Keymote: Multifunktionale Mac-Fernsteuerung
Der AppStore-Download Keymote (AppStore-Link) kostet 3€, funktioniert nun im Zusammenspiel mit einem Mac und setzt sowohl ein W-Lan Netzwerk als auch die Installation der hier verfügbaren Server-Applikation auf eurem Rechner voraus.
Damit hätten wir die Negativ-Liste auch schon abgehakt, denn abgesehen von den oben beschrieben Voraussetzungen, gibt es am Keymote-Konzept nicht viel zu kritisieren.

Redbox debuts $2 video game rentals, pretty lean on titles thus far

Seit Wochen halten sich Gerüchte, dass Apples iPod touch der 3. Generation eine Kamera wie das iPhone erhalten wird. Bisher wurden diese Gerüchte insbesondere durch Abbildungen von zukünftigen Schutzhüllen von Drittherstellern genährt, die eine entsprechende Aussparung an der Rückseite aufwiesen.

TomTom-Navigationssoftware im App Store aufgetaucht
Angekündigt war sie schon länger und nun ist die Navigationslösung von TomTom endlich im App Store aufgetaucht. Vorerst nur im iTunes Store Neuseeland ist die Software erhältlich, es ist aber damit zu rechnen, dass sie in den nächsten Stunden und Tagen in weiteren App Stores erscheinen wird.

TomTom erscheint im App Store Neuseeland
Das Warten auf die iPhone-Version von TomTom hat ein Ende. Das Navigationspaket ist jetzt in vier Varianten im neuseeländischen App Store erhältlich: Western Europe (85 Euro), USA & Kanada (60 Euro), Neuseeland (60 Euro) und Australien (50 Euro).
Die obigen Links werden aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach im Laufe der nächsten Stunden auch im deutschen App Store funktionieren.

Xbox 360 'only console to show growth this year' according to Microsoft
Dubbing itself "the industry's sole bright spot in 2009," Microsoft has spun some depressing console sale decline numbers from NPD into a self-congratulating piece on the Xbox 360's singular success this year. Zweite Klage gegen Apple und AT&T wegen fehlendem MMS
Das können sich viele vermutlich kaum vorstellen: In den USA wurde bereits die zweite Klage wegen dem fehlenden MMS eingereicht. In der in Illinois eingereichten Klage beschwert sich Kläger Tim Meeker und andere nicht namentlich genannte Kläger darüber, dass beide Fakten zur MMS-Funktionalität falsch dargestellt, nicht veröffentlicht oder angelassen hätten. Diese falsche Darstellung habe vor allem in der Werbung stattgefunden, dort habe Apple intensiv mit der Verfügbarkeit von MMS geworben.

Quake Live kommt für Linux und Mac
Bereits seit Februar können Windows-Nutzer id Softwares im Browser laufenden und auf Quake III Arena basierenden 3D-Shooter Quake Live kostenlos in einer Beta-Version testen. Ab dem 18. Bilder der Verpackung von Snow Leopard
Bis zur Veröffentlichung von Snow Leopard vergeht nicht mehr viel Zeit. Apple hatte den September als Veröffentlichungsmonat angegeben, vor kurzem kamen aber Gerüchte auf, dass Snow Leopard bereits im August in den Regalen stehen könnte. Sapphire bringt HD4650-Grafikkarte für den AGP-Slot

SLI soon possible in the Mac Pro?
After staunchly refusing to offer SLI on anything other than its own chipsets, Nvidia just changed its mind and authorised its activation on motherboards using the Intel P55 chipset. It is thus possible to theorise on the arrival of SLI in the next generation of Apple products using this chipset (currently the Mac Pro).We are curious to know what Nvidia has obtained from Intel in exchange for this concession, perhaps formal authorisation to be able to use licenses relating to the Nehalem processors.

Multi-touch Trackpad Update for Windows
Apple has released for download a version 1.1 update for Multi-Touch trackpads under Windows. It is for XP and Vista.
It is supposed to fix a problem with the MacBook Airs from the end of 2008 and mid 2009 as well as the aluminum MacBook from the end of 2008.

