Lightroom crushes Aperture
John Nack at Adobe on his blog has made a resume of an independent study carried by photography professionals on the software that they used. On the Mac, Aperture has a small presence. In 3 years it moved down from 14,3 to 12,5% whereas Lightroom passed from 26,6 to 44,4%.
This is not surprising.
Lightroom functions on many more machines than Aperture, in particular all configurations containing G4 and without restrictions on the level of the graphics card.

You could fault the infamous M8 for being eons late; you could fault it for shipping without a quadband EDGE / WiFi / 3G version; you could fault it for dancing in and out of the straight-up iPhone ripoff arena from its very inception; you could fault it for being really hard to find and buy outside of China. Samsung annonces PRAM de 64 MB
Samsung announced that they have started production of PRAM memory chips of 512 Mbits (64 MB). These chips will be engraved in 65nm and the foundry promises to soon engrave this PRAM more finely so it will becomes competitive vis-a-vis the FLASH NAND memory.The PRAM is a nonvolatile memory (one can shut off the current without erasing the data) and it is much faster than the current FLASH memory. It would make it possible to produce memory banks with the still new performances. Some even envisage that it could replace the DRAM currently used as random access memory in our computers. Since it would not need to be fed current permanently, the PRAM would consume much less and generate less heat. However one is far from these objectives and it still needs time so that this memory wedged between the flash and the DRAM finds its place. Pioneer iPhone app complements in-dash GPS units
Electronics maker Pioneer has launched a free GPS application for the iPhone, AVIC Feeds. Unlike titles from companies such as TomTom, which provide full GPS functionality, the Pioneer software is designed strictly as a companion to the company's AVIC-U310BT and AVIC-Z110BT in-dash navigators. Users of the app can locate points of interest or other custom destinations in advance.

Kensington intros eight new mobile accessories
Kensington on Tuesday announced the upcoming release of eight new accessories for mobile device users. Among them is the Travel Battery Pack and Charger for iPhone and iPod touch devices. Google SketchUp 7.1 improves rendering engine
Google has updated its modeling software, releasing SketchUp 7.1. The 3D modeling software is based on an edges-and-faces approach, where faces are 2D objects formed by edges, which are lines or boundaries. Two-dimensional formations can be push-pulled by a mouse into 3D formations, with AutoCAD and 3ds Max support in the Pro version.

The software has automatic screen sharing launch support and a dashboard widget for launching a help session. Video: Intel-powered set-top box running Flash, decoding HD video
Intel's making a big TV push here at IDF, and a lot of it centers around the CE 3100 Media Processor, which combines an 800MHz Pentium M core with a proprietary video processing core all on one chip. That's about as much power as a 1.2GHz Atom, and it's enabled some pretty cool demos, like this box that's running a custom Flash Lite UI on top of Linux. The video silicon accelerates H.264 playback, so newer YouTube content looked fantastic -- some of the best big-screen YouTube we've ever seen actually. That's all the software was optimized for, however -- older content that required software decoding looked much worse, and playback wasn't stellar. AT&T sends out notice in advance of iPhone MMS activation
AT&T is reportedly sending out a free text message to iPhone subscribers, notifying them of the imminent activation of MMS service on September 25th. The text additionally warns that the "View My Message" option will be disabled while accounts are readied, but that sending and receiving text messages should remain possible. Only the iPhone 3G and 3GS will be able to send MMS content.

Intel shows Moblin Linux for smartphones
Intel at its Developer Forum keynote entered the smartphone field in earnest with the first edition of Moblin Linux for handsets. Version 2.1 is reworked to optimize the interface for touchscreen phone input and adds a panel-based interface for app switching, somewhat like the metaphor used in Palm's webOS. The software still centers on features from Moblin 2.0 like dedicated media playback and a full web browser.

AMD bestätigt Phenom II X6 für 2010
Was bereits seit rund drei Wochen als Gerücht durchs Internet geistert, hat AMD nun offiziell auf einer ihrer Webseiten für Vertriebspartner bekannt gegeben. Meizu launches second-gen iPhone clone
The successor to Meizu's iPhone clone, the M8, has gone on sale on Tuesday in the maker's home market of China. Called just the M8 Second Edition, the device is said to have a stronger radio and support both for the China-specific WAPI wireless standard and more traditional Wi-Fi, either of which was absent on the original. Other specs remain thin, but the dedicated music button on the right side of the device is now gone.

