Archos readying Phone Tablet with Android
Archos in the same presentation that unveiled the Archos 5 has also confirmed that the company plans to enter the smartphone market with a high-end media phone. The tentatively-titled Phone Tablet is aimed at the same high performance, full touchscreen category as handsets like the iPhone 3GS or Toshiba TG01 and would be tailored to match. It should have a slightly smaller screen than the Archos 5 at a still-large 4.3 inches but a higher 854x480 resolution and a 1GHz ARM Cortex processor, both of which would put it above competing phones today.

Wie gemacht für ein Papier-iPhone, aber zur Not tut es auch ein echtes iPhone oder ein iPod touch: Julien Madérou hat einen iPhone-Ständer zum Herunterladen und Ausdrucken gestaltet. Richtig zusammengefaltet findet das iPhone in einer leichten Schrägposition Halt, an eine Aussparung für das USB-Kabel wurde gedacht. Alle Anweisungen sind im PDF enthalten, der Stabilität zuliebe sollte man den Ständer nicht gerade auf dünnem Büropapier ausdrucken.

MSI ships 12.1-inch, Athlon Neo-equipped Wind U210
MSI's Wind U210 has certainly been making the rounds, but it has yet to plant its feet firmly on US soil. Until today, obviously. Checking in at 3.2 pounds, this 12.1-inch netbook is equipped with a larger-than-usual 1,366 x 768 display, AMD's 1.6GHz Athlon Neo MV-40 processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB hard drive and a 6-cell battery that's reportedly good for four hours of usage. Motorola wants Android on all US carriers
Motorola is involved in talks with large US carriers in releasing its Android-powered Cliq handset, according to Co-CEO Sanjay Jha speaking in a Monday WSJ report (sub required). Thus far, only T-Mobile has been confirmed to get the phone, with shipments believed to start as early as October or November. A Motorola Android handset, codenamed Sholes for Verizon, has also been linked to AT&T. Jha has said Motorola hopes to eventually offer its Android handsets through all US wireless providers. The executive expects to release more Android handsets in 2010.

Volkswagen E-Up! concept rolls into Frankfurt, hits the road in 2013
Volkswagen's E-Up! concept vehicle has been making the rounds for a little while now, but it looks like the automaker has really stepped up its game (and hype machine) for its appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show, where it also took the opportunity to announce a launch date. That will apparently happen sometime in 2013, when Volkswagen hopes that the vehicle will become nothing short of "the Beetle of the 21st century." ViewSonic intros six new HDTVs
TV and monitor maker ViewSonic on Tuesday introduced six new LCD HDTVs, ranging from a 20-inch set that can double as a computer monitor to a 42-inch HDTV. Starting from smallest to largest, the 20-inch VT2042 has a resolution of 1600x900, the 23-inch VT2342 gets a 1920x1080 screen while the VT2645 has 1366x768 pixels in its display.

Moto Cliq orders likely to start October 19th
More evidence of a mid-October release of the recently unveiled Motorola Cliq handset has appeared in a Tuesday TmoNews leak. A photograph of a brochure showing a pre-order date of October 19th of Motorola's first Android device has surfaced, corroborating an earlier report that showed the Cliq launching at T-Mobile in October; this now narrows it down to a specific date for advance purchases.

Belkin has introduced its Home Base networking hub on Tuesday, which allows users to share peripherals using their existing wireless networks, including printers, external hard drives or other USB devices. iPhone 3GS VoiceOver accessibility features can also help with heads up navigation
The iPhone 3GS has some significant Voice Over navigation features built to help the seeing-impaired use the iPhone. However, we can see this functionality helping anyone who can't look down at their iPhone while they are doing another activity. Changing a iTunes track while driving, for instance, becomes a lot easier with voice navigation.

New Seagate FreeAgent Theater is a solid AppleTV competitor
Seagate sent us their new $150 FreeAgent Theater+ HD to review yesterday and we haven't really put the remote down since. The device picks up a bit from where AppleTV leaves off in terms of format compatibility. Is the interface as polished as AppleTV? Of course not. But it plays just about every media type (movies, photos and music) from your network shares, not just Apple's preferred file types. It will even play 1080P videos with Dolby sound over Gigabit Ethernet without skipping.

