Flexible Preise im iTunes Store ab dem 7. April?
Flexible Preise für Musik waren ein Bestandteil der Einigung Apples mit den drei Major-Labels Universal, SonyBMG und Warner. Diese sollten nicht zusammen mit den anderen Änderungen (DRM-freie Tracks, mobiler Musikdownload), sondern zeitlich verzögert eingeführt werden. Laut der LA Times soll es nun am 7. April so weit sein: Einiges wird teurer, anderes billiger.

Apple launches iLife, iWork maintenance updates
Apple has released maintenance updates for iPhoto, iWeb and iMovie, along with general support updates for the iLife and iWork '09 software suites. The iPhoto 8.0.2 update improves overall stability, while addressing minor issues in Faces, Places, photo sharing, slideshows and other parts of the software. The download weighs in at 87.86MB. Geotagalog 1.0 combines GPS tracklogs with images

Apple hat Updates für alle iLife-Anwendungen mit "i" und ohne "DVD" veröffentlicht. Tesla Model S now official, caught cruising in the wild

Apple Updates iLife '09 and iWork '09
Apple has just released updates for some of the applications bundled in the iLife '09 suite, and true to Apple's reputation, very little has been mentioned about exactly what problems have been addressed in these updates. All applications in the iLife suite have been updated except for iDVD. Apple does provide a small amount of information with each update that we've repeated here.

Samsung's WiMAX-equipped SWD-M100 MID outed as Mondi
Although apparently not on its site just yet, it looks like Samsung's RSS feed has unleashed the first official pic of that WiMAX-enabled SWD-M100 MID we spotted at MWC as well as revealed a catchier name: Mondi. The device will utilize Clearwire's Mobile WiMAX network simply dubbed "Clear." Last we heard it was running Windows Mobile 6.1, but seeing as its sporting that dedicated Windows button required for WinMo 6.5, that all could change before it's release. RIM to fire up mobile TV service for BlackBerry devices?
RIM's pleading the fifth at the moment, but the timing here sure makes this rumor one we'd love to believe. With BlackBerry App World launching on April 1st and CTIA opening up in a matter of days, it seems the perfect time for RIM to introduce its very own television service for BlackBerry devices. NewTeeVee has it from "multiple [undisclosed] sources" that RIM will announce a "full-episode television service" for BB users; the interesting part, however, is that it will supposedly download content via WiFi, leaving open the possibility for this to be carrier-agnostic. DLO has launched the TransDock Micro for iPhone, an FM transmitter and car charger designed specifically for the iPhone. Central is a dial-based interface for one-handed operation, allowing a user to keep his eyes on the road. Heute Abend veröffentlichte Apple die ersten Informationen zur diesjährigen Entwicklerkonferenz WWDC. Die Veranstaltung findet in diesem Jahr abermals im Moscone Center West in San Francisco statt. Vom 8. bis 12. Juni wird Apple zahlreiche Kurse anbieten, welche interessierte (und zahlende) Entwickler zur Fort- und Weiterbildung nutzen können. Radeon HD 4890: More than a Radeon HD 4870 on Steroids
According to Fudzilla, the new Radeon HD 4890 that will be unveiled on April 2nd, is more than an overlocked Radeon HD 4870. Important optimizations have been made on the GPU. As a result, it would heat less, while draining less power when idle than the 4870. So computing cores have been modified to be even more efficient.

Mainstream iTunes tracks to raise in price April 7th
Apple's plans to enact variable music pricing at the iTunes Store will take effect April 7th, says the LA Times. Although Apple has yet to publicly announce a firm date, the information is said to be circulating in the music industry, as a result of Apple telling record labels in preparation. Many mainstream hits, including both new and old songs, will be raised in price from 99 cents to $1.29.

iPhone OS: The Most Used OS on Mobile Phone Internet Browsing
Admob is a company analyzing the traffic of mobile phone internet one more than 6000 websites. In their last study covering January 2009, they demonstrate that the iPhone was capturing most of the mobile phone internet browsing. In Europe, it represents 31%, and 52% when pooled with the iPod touch vs. 44% for the worldwide data. In summary in all countries when the iPhone is available, it is the most used mobile phone for internet browsing. Symbian-based mobiles rank second with 32% while windows mobile-based models does not seem to push their users to browse remotely on internet with only 8%.

