Blue Wave 4 firmware for Samsung P2 previewed?

Samsung just launched the Blue Wave 3 firmware for the YP-P2 and T10 today, but we're already hearing whispers of Blue Wave 4 -- check out this image that's popped up on some forums. Apparently all you P2 owners out there can look forward to customizable (and shareable) UI skins, some new Bluetooth-based games, subway maps, custom EQ settings, password controls, and voice recording sometime in the future, but we have no idea when. Office Open XML ist ISO-Norm

Dell plans to slash 8,800 jobs, cut $3 billion in costs

Web surfers turn to Mac
Apple accounted for 7.58 per cent of all US internet users in March, the latest Net Applications data confirms.
The figures, which reflect the operating systems used by Web surfers through a series of tracked sites, confirm increasing Mac usage. Mac took 6.48 per cent of internet users in May 2007 and has been growing steadily ever since.
Windows remains dominant, accounting for 91.57 per cent of web user machines, but Apple's iPhone is securing its fourth place slot as the most used platform for internet browsing, with 0.15 per cent of total. While a small number, that's significant when contrasted to other systems used to access the Web, and how long some of these have been made available - it's higher than PlayStation, for example.

ChangeWave confirms its iPhone versus BlackBerry
The smartphone sector is gripped by a struggle for dominance that's emerging as between Apple's iPhone and Research In Motion's BlackBerry, according to the latest consumer survey from ChangeWave.
The survey asked 3,597 consumers to share their views on smartphones, and while the research confirms RIM continues to dominate the existing consumer smartphone market, Apple's iPhone has "huge momentum" for future growth.
In terms of current market share, BlackBerry deployment has slipped one percentage point to 42 per cent. Apple has quickly shot to third place in the market occupying 9 per cent share, just a few percentage points behind second place manufacturer, Palm, with 16 per cent.

Auch wenn es heute so scheinen mag: Der Erfolg von Microsoft kam nicht über Nacht. Der schier unendliche finanzielle Rückhalt, die dominante Stellung auf dem Software-Markt und die große Akzeptanz in der Weltbevölkerung fingen damals in einer kleinen Garage an. Seit dem sind viele, viele Jahre vergangen und nur mit guten Geschäftsverbindungen und Verhandlungsgeschick konnte Bill Gates seine heutige Position einnehmen. Erstes Active-Matrix-Display mit Nanodrähten

HPI's G-Dog sniffs out your human wreckage

HPI Japan just conjured up GR-001's new best friend: the G-Dog. The DIY, four-legged robot with a taste for jugulars and what appears to be a sword for a tail stands just 5.3-inches tall and features the same control unit and sensors of his bipedal buddy. Presumably, G-Dog will only respond to street-wize greetings of "Whut up Gee?" and "'Sup Dawg?" at which point he'll lubricate his turf (aka, your carpet). A bug in the Apple TV 2.0.1 update
Source : XLR8yourMac A relatively minor bug affects the 2.0.1 update of the Apple TV. With this firmware, connections with the Airport N configured to use the 5 GHz frequency no longer work when using the option WIDE CHANNEL.
A work around to this problem is either to use the 2.4 GHz band or to disable the WIDE BAND.
We will take this opportunity to say a few words about the little used 5 GHz option and also the WIDE BAND option.
The band of 5 GHz is less used than the usual 2.4 GHz, but it is very useful downtown if you are surrounded by many wi-fi networks.
The WIDE BAND option allows the base station to use a bigger bandwidth. This only works with the 5 GHz band since it can cause perturbations to neighbouring networks. However if this is not a problem for you, you can reach the maximum rate for wi-fi N of 300 Mbits/s compared to the maximum of 130 Mbits/s with the 2.4 MHz band.

Apple übernimmt O2: UMTS-iPhone im Mai

Final-Cut-Pro-Nutzer treffen sich auf der NAB

Munster glaubt an 45 Millionen iPhones 2009...
und damit meint er nicht etwa, dass er vorhabe, 45 Millionenen iPhones im nächsten Jahr zu kaufen. Für derartig monsterhafte Verkaufsprognosen wird der Piper-Jaffray-Analyst von einigen Investoren kritisiert, doch er hält seine Zahl für realistisch. Würde es Apple gelingen, würden die Einnahmen etwa 11,7 Milliarden US-Dollar betragen, was einem Gesamtanteil an Apples Jahresergebnis von geschätzten 25 Prozent entspräche.