France gives final approval to three-strikes law
The French National Assembly today passed its controversial anti-piracy law by a ratio of 258 for and 131 against. Locally referred to as Hadopi, the measure will give users allegedly caught pirating media two warnings followed by punishment from a judge that could include either a ban on Internet access, fines as high as 300,000 Euros ($443,500) or up to a two-year prison term. Those who unintentionally allow others to use their connection for piracy, such as by running an insecure Wi-Fi hotspot, could face a temporary one-month ban or else as much as a 1,500 Euro

BMW and Mercedes to have Intel Atom-based infotainment systems in 2012
Intel just announced that both BMW and Mercedes-Benz will be shipping Atom-based infotainment systems designed by Harman-Becker in 2012. BMW will make the system available in the 7-series, while MB will put it in S- and C-class vehicles. According to Paul Otellini, these are just the first Atom-based in-vehicle entertainment systems to be announced, and automakers are coming around to "consistent and persistent platforms," so we'd expect this is the start of a very welcome trend. Kontakte und Kalender, die über Googles kostenlose Service-Angebote verwaltet werden, kommen bereits seit Anfang des Jahres per Push auf das iPhone. Ärgerlicher war es für Nutzer mit einem Gmail-Konto, deren Nachrichten sich nicht automatisch auf das iPhone dirigieren ließen. AT&T, Verizon poised to fight FCC's net neutrality stance on the wireless front
Verizon and AT&T, the States' number one and number two wireless carrier by subscriber count respectively, share a common bond in that they both have deep ties to the Bell System of old and have ended up running huge wireline broadband and legacy telephone businesses. Intel shows 22nm processor technology
As part of its Developer Forum keynote, Intel today showed the first working example of chips built on a 22 nanometer (nm) process. The process is even smaller than the 32nm technology just entering production and should run even more efficiently while fitting more into a given space. A single example chip about the size of a fingernail contains about 2.9 billion transistors and about 364 megabits (45.5MB) of static RAM.

SteelSeries intros Siberia v2 headset
Gaming peripheral maker SteelSeries on Friday announced it will soon release the SteelSeries Siberia v2 full-size headset. As the name implies, it will replace the Siberia headset released in 2004, with the main improvement being the retractable boom microphone that comes out of the left ear cup. This makes the headset more convenient to carry when travelling, as the microphone tucks out of the way and gives it the profile of regular headphones.

Sprint WiMax service to go live in Chicago on Oct. 6
Sprint will sell its 4G WiMAX mobile broadband service to Chicago residents starting on October 6th, when it will officially be announced during a press event. A Friday story from BBR maintains Sprint has been sending out invitations to members of the press for the event, where it will demonstrate the network's speeds in addition to formally launching the network.

Apple, eBay, other online vendors face encryption lawsuit
Apple and eBay are among many online retailers named in a new patent infringement lawsuit, reports say. Filed by TQP Development, the suit alleges that the defendants are violating a 14-year-old patent, titled Encrypted Data Transmission System Employing Means for Randomly Altering the Encryption Keys. The company uses the specific example of Apple's online store, noting that the website generates an assortment of pseudo-random keys for secure packet transmission.

FCC rule may force carriers to allow 'all' mobile apps
The FCC is on the verge of introducing a new rule that would ban US cellular carriers from blocking Internet-aware mobile apps, a source from within the government agency claims. The tip claims that Chairman Julius Genachowski will use a keynote at the Brooklings Institute on Monday to provide early details of the rule. The only known detail at the Washington Post is that it would prevent carriers from filtering what users could see and do with online mobile apps.

Apple repeats denial in Google Voice dispute
Apple has already issued a response to today's release of an uncensored Google submission to the FCC, according to Silicon Alley Insider. "We do not agree with all of the statements made by Google in their FCC letter," reads a statement from an Apple representative. Reiterating an earlier point of view, the representative adds that "Apple has not rejected the Google Voice application and we continue to discuss it with Google."

T-Mobile switches on 21Mbps 3G in Philadelphia
T-Mobile on Friday said it has started rolling out the first 3G network in the US to support HSPA+. Currently active through about 20 cell sites in Philadelphia, the new network gives T-Mobile the fastest mobile Internet in the country with peak downloads of 21Mbps and uploads as high as 5.76Mbps. While actual speeds are likely to be much lower, the service is about three times faster than AT&T's newly unveiled 7.2Mbps network plans.