Macworld test: new iPod touch. spoiler: twice as fast
Dan Frakes at Macworld ran some basic tests on the new (but cameraless) iPod touch and got some interesting results. Most tests had the new iPod touch coming in around twice as fast as the previous model with browser tests going over 2X speed. Apple only claims a 50% improvement in speed on its website. Does the speed make up for the lack of a camera?
Note: the current 8GB version has the same processor as the previous model.

Archos phone tablet teased: Android, 4.3-inch touschscreen, 1GHz ARM processor
In an all-too brief teaser at a press conference across the pond, Archos decided to give a few more details and a teaser pic of the Android phone it announced back in February. According to the slide, it's got a 4.3-inch touchscreen with 854 x 480 resolution, a 1GHz ARM processor -- likely comparable to Archos 5, but pretty powerful considering what all other Android phones have so far arrived with -- and a 10mm-thick shell. Wacom Bamboo Touch tablet leaked
An upcoming tablet PC from Wacom has been spotted on the Internet, thanks to an anonymous source. Specs aren't completely clear in the shots given to Engadget, with the text on the box for the device revealing mostly that the Bamboo Touch tablet will support multi-touch input. However, the move would lead to the first Wacom device designed to work with only finger contact, as its previous tablets like the Intuos 4 have always depended on pressure-based stylus control.

Apple clarifies iPhone 3.1 anti-phishing protection
Apple has issued a clarification regarding the iPhone 3.1 firmware's anti-phishing capabilities. Released September 9th, the update includes a promised ability to detect phishing and malware sites while using Safari. Early accounts have shown inconsistent performance however, with some phones recognizing hazards, and others missing them completely. The behavior may create the impression that the feature is broken.

Apple knowledgebase update: Resetting Sync Services
Periodically MobileMe users and people who have synchronized iPhones and iPods to their Macs have run into problems where items will not synchronize or improperly delete entries, duplicate them, or show other odd behavior. When this has happened, I usually suggest resetting the synchronized data on various devices, and then re-sync them all from one device, using it as a master source. If this fails to work, then resetting the SyncServices folder can help.

Bose rolls high-end SoundDock 10 for iPhone, iPod
Bose in an event this afternoon upgraded the SoundDock line with a new, particularly high-end model. The SoundDock 10 adds a dedicated subwoofer to reproduce the low end and has two large transducers that borrow the same technology as found in the Wave radio to project upper- and mid-range frequencies. Fresh for any Bose system is a completely interchangeable dock: it can not only accommodate different iPhones and iPods but can fit an optional $150 Bluetooth receiver for wireless stereo or, in the future, recognize non-Apple players.

Apple's Grand Central Dispatch goes open source -- get at those cores, people
Grand Central Dispatch may not exactly be a household name to the average Apple user, but it's certainly a hot topic among developers, who may know it better as "libdispatch," and are no doubt thrilled that Apple has now made the whole thing open source. Among other things, that means developers are now able to take full advantage of multi-core processors in Snow Leopard, which obviously has some fairly big implications for applications as soon as those developers are able to get a handle on things. MetroPCS details 4G launch
Wireless provider MetroPCS on Tuesday announced some details on its upcoming high-speed 4G LTE mobile broadband network. Due for a release in the second half of 2010, MetroPCS will partner with Ericsson and Samsung to power the provider's 4G LTE service. Along with the service, which will be released thanks to Ericsson infrastructure, MetroPCS plans on launching a dual-mode LTE/CDMA smartphone built by Samsung in the major cities that MetroPCS offers its service late in 2010.

Android-based Archos 5 touch tablet goes live
As promised, Archos today launched its first-ever device to use a smartphone-class OS. The Archos 5 Internet Tablet still uses Archos' own more developed interface for media playback but takes advantage of Google's platform for more advanced web browsing, e-mail, and true third-party apps. Speeding this along is a new app portal known as AppsLib that carries Android apps written with the Archos 5 in mind or reformatted for its input, such as Deezer for Internet radio or ThinkFree Office for Microsoft Office document viewing (and later editing).