Skype poised to launch iPhone app next week?
Skype may be ready to launch an iPhone version of its VoIP and IM client, a source told gigaOM. The "very reliable" tipster claimed that the iPhone launch could come as soon as next week, possibly at the CTIA Wireless trade show which kicks off on April 1st. Vista Capable lawsuit may regain class status

Tesla Model S official shots unofficially unveiled
Kevin Rose has some Tesla Model S imagery up on his Flickr account, including the first unshrouded pictures of the car, along with a rather wild interior shot. The all-electric sedan is styled beautifully -- if rather predictably -- but things start to get weird on the inside. In what looks to be a concept car mockup of the interior, there appears to be a large touchscreen taking the place of the entire center console, wrapped irregularly by dashboard padding. Orange to subszdize MacBooks with Mobile Broadband, AT&T to follow?
According to MobileToday, Apple is in the final stages of negotiations to sell their MacBooks subsidized through Orange (presumably in the UK) with a mobile broadband card. More interestingly, they expect Apple to release a notebook (or netbook) with built in Mobile Broadbnd at some point this summer.

Apple has begun selling an official 8GB RAM upgrade kit, designed for the latest 15-inch unibody MacBook Pro. The kit contains two 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SO-DIMMs, and costs $1,200. Yeah, we'd seen those fine mechanical workings from the back, but Ulysse Nardin has just taken the wraps of its entire Chairman handset, which they bill as a "hybrid smart phone" -- and actually seem to mean it. iTunes Store: Ab 7. April neue Preise für Musik
Vor knapp drei Monaten angekündigt und inzwischen beinahe schon wieder vergessen, stehen nun die Preisänderungen im iTunes Store vor der Tür. Voraussichtlich ab 7. April (Gizmodo/L.A. Times) gilt die Einteilung in drei von der Popularität der Titel abhängige Preisklassen.
Während ein Teil der Titel bei den jetzigen 99 Cent bleiben wird, sollen "populäre" Songs für 1,29 Euro und weniger bekannte Titel im Gegenzug für 69 Cent angeboten werden. "Populär" bezieht sich dabei nicht unbedingt auf das Erscheinungsdatum, sondern hängt auch von der Beliebtheit der Songs ab. Die L.A. Times nennt als Beispiel für die 1,29 Dollar/Euro-Preisgruppe den 25 Jahre alten aber in den USA stets gerne gehörten Springsteen-Klassiker "Born in the U.S.A.".

VAIO P spec bumps coming?
According to the folks over at Sony Insider, Sony might have something more than just color changes up its sleeve when it comes to forthcoming variations on the VAIO P. Supposedly, the company has a new series of the diminutive laptop in the pipeline numbered 700 (as opposed to the current 500 line), which SI says looks just like a typical Sony scheme for spec refreshes. In a bid to help consumers recognize PCs optimized for new Windows 7 multi-touch controls, Microsoft has started (can you guess?) a logo program. Not that those "Vista Capable" stickers were of much use. Just think, now our new convertible laptops will be graced with loads of crapware and stickers touting Designed for Window 7, Intel inside, nVIDIA graphics or similar, and now Windows Touch, too. Gericht bestätigt Rundfunkgebührenpflicht für internetfähige Computer
Das Oberverwaltungsgericht Rheinland-Pfalz in Koblenz hat entschieden, dass ein Rechtsanwalt für einen beruflich genutzten PC mit Internetzugang Rundfunkgebühren zahlen muss. Microsoft aktualisiert Echtheitsprüfung von Windows XP
Microsoft hat im Kampf gegen Raubkopien das Überprüfungssystem Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) von Windows XP überarbeitet. Das ab dieser Woche verteilte Update bringe neben Verbesserungen der Gültigkeitsprüfung auch einen vereinfachten Installationsprozess, der das Aufspielen neuer WGA-Versionen erleichtere, erklärt Microsoft-Mitarbeiter Alex Kochis im WGA-Blog. Die Änderungen betreffen die laut Microsoft am häufigsten illegal kopierte Edition von Windows XP, nämlich XP Professional.

Blockbuster to jump aboard Tivo and Apple?
As the video-on-demand industry continues to mature, more and more "mashups" are being drawn out. Today's is a big one. In an upcoming update, Tivo will now incorporate Blockbuster's online video store into its players. China Unicom confirms itself as iPhone carrier to largest market on earth, sales begin May 17th
Yesterday was no fluke. China Unicom, with its 150 million subscribers (much more than AT&T), has confirmed that it will be selling the Apple iPhone beginning on May 17th, 2009 to China's 1.3+ billion potential customers.
With a likely iPhone 3.0 coming out this summer and 3G roll outs just being tested in 55 Chinese cities, it isn't clear how many of these devices will get swooped up right away and how many customers will wait (for the models their compatriots are building!).
China Unicom confirmed Wednesday that it would start to sell Apple's iPhone in China on May 17.

Freenet steigert Umsatz 2008 deutlich
Freenet hat seine endgültigen Zahlen für das Geschäftsjahr 2008 veröffentlicht. Das Unternehmen erzielte einen Umsatz von 2,87 Milliarden Euro. Das entspricht einem Plus von über 1 Milliarde Euro oder 70 Prozent im Vergleich zum Vorjahr (1,69 Milliarden Euro). Davon entfielen 1,09 Milliarden Euro auf das vierte Quartal 2008, nach 417,5 Millionen Euro im vierten Quartal 2007. Das Ergebnis vor Zinsen, Steuern und Abschreibungen (EBITDA) gibt Freenet mit 207,1 Millionen Euro an.