Mobistar launches HD mobile television portal for iPhone
Mobistar has launched an iPhone portal in Belgium that allows users to view HD television from the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. The company has expanded its mobile television range through a partnership with two Belgian broadcasting companies, VRT and RTBF. The new portal will permit Mobistar customers to stream RTBF videos or read the VRT and RTBF news directly from the iPhone interface. Mobistar has also extended its live television range by partnering with other public broadcasters in the country.

iLuv launches new series of Nano, Touch cases

Zune HD selling out?
Microsoft's Zune HD is already encountering sellouts less than a week into its availability, according to multiple reader reports. At Amazon, the 16GB modelremains in stock but the 32GB version is already facing a one- to three-week shipping delay. Visitors to Fry's see a reverse situation where the 16GB model is out of stock; the worst affected so far is Best Buy, which claims to be "backordered" for either capacity.

Apple climbs to No. 20 in brand value rankings
Apple has been rated the 20th best global brand across a variety of industries according to this year's Interbrand report. The company's change in value increased by 12 percent -- creating a brand value of approximately $15.4 billion -- and climbed from the 24th position to its current spot. Seagate outs first 6Gbps, 2TB hard drive
Seagate today updated the Barracuda line to include the industry's first drive to use an 6Gbps SATA interface. The 2TB Barracuda XT has twice as much theoretical bandwidth as existing SATA II drives and gives the disk up to 600MBps in burst transfers. In actual speed, the drive is still fast with a 140MBps sustained transfer rate and is helped by Seagate's first use of 64MB of onboard cache for a mainstream drive.

Apple prompts for feedback on iPhone 3.1 battery problems
Apple is now contacting some iPhone owners individually in a bid to resolve iPhone 3.1 battery problems, reports say. The firmware -- which has been available since September 9th -- has allegedly been responsible for instances of rapid battery drain, even when phones have been placed on standby and had Wi-Fi and Bluetooth disabled. Microsoft branded phones, tablet real after all?
Microsoft's Pink project for its own, self-branded smartphones has gained credibility through a series of leaks in recent hours. Veteran observer Mary Jo Foley maintains the project is real and will provide a software overlay for Windows Mobile 7 with a strong focus on services, most likely involving the Zune Video Marketplace as well as a possible Zune Pass music subscription. One or more stand a chance of being previewed at CES in January, but the OS itself isn't due until the second half of 2010.

EU releases e-mail showing Intel's antitrust 'guilt'
The European Union on Monday shared some e-mail contents that contributed to its decision to fine chipmaker Intel the equivalent of $1.45 billion in May. The e-mails between the chipmaker and its clients allegedly show that Intel pressured buyers into choosing Intel over competitor AMD, via illegal incentives that would delay or keep them from buying AMD products. Intel is still fighting the EU decision, calling the e-mails speculative and originating from lower-level employees that were not involved in the negotiation of the deals in question.

Netgear enters home NAS with Stora
Netgear branched out from pure network hardware to network-attached storage (NAS) this morning with the unveiling of the Stora. Like most drives, it shares a hard drive over the local network using Ethernet and can act as a server for iTunes music as well as DLNA and UPnP devices like the PS3 and Xbox 360. FCC proposes net neutrality rules
FCC chairman Julius Genachowski today matched expectations with a formal proposal of net neutrality rules. AT&T confirms trialing 3G MicroCell
AT&T today confirmed that it's starting a public trial of its 3G MicroCell home router. Company spokesman Seth Bloom acknowledged that the carrier is already offering service in Charlotte, North Carolina that gives users unlimited calling on the in-home device and lets devices without Wi-Fi use their already unlimited data plans on a more reliable cellular link. As with other femtocells, it works by creating a local, secure cellular hotspot that uses an existing home Internet connection to bridge to the phone network.

Toshiba preps ultra-small SATA solid-state drives
Toshiba took advantage of Intel's upcoming Developer Forum to launch some of the smallest full-speed solid-state drives in the industry. Both 30GB and 62GB drives are made using 32 nanometer memory and come in the new low-profile mini SATA (mSATA) format and promise the better traits of SSDs in a smaller space. The new storage is a seventh the size of a 2.5-inch notebook SSD but still reads data at up to 180MB per second and writes at 70MB per second, both figures that put it on par with larger drives.

