  TDK made a new technological demonstration of Blu-ray having succeeded in putting on a 12 cm wafer 12 layers of 32 GB. Even though we get this type of announcement regularly, TDK is separated here by the hardware requirement for reading and burning these media. NVidia has tricked us with its presentation of Fermi

Last week, NVidia presented with a grand ceremony its future graphics chip called Fermi. On this occasion a card was shown and photographed by the invited journalists. A detailed study of the photographs showed that the card could not be functional, certain connectors are not soldered and others are missing. Faced with these unarguable facts NVidia admitted that they have presented something less than a prototype, and more a model of a future product. In fact this awkwardness is without much consequence. Indilix rewrite totally the firmware for Barefoot

During the month of August, OCZ and other manufacturers of SSD discs based on the Barefoot controller from Indilix offered an important firmware update of their products that brought primarily a function making it possible for the disc to regenerate its memory cells during periods of inactivity in order to optimize them so that they reach their initial write speed. In the final analysis this firmware has proven to be very problematic. The system of regeneration, the Nand Launderer was very aggressive and consumed a lot of power causing a reduction of the battery life of portables. On the Mac, there were bugs such as the impossiblity to wake from sleep. After having attempting to regulate the problems with two updates, Indilix withdraw the firmware and decided to begin again at zero. The operators of mobile telephone networks obliged to allow VOIP??

PCinpact discovered that a legal text passed within the framework of the European Télécom package will create an enormous problem for the mobile telephone operators. Video: PSP Go hacked, says 'hello world!'

As you'd expect, as soon as the PSP Go hit the shelves the homebrew community came out in force, looking to see which of its fave hacks and exploits might have made the trip from the original PSP to its UMD-less brethren. And here we are, with two videos posted by YouTube member Freeplay offering us tantalizing proof that indeed, at least one has. Apple Legal plans legal action against Australia retailer, Woolworths, over use of a logo the computer company thinks is too similar to its own. Woolworths insists its logo is no more than a stylised W, but Apple plans a legal challenge all the same. How similar do the two logos appear to you? Searchengineland reports that The iPhone maps application has started to serve ads by Google.  They've got the screenshots to back it up as well.  It isn't immediately clear whether or not Apple will share the revenue stream with Google, although this might be a possible reason for them to consider doing mapping on their own.

250GB PS3 Slim spotted at retail in dapper gray box

The new 250 PS3 Slim might be listed "in stock" on Amazon.co.uk, but it's not arriving until October 6th according to the online retailer. Gyrobike's Gyrowheel stabilizes a kid's first bike without the training wheels

Being the fine physical specimens that we are, even from an early age, we of course had little trouble learning how to ride a bike without external help, but we're sure **some hapless child out there will welcome the Gyrowheel as salvation from the embarrassment of training wheels. The 12-inch wheel (a 16-inch version is in the works) replaces a standard front tire and has an adjustable-speed spinning disc inside, powered by a rechargeable battery. The idea is that you get the kid started on a high stability setting, and step them down until they're not using the gyro at all. It goes on sale this December and should retail for around $100. Google Ads deuten auf neue iMacs und MacBooks hin

Offensichtlich versehentlich geschaltete Google-Anzeigen deuten auf ein unmittelbar bevorstehendes Update für den iMac, den Mac mini und das weiße MacBook hin. Die Anzeigen waren für kurze Zeit online und bewarben einen neuen iMac mit überarbeitetem, ultradünnem Gehäuse sowie ein dünneres, schnelleres und auch leichteres weißes 13"-MacBook und einen Mac mini zum Preis von 499 Euro (aktuell 599 Euro). Screenshots gibt's bei AppleInsider. Es ist durchaus wahrscheinlich, dass die Anzeigen irrtümlich veröffentlicht wurden und auf Tatsachen basieren - eine Fälschung wäre, wenn überhaupt platzierbar, mit sehr viel Aufwand und entsprechendem Nachspiel verbunden. Es deutet also alles auf ein kurzfristiges Produktupdate für die genannten Geräte hin - womöglich bereits am Dienstag.