A Keynote on September 7th?
According to Engadget, who obtained the information from multiple sources, Apple will be organising a keynote on the 7th of September for a special event.
Without any doubt, this will bring the announcement of new products. The most likely will be the new iPods which we have previously spoken about.
We're waiting for an iPod nano with a built in camera and an iPod Touch with a camera and a microphone in which the prices will be $199 for the 16 GB, $299 for the 32 GB, and $399 for the 64 GB.
It is also highly likely that this date will bring the end to the iPod Classic which is no longer in line with the AppStore strategy which is a huge income generator for Apple.

WD TV-2 spruces up Western Digital's already attractive media player offering
Western Digital really hit a sweet spot last year with its $130 WD TV HD Media Player. The thing pumped out 1080p over HDMI at an attractive price, and that's all most people really needed. The newly leaked WD TV-2 revisits the formula, but adds in network playback over the new Ethernet jack, DTS audio decoding, and a component video plug for folks caught in the technological no man's land between composite and HDMI. Outside of that there's a just plain silly amount of codec support, which is hard not to love. No word on price or a release date, but the leaked photos and detailed specs seem to imply this thing is ready for prime time.Filed under:

Wer hätte das gedacht, auf der Snow-Leopard-Verpackung wird weder eine Gieskanne noch ein Stück Erdbeertorte abgebildet werden. Stattdessen ist auf den Mac Rumors zugespielten Fotos ein Schneeleopard zu sehen, auf die Angabe der Versionsnummer wird wie beim ersten Leo zumindest auf dem Cover verzichtet. Interessanter als die Frage nach dem Gemütszustands des abgebildeten Leoparden (vermutlich genervt weil er nicht auf das Tablet darf) ist aber, was dies für den Zeitpunkt der Veröffentlichung bedeuten könnte.

Psystar sucht kritische Fragen an Apple-Größen - per Web
Über diesen Prozess dürfte irgendwann ein Buch geschrieben werden: Der sich nach wie vor mit Apple in einem Rechtsstreit befindliche Clone-Hersteller Psystar versucht sich an Jura 2.0. Sollte es der Masterplan der Firma gewesen sein, einfach nur mal mit Apple-Größen zu sprechen, ohne sich bei der New York Times hocharbeiten zu müssen, ist dies jedenfalls gelungen. Per Web sucht Psystar nun nach kritischen Fragen an führende Apple-Angestellte.

Sony Alpha 850 leaked, looks exactly like the Alpha 900?
This photo of what is presumably the upcoming Sony α850 DSLR was spotted by Photo Rumors on an unnamed retail site. It looks exactly the same as the α900, but doesn't really seem off on layout compared to the leaked α850 manual. The scary part is that the camera is listed for 1,999 Euro (about $2,833 US), so hopefully Sony is doing something a bit more wonderful under the hood than just those α900 downgrades that have been hinted at so far.Filed under: Digital Cameras

It would appear from these leaked images of Snow Leopard printed discs and packaging that the release would likely be before the September timetable set at WWDC. Even sitting on these for two weeks until the "talked-about" August 28th date might be hard to do. With hundreds of thousand of people unable to wait until the official launch and downloading the Torrent, perhaps Apple will push the launch up even further.

Creepy, laughter-tracking PS3 patent has us rethinking Sony's whole PlayStation Eye strategy
Don't they know people look at these things? A recently awarded PS3 patent includes this harrowing "FIG. 2," which portrays a fictional idiot laughing at some "Crazy Inventors" programming, while the PS3 tracks Mr. Laugh's every movement and sound through the PlayStation Eye. The brooding, spiteful console could theoretically pick up on different moods like sadness, excitement, joy and boredom -- before presumably changing up action onscreen to quell that pesky uprising of "emotion" in the subject.

T-Mobile-Preiserhöhung: Fehlalarm
Anfang der Woche kamen Gerüchte auf, dass T-Mobile eine Gerätepreiserhöhung für die günstigen Tarife planen würde. Als Stichtag wurde der 15. August 2009 genannt. Google Chrome 3.0.198.1 und Vorschau auf Chrome 4.0
Ein neues Developer Release von Google Chrome (Mac & Linux) steht zum Download bereit. Version 3.0.198.1 bringt für Mac den Verlauf über den Vor- und Zurück-Button als Drop-Down-Menü wieder zurück. Probleme mit den installierbaren Themes wurden behoben. Ein immer noch bestehender Bug ist allerdings die fehlende Unterstützung für Quicktime.
