Euro am Sonntag. Epcos hatte im abgelaufenen zweiten Geschäftsquartal bei Oberflächenwellen-Komponenten noch unter einem Umsatzrückgang von neun Prozent gelitten. Die Bauteile werden vor allem in Mobiltelefonen zur Verbesserung der Empfangsqualität eingesetzt.

Like pretty much every other Digital ELPH preceding it, Canon's flagship SD1100 IS garnered nothing but the utmost praise in a recent Imaging-Resource review.