Wichtiger Firefox-Patch für kommende Woche angekündigt
Ein jüngst bekannt gewordenes Sicherheitsloch in Firefox führte dazu, dass in kürzester Zeit bereits schadhafter Code auftauchte, um diese Lücke auszunutzen. Mozilla kündigte an, Entwickler sofort mit der Behebung zu beauftragen, sodass bereits in der kommenden Woche der wichtige Patch erscheint. As the bathroom gets more and more eco-friendly, the EcoDrain is stepping in to take advantage of all the hot water that goes to waste each time you shower. Put simply, this user-installed heat exchanger transfers heat from hot shower waste water to cold incoming water, essentially cutting water heater usage by as much as 40 percent. United Internet rutscht wegen Abschreibungen in die Verlustzone
United Internet hat seine Geschäftszahlen nach IFRS für das Fiskaljahr 2008 vorgelegt. Demnach verbuchte der Gesellschafter von 1&1, GMX und Web.de aufgrund hoher Abschreibungen auf seine Beteiligungen einen Nettoverlust von 121,5 Millionen oder 0,52 Euro je Aktie. Im Vorjahr hatte das Unternehmen noch einen Gewinn von 155,4 Millionen Euro oder 0,64 Euro pro Anteilsschein erzielt.

Kids of all ages holding tight for an exhaustive look at the new iriver P35 GUI need wait no longer. Caught on video, the interface recalls that of the P7, and seems quite responsive. Widgets are accessed through a scrolling task bar, and -- we're sorry to tell you this -- that Big Bang Theory show seems to be just as unfunny on the 4.3-inch WQVGA touchscreen as it is on our family TV set. EA kündigt weitere App Store-Spiele an
Der Spielehersteller Electronic Arts will auch in diesem Jahr wieder verschiedene beliebte Spieletitel für den iPod touch und das iPhone veröffentlichen. Bereits in den nächsten Wochen sollen die Golfsimulation Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf sowie eine (vermutlich anfangs ausschließlich englischsprachige) Tivial Pursuit-Variante erscheinen. AMD Will Launch its Radeon HD 4890 on April 2nd
It is on April 2nd that AMD/ATI will officially launch the new flagship, the Radeon HD 4890, which should be immediately available.
Without bringing any deep modifications, when compared to the Radeon HD 4870 recently made available for Mac Pro owners, the Radeon HD 4890 brings an average 10% performance gain. This is mostly achieved by increasing both GPU and memory frequencies. In addition, some early tests have shown that this graphic card can easily and stably be overclocked. Some sites claim to have pushed the GPU fequency to 1 GHz instead of the default 850 MHz. The best news is most probably its price, as it should be around 250 USD. Dell Is Preparing the Launch of a Xeon Nehalem-based PC Model
According to Engadget, Dell is currently preparing the update of its PC Precision series, and should offer Xeon Nehalem-based model, the same CPU used in the new Mac Pro.- The T3500 model will sport only one CPU, and support up to 24 GB of RAM. Starting price will be 999 USD. It is not clear if hte starting model will be powered by a Xeon, or by a Core i7.- The T5500 model will be powered by two Xeon and will support up to 72 GB of RAM. Starting price would be 1620 USD.- The high-end T7500 model, will also be sporting two Xeon, but one could be able to install up to 192 GB or RAM. Starting price in this case will be 1800 USD.

Seagate unveiled a new NAS model, the BlackArmor. Beside its performance and its support for up to 4 HDs, specifications indicate that it will soon be available with 8 TB storage space (8 TB = 4 x 2 TB). Snow Leopard soon to sport new a "marble" look?
Apple's been saying all along that Snow Leopard would be more about under-the-hood performance and stability enhancements than huge feature changes, so take this with a grain of salt, but AppleInsider claims that a forthcoming 10.6 developer beta could potentially feature a new UI codnamed "marble." The new appearance is said to be darker and sleeker than the current Unified / Aqua look, and speculation is rampant that the new scrollbars in the current versions of iTunes and iPhoto offer a peek into the future, along with the well-circulated mockup of the new QuickTime X player seen above. GeForce GTX 285 fällt erstmals unter 300 Euro
Viele neue Grafikkarten kündigen sich an, was einmal mehr zur Folge hat, dass bestehende Modelle im Preis angepasst werden. Jetzt trifft es auch das Flaggschiff der Single-GPU-Modelle von Nvidia, die GeForce GTX 285, die erstmals unter 300 Euro gefallen ist.