CTIA expresses fear over net neutrality proposal
The CTIA industry advocacy group today reacted harshly to the FCC's suggested net neutrality rules. A statement from the carrier-backed group attempted to foster worries that there might be "unintended consequences" to forcing carriers not to discriminate against certain app types. Samsung 1GHz ARM, camera chips can handle 1080p
Samsung this morning unveiled a pair of components that could give smartphones 1080p video playback and capture. The S5PC110 (not pictured) is based on ARM's faster Cortex-A8 architecture but can run at 1GHz even in the tight space of a smartphone; the feat is achieved through a 45 nanometer manufacturing process that keeps it relatively cool and power-efficient. Running it past even the 833MHz of earlier chips lets it decode and record 1080p video at a full 30 frames per second, including with HDMI 1.3 output of the image at full resolution.

Netflix chief: iPhone, other consoles likely
Netflix should not only branch out to other game consoles but also mobile devices like the iPhone as well, CEO Reed Hastings said later on Monday. Adapter lets LED Cinema Display work on other PCs

Aperture dwindling in popularity?
Apple's Aperture workflow software is losing significant traction with professional photographers, claims Adobe. Citing data gathered by the research firm InfoTrends, Adobe notes that in a 2009 survey, only 12.5 percent of photographers with Macs reported using Aperture for RAW files; by contrast, Adobe's Lightroom software was nearly four times as popular, at 44.4 percent. The figures represent a widening gap, as in 2007, only 26.6 percent chose Lightroom and 14.3 percent chose Aperture.

AppStore: Ungewöhnlich viele Zulassungen am Wochenende
Die Entwickler von über 3000 Applikationen konnten sich am vergangenen Wochenende über die Zulassung zum AppStore freuen. Allein am 18. September hat Apple ganze 1394 Applikationen und Updates in den AppStore aufgenommen. Im Schnitt liegt die Zahle der täglich freigegebenen Apps sonst bei ca 420. 300 der 1400 freigegebenen Applikationen waren Spiele.

Google adds support for push Gmail via Exchange ActiveSync
Google Sync's pretty awesome as it is, but it's had one glaring flaw in its implementation: no support for Gmail, just Calendar and Contacts, which means you aren't able to get true push email delivered. Well, they've gone ahead and completed the holy Google trinity today with the introduction of Gmail support into the Exchange ActiveSync mix, so any phone with Exchange support should theoretically be able to get in on the action. We say "theoretically" because they're only quoting support for the iPhone and Windows Mobile at this point, but it seems like anything that can speak the EAS protocol should be able to make this happen. Computers not waking from sleep with OS X 10.6.1
A few people on the Apple discussion boards have reported a problem where upon updating to OS X 10.6.1 their systems will not wake up from sleep mode. It is unclear whether the system fully powers off or just does not wake up, but regardless it requires people to press and hold the power button to get the computer running again.

Intel's upcoming Core i7 four-core parts for notebooks, nicknamed Clarksfield, should be much faster per clock cycle compared to their existing Core 2 Quad counterparts based on tests published today. Windows Marketplace 'killswitch' only a last resort
A controversial remote deletion option for the Windows Marketplace is only a failsafe, according to Microsoft. The feature will allow Microsoft to remove applications from any Windows Mobile phone, with or without the consent of owners. SteelSeries intros Siberia v2 headset
Gaming peripheral maker SteelSeries on Friday announced it will soon release the SteelSeries Siberia v2 full-size headset. As the name implies, it will replace the Siberia headset released in 2004, with the main improvement being the retractable boom microphone that comes out of the left ear cup. Sprint WiMax service to go live in Chicago on Oct. 6
Sprint will sell its 4G WiMAX mobile broadband service to Chicago residents starting on October 6th, when it will officially be announced during a press event. Apple and eBay are among many online retailers named in a new patent infringement lawsuit, reports say. FCC rule may force carriers to allow 'all' mobile apps
The FCC is on the verge of introducing a new rule that would ban US cellular carriers from blocking Internet-aware mobile apps, a source from within the government agency claims. The tip claims that Chairman Julius Genachowski will use a keynote at the Brooklings Institute on Monday to provide early details of the rule. T-Mobile switches on 21Mbps 3G in Philadelphia
T-Mobile on Friday said it has started rolling out the first 3G network in the US to support HSPA+. Currently active through about 20 cell sites in Philadelphia, the new network gives T-Mobile the fastest mobile Internet in the country with peak downloads of 21Mbps and uploads as high as 5.76Mbps. While actual speeds are likely to be much lower, the service is about three times faster than AT&T's newly unveiled 7.2Mbps network plans.

