Apple issueing $30 iTunes credit for AT&T activaation issues

iPhone 3G S customers who've had serious issues activating their new iPhones appear to be getting an email from Apple apologizing.  The apology comes in the way of a $30 iTunes gift certificate. Dear Apple Customer, Thank you for your recent Apple Store order. We appreciate your patience and apologize for the inconvenience caused by the delay in your iPhone activation. We are still resolving the issue that was encountered while activating your iPhone with AT&T. Unfortunately, due to system issues and continued high activation volumes, this could take us up to an additional 48 hours to complete. On Monday, you'll receive an email from Apple with an iTunes Store credit in the amount of $30. Nur wenige Tage nach der offiziellen Einführung von OS 3.0 (Build 7A341) für iPhone und iPod Touch hat das iPhone Dev Team Freitag Abend das PwnageTool für Mac OS vorgestellt, das den freien Zugriff auf das Dateisystem von iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G und iPod Touch 1G realisiert. Das neue Modell 3G S und der iPod Touch 2G werden von dem Programm noch nicht unterstützt. Ebenso ist es zurzeit nicht möglich, den Sim/Net-Lock des iPhone 3G zu umgehen. Das ist nur mit dem iPhone der ersten Generation möglich.

Second source reports Jobs liver transplant in Tennessee

CNBC, almost exactly 24 hours after the WSJ, published their take on the Steve Jobs liver transplant operation.  Result:  Exact same information.  They also threw in that he had flown to Memphis in late March - which could be obtained from his personal jet flight logs. Does anyone else out there get the feeling this is an Apple timed/planned leak?  Friday evening and Saturday evening after hours releases (stock market closed, etc), no source identification, and the exact same scant information at both news agencies.  If you are interested in the stalker details of the house information, you might want to have a look at Cult of Mac. Second source reports Jobs liver transplant in Tennessee

CNBC, almost exactly 24 hours after the WSJ, published their take on the Steve Jobs liver transplant operation.  Result:  Exact same information.  They also threw in that he had flown to Memphis in late March - which could be obtained from his personal jet flight logs. Does anyone else out there get the feeling this is an Apple timed/planned leak?  Friday evening and Saturday evening after hours releases (stock market closed, etc), no source identification, and the exact same scant information at both news agencies.  If you are interested in the stalker details of the house information, you might want to have a look at Cult of Mac. iPhone 3G S and Pre head-to-head benchmarks: iPhone barely wins

Now that we know the iPhone 3G S and the Palm Pre share extremely similar 65nm ARM Cortex A8-based internals, it's time to break out the stopwatches and see how these blood brothers stack up. Anandtech has the first head-to-head tests we've seen, and it seems like the 3G S has the slight edge, loading a series of web pages 11 percent faster than the Pre, and a whopping 54 percent faster than the iPhone 3G. Not too shabby, but not exactly a thorough drubbing either -- especially when you consider webOS is still 1.0 and there's likely some optimizations to come.

Steve Jobs had a liver transplant two months ago - WSJ.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Steve Jobs traveled to Tennessee to have a liver transplant around two months ago.  He is recovering well and is expected to return to work on schedule later this month, though he may work part-time initially. Bloomberg originally reported that Jobs was considering a liver transplant on January 16th.  They cited people monitoring his illness and said it was a result of complications after treatment for pancreatic cancer in 2004.  When contacted by Bloomberg, Jobs said: “Why don’t you guys leave me alone -- why is this important?”  the transplant might work out well in a patient whose neuroendocrine cancer began
