Apple's high-street plan for greener iPhone 3G
Apple's pushing a high street retail strategy in order to ensure its greener iPhone is in widescale distrtibution.
We know the iPhone is sold at AT & T and Apple retail stores in the US and at O2, Apple and Carphone Warehouse stores in the UK. Similar deals are also revealing themselves across Europe now, with the latest information revealing a range of German retailers will be offering the device when it goes on sale there on 11 July.

Enterprise Desktop Alliance to bring Macs to the enterprise
A consortium of five companies have founded the Enterprise Desktop Alliance (EDA) to promote the deployment of Macs in the enterprise.
The five founding companies include Centrify, LANrev, Atempo, GroupLogic, and Parallels, all of which already produce solutions to help integrate Macs into Windows-dominated enterprises.
The alliance will validate and promote the availability of solutions that make it easy to deploy, integrate and manage Macs using Microsoft Windows-based solutions.

EU will Preise für Datenroaming noch 2008 senken

Apple notebooks up 61%, exceeds industry growth - again...
Apple's notebook sales have shot up 61 per cent since the first quarter of 2007, Display Search revealed last week. That compares to overall growth of the sector of just 35 per cent.
The monitoring firm claims Apple shipped over 1.4 million notebooks in the first quarter 2008, compared to near 900,000 the year before. While these sales leave Apple as seventh place notebook manufacturer according to Display Search figures, they do mean Apple and Asus are the biggest growing brands, with 61 and 67 per cent growth rates respectively - most other manufacturers experienced 20 - 40% growth.

iTunes fuels digital music evolution
Apple's impact on the music industry continues to grow, with its Complete My Album feature reportedly accounting for 5 per cent of sales of recent Lil Wayne album, 'Tha Carter III'.
Six tracks from Lil Wayne's album were released before it shipped, and despite the entire album being leaked, it sold one million copies, Billboard reports.

Report: Phishing per E-Mail immer noch gefährlich
Trotz eines allgemeinen Rückgangs machen Phishing-Attacken noch immer zwei Drittel aller per E-Mail verbreiteten Schadcodes aus. Das ist das Ergebnis des Spam-Reports 2008 des Sicherheitsexperten Retarus. Hatte der Anteil von Phishing-Attacken am gesamten E-Mail-Schadcode (Viren, Würmer, Trojaner, Phishing-Mails und andere Malware) im ersten Quartal des laufenden Jahres noch bei über 90 Prozent gelegen, so ging er in den Monaten April, Mai und Juni auf rund zwei Drittel zurück (67,65 Prozent). About Mac Intel Overclocking: Tips and Recommendations
As overclocking of Mac Pro is now available and other Apple hardware should follow soon, we have decided to provide some tips and recommendations:
A bout Overclocking in general
- All CPUs are produced from the same fabrication lines and only final validation tests or OEM requests define their clock frequency.
- Intel has historically always defined a large tolerance for the CPU clock speed, giving room for "safe" overclocking, and in many cases one could gain 30% frequency overclock without playing with CPU voltage.
- voltage is a key point. The higher it is, the higher the CPU will release heat. But the higher it is, and the higher the CPU can be overclocked frequency-wise. However, playing with the voltage could destroy your CPU, so luckily ZDnet Clock does NOT allow changing voltage parameters, so the risk of destroying your CPU with such application are strongly reduced.

Apple hat die Nase voll: "iPod-Doktor" vor Gericht
Fast schon ein Garant für ein erfolgreiches Geschäft ist es, den Namen "iPod" im Firmennamen zu tragen. Dass es sich dabei um einen geschützten Markennamen handelt, war einem Mechaniker aus dem US-Bundesstaat Michigan offensichtlich egal, denn er warb als iPod-Doktor für seinen Reparaturdienst und verdiente mutmaßlich auf Kosten Apples ordentlich mit seiner Geschäftsidee. Auch vor dem Missbrauch der Garantiebestimmungen schreckte er angeblich nicht zurück. Apple hat nach einigen Abmahnungen nun die Nase voll - und zieht vor Gericht.

EMI reicht Urheberrechtsklage gegen Hi5 ein
EMI hat in den USA eine Klage gegen das soziale Netzwerk Hi5 eingereicht. Nutzer von Hi5 hätten hunderte von Musikvideos unerlaubt ins Internet gestellt und damit die Urheberrechte des Musikkonzerns verletzt, heißt es in der Klageschrift. Sie richtet sich auch gegen das auf Videowerbung spezialisierte Unternehmen VideoEgg, dass seine Server für die illegalen Uploads zur Verfügung gestellt haben soll, sowie gegen zehn weitere Verdächtige.

Die gute Nachricht zuerst: Für Apple geht es auf dem Notebook-Markt weiter aufwärts - um ganze 61 Prozent konnte das Unternehmen die Verkaufszahlen im ersten Quartal 2008 gegenüber dem Vorjahr steigern. Damit liegt Apple nur knapp hinter dem Hersteller Asus, der sich über ein Wachstum von 67 Prozent freuen durfte. Zum Vorteil reichte Apple nicht nur die wachsende Beliebtheit der eigenen Produkte, auch bei der generellen Nachfrage auf dem Notebook-Markt ist ein kräftiger Zuwachs zu verzeichnen.

Imation bringt Flash-Laufwerk in Büroklammerngröße

Rechtsexperten kritisieren freie Top-Level-Domainnamen
Internetrechtler und Analysten haben die Entscheidung der Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann) kritisiert, wonach Top-Level-Domainnamen (TLD) künftig frei wählbar sein sollen. 1 Jahr iPhone - 11 Tage bis zur neuen Generation
Gestern vor einem Jahr begann in den USA der Verkauf der ersten iPhone-Generation. Bereits Tage im Voraus bildeten sich lange Warteschlangen vor den Apple Stores und die ersten frischgebackenen iPhone-Besitzer, die die Läden verließen, wurden gefeiert wie erfolgreiche Marathonläufer.
Bis zum Verkaufsstart der zweiten iPhone-Generation sind es nun keine zwei Wochen mehr, und auch wenn wir dann wohl keine Warteschlangen mehr in diesem Ausmaß erleben, wird das zweite Juli-Wochenende mit Spannung erwartet. Neben der veränderten Hardware des iPhone 3G mit UMTS und GPS dürfen sich die Besitzer eines "alten" iPhone oder iPod touch auf die Version 2.0 des Betriebssystems für ihre Geräte und damit auf eine Vielzahl neuer Funktionen freuen.

LG hat mit dem Flatron W2252TE ein Breitbilddisplay vorgestellt, das sich durch seinen niedrigen Energiebedarf hervortut. As such, the globe's population of sheep-white-earbudded, sidewalk zombies have been completely off limits to its charms. Until today. While its DRM'd subscription deals remain in place, Rhapsody is now offering unprotected MP3 downloads both on-line and via partners including Verizon's VCAST over-the-air service and Yahoo. iPhone turns one today
On this day, one year ago, Apple released arguably the most important product of the decade. The iPhone has transformed the high end smartphone market and captured the imagination of Apple fans and technology nuts the world over. With Apple set to release version 2.0 in two weeks in 22 markets (and 70 more to follow), the future is looking very bright for this device.
We remember getting our hands on it for the first time (after a sneak preview or 3) and thinking how this device was was something different that anything before it. While every smartphone maker in the market is falling all over themselves trying to make their devices similar, few have come close. There is only one.

Am aktuellen Office 2008 gibt es zwei große Kritikpunkte: Zum einen die Geschwindigkeit und zum anderen der Wegfall von Visual Basic für Applikationen (VBA).