Mobistar has launched an iPhone portal in Belgium that allows users to view HD television from the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. The company has expanded its mobile television range through a partnership with two Belgian broadcasting companies, VRT and RTBF. Seagate outs first 6Gbps, 2TB hard drive
Seagate today updated the Barracuda line to include the industry's first drive to use an 6Gbps SATA interface. The 2TB Barracuda XT has twice as much theoretical bandwidth as existing SATA II drives and gives the disk up to 600MBps in burst transfers. In actual speed, the drive is still fast with a 140MBps sustained transfer rate and is helped by Seagate's first use of 64MB of onboard cache for a mainstream drive.

Apple is now contacting some iPhone owners individually in a bid to resolve iPhone 3.1 battery problems, reports say. Microsoft's Pink project for its own, self-branded smartphones has gained credibility through a series of leaks in recent hours. EU releases e-mail showing Intel's antitrust 'guilt'
The European Union on Monday shared some e-mail contents that contributed to its decision to fine chipmaker Intel the equivalent of $1.45 billion in May. The e-mails between the chipmaker and its clients allegedly show that Intel pressured buyers into choosing Intel over competitor AMD, via illegal incentives that would delay or keep them from buying AMD products. Intel is still fighting the EU decision, calling the e-mails speculative and originating from lower-level employees that were not involved in the negotiation of the deals in question.

Netgear enters home NAS with Stora
Netgear branched out from pure network hardware to network-attached storage (NAS) this morning with the unveiling of the Stora. Like most drives, it shares a hard drive over the local network using Ethernet and can act as a server for iTunes music as well as DLNA and UPnP devices like the PS3 and Xbox 360. FCC proposes net neutrality rules
FCC chairman Julius Genachowski today matched expectations with a formal proposal of net neutrality rules. AT&T confirms trialing 3G MicroCell
AT&T today confirmed that it's starting a public trial of its 3G MicroCell home router. Company spokesman Seth Bloom acknowledged that the carrier is already offering service in Charlotte, North Carolina that gives users unlimited calling on the in-home device and lets devices without Wi-Fi use their already unlimited data plans on a more reliable cellular link. As with other femtocells, it works by creating a local, secure cellular hotspot that uses an existing home Internet connection to bridge to the phone network.

Toshiba preps ultra-small SATA solid-state drives
Toshiba took advantage of Intel's upcoming Developer Forum to launch some of the smallest full-speed solid-state drives in the industry. Both 30GB and 62GB drives are made using 32 nanometer memory and come in the new low-profile mini SATA (mSATA) format and promise the better traits of SSDs in a smaller space. The new storage is a seventh the size of a 2.5-inch notebook SSD but still reads data at up to 180MB per second and writes at 70MB per second, both figures that put it on par with larger drives.

Amazon on Sunday announced the launch of its own brand of products, called AmazonBasics, which thus far includes AV cables and blank DVD media, but will expand soon with more basic consumer electronics with budget pricing. There is no word on what upcoming accessories AmazonBasics will offer, but the company is listening to customer feedback to help it make its decisions.

CTIA expresses fear over net neutrality proposal
The CTIA industry advocacy group today reacted harshly to the FCC's suggested net neutrality rules. A statement from the carrier-backed group attempted to foster worries that there might be "unintended consequences" to forcing carriers not to discriminate against certain app types. The claim also suggested that all cellular devices might "be the same" if the rules took effect, as it would theoretically force device makers to allow a level playing field.

Analyst recommends caution on Apple stock
Bill Fearnley, an analyst with FTN Equity Capital, has dropped his rating for Apple stock, lowering it from Buy to Neutral. Samsung 1GHz ARM, camera chips can handle 1080p
Samsung this morning unveiled a pair of components that could give smartphones 1080p video playback and capture. The S5PC110 (not pictured) is based on ARM's faster Cortex-A8 architecture but can run at 1GHz even in the tight space of a smartphone; the feat is achieved through a 45 nanometer manufacturing process that keeps it relatively cool and power-efficient. Running it past even the 833MHz of earlier chips lets it decode and record 1080p video at a full 30 frames per second, including with HDMI 1.3 output of the image at full resolution.

Netflix chief: iPhone, other consoles likely
Netflix should not only branch out to other game consoles but also mobile devices like the iPhone as well, CEO Reed Hastings said later on Monday. Although Microsoft claims an Xbox 360 exclusive for game systems, Hastings expects the streaming version of his video service to eventually arrive on "all" consoles as well as Blu-ray players and TVs. Seagate this morning promised a new level of security for work-oriented hard drives by shipping its first Self-Encrypted Drives (SED). The Cheetah 15K.7, Constellation, Savvio 10K.3 and Savvio 15K.2 all automatically protect data that isn't immediately being used. They all have an encryption engine that processes information on the fly but without slowing down the drives' actual speed.

Adapter lets LED Cinema Display work on other PCs
Atlona has recently introduced its DVI to Mini DisplayPort Converter, the AT-DP200, that finally lets users convert their notebook or other dual-link DVI video outputs into the Mini DisplayPort connection found on Apple's 24-inch LED Cinema Display. Up until now, it was impossible for users of Macs before the unibody MacBooks, or any Windows-based PC, to easily use the Apple-developed but now standard output format with their peripherals.

Aperture dwindling in popularity?
Apple's Aperture workflow software is losing significant traction with professional photographers, claims Adobe. Citing data gathered by the research firm InfoTrends, Adobe notes that in a 2009 survey, only 12.5 percent of photographers with Macs reported using Aperture for RAW files; by contrast, Adobe's Lightroom software was nearly four times as popular, at 44.4 percent. The figures represent a widening gap, as in 2007, only 26.6 percent chose Lightroom and 14.3 percent chose Aperture.

1.400 Apps allein am Freitag, über 80.000 gesamt

Apple Store walkout planned
ifoAppleStore is reporting that employees of a Seattle area Apple Store are planning a 1PM walkout on October 3rd. Alderwood Mall retail employees cite “abusive” management and possible state and federal labor law violations at the store. Their complaints have have gone unheard (until now, most probably) by Apple's upper management.
According to insiders, the employees’ complaints haven’t been fully investigated by the company’s human resources department. After reaching an impasse with Sr. VP Retail Ron Johnson over the issue, a group of Specialists, Geniuses and Creatives say they will walk out to bring attention to their complaints, and that several former employees will join the protest.

Sharing the experience of many urban iPhone owners, CNET's Elinor Mills explains how she's been having iPhone voice issues for the past two years. In fact she's gone so far as to say that with the US iPhone's carrier, AT&T, the iPhone isn't even a phone.

Is your name "harborneb?" It is? Then you might be out of a job. That's the name attributed to the author of a Microsoft Word document sitting on SEGA America's official FTP site at this very moment. The .doc file resides in SEGA's otherwise benign "news" directory. Now, it's very possible that the document could have been uploaded in jest as an Internet prank. But assuming it's real, then these meeting minutes between SEGA and Sony on August 5th reveal quite a few tantalizing details. After having charge Intel with a record fine of 1.06 billion Euro, Intel appealed, considering that most claims were suspicion and no real proof. First USB 3.0 Certified Controller from NEC
NEC announced their controller µPD720200 has been certified for USB 3.0, a proof that beside prototypes being demoed at the IDF, some companies are already entering mass production.
It features a PCI Express 2.0 interface to be connected to the motherboard controller, either directly via a dedicated line or via a PCI Express slot if it is hosted on a extension card, to bring compatibility to the new format for an older computer.NEC expects this new USB 3.0 format to have captured 30% of the peripheral market in 2013, a rather slow adoption if this prediction turns true. This would then indicate that the USB 3.0 will remain synonym of expensive or high-end peripherals or Pro products. It might also be a way for NEC to make OEM and customers aware that the company does not intend to sale this new controller at a low price.

AMD to bring six-core 'Thuban' processor to the consumer realm

Shortly after introducing a six-core processor in the server sector, AMD is reportedly angling to issue a hexa-core chip over on the consumer side. The chip maker has confirmed to Maximum PC that a six-core slab of silicon (codenamed Thuban) will be released in 2010, with the real kicker being that it'll be fully backwards compatible with existing AM3 and AM2+ mainboards. Microsoft fesses up to 802.11n Xbox 360 adapter, short on details
In a startlingly new twist on the standard non-denial denial of the incredibly obvious existence of an upcoming product, Microsoft has done the world a favor in confirming the 802.11n adapter it has in the works for the Xbox 360.