Bose SoundDock 10 weighs in with $599 of iPod amplification
So Bose is back to the iPod dock scene a big way -- and we do mean big. The new SoundDock 10 weighs in at 19 pounds and measure 10-inches deep, leaving room for a good-sized woofer, 52-inches of winding, integrated waveguide channels and a pair of Bose "Twiddlers" up top. The Twiddlers are apparently a patented combination of highs and mids, and the new waveguide is an effort to shrink existing Bose tech down to size. Google Chrome 3 narrows speed gap with Safari
Google at midday put out a stable version of Chrome 3, its third revision of the browser in just a year. The release takes significant steps to compete with Safari in sheer performance, particularly in its JavaScript engine. DJ Hero controller hands-on faceoff with an SL-1200MK2
Activision was kind enough to send over an early evaluation copy of DJ Hero, and while we haven't had a chance to dive deeply into the game yet, we thought you might want to see how the controller itself stacks up against one of our Technics SL-1200MK2s. As you might expect, compared to the legendarily tank-like construction of the MK2, the DJ Hero controller looks and feels exactly like the plastic game controller it is, although the wheel itself is nice and weighty and the buttons are pleasantly clicky. MSI launches 22-inch Wind Top all-in-one in US
MSI this afternoon gave its US audience the Wind Top AE2200, the most advanced version of its all-in-one desktop. It gets a 21.6-inch touchscreen with MSI's own interface for apps, editing and games, but it's also treated as a media center with its own TV tuner and HDMI input. Helping the goal along are parts that put it above nettops and let it decode HD, such as a 2.7GHz Pentium dual-core and GMA 4500 video.

Archos 5 Internet Tablet makes an honest PMP out of Android
Android has become many things to many people, but high-powered media devices haven't latched on to the OS just yet. Much of it has to do with the Android's immaturity: from what we hear, it doesn't even support hardware graphics acceleration, much less embrace multimedia and games. Archos has punched through that barrier by porting over its existing media-happy application layer from Linux to make good use of the 800MHz OMAP3440 processor they've stuffed inside the brand new (much leaked) Archos 5 Internet Tablet. French Internet piracy bill advances towards law
The French government has taken one step further towards enacting a controversial piece of Internet piracy legislation, says the Associated Press. A bill today passed through the National Assembly, having already gained approval from the Senate in July. Only one step remains before it becomes law, that being a third approval by a committee bridging both houses of parliament.

Wacom Bamboo multitouch pen tablet spotted by Mr. Blurrycam
It's been awhile since we've seen a new tablet from Wacom. In the meantime, the company has given us a digital DJ interface, but not what we really crave -- a new Bamboo tablet with multi-touch support. So what do we have here? Korean iPhone beset by licensing obstacles
Despite the announcement of a deal by local carrier KT, a South Korean iPhone is still being held up by government licensing issues, says the Korea Times. The Korea Communications Commission has put a hold on approving the device, as a result of the phone's location-based services. In general, any company providing location-based information to Korean customers must have a special license. Companies are often encouraged to situate appropriate servers in the country, even though it is not a strict legal requirement.

Epson on Tuesday introduced two new products, including the PowerLite 1716 mobile projector and Perfection V600 Photo scanner. The PowerLite 1716 weighs less than 4lbs for relatively easy portability and sports a 1024x768 resolution along with a high 2,700 lumens of brightness. Remove preferences and update dyld cache to potentially clear Rosetta problems
The Rosetta dynamic translator that lets PowerPC apps run on an Intel-based Mac is optional and not installed by default on Snow Leopard. While there are Intel versions of most applications available today, for people like me who still have PowerPC utilities it was neat to see Apple make Rosetta dynamically available for download on Macs that do not have it installed but need to run older code. Despite it's availability and ease of installation, at this point I would consider Rosetta to be Apple's last effort at providing PowerPC support, and a feature that is not guaranteed to work.

Intel claims EU fine is without proof, excessive
Intel in European Union court files today fought against the recently imposed $1.45 billion fine for its alleged antitrust violations. The American processor designer believed the European Commission didn't provide enough evidence that Intel practices hurt AMD's European PC business in an "immediate, substantial" way. It instead claimed that AMD was actually gaining share for some of the five-year period covered by the fine and that AMD's struggles were linked more to specific PC builders and regions.

Apple has hired Intel’s top lawyer, Bruce Sewell, replacing the company’s General Counsel and senior vice president, Legal and Government Affairs, Daniel Cooperman, who has served in the role for the last two years and will be retiring at the end of September.

Intel puts more and more into its processors
After having put on its processors, the memory controller and even a graphics card, Intel wants to go even further. In margin of the Intel Developer Forum that is not yet open, the foundry announced the Jasper Forest. It acts simply as a Xeon engraved in 32 Nm and intended for the professional portables. In addition , it will take a controller charged to manage the input/output, like PCI Express. The acknowledged goal of Intel is to simplify to the maximum the structure of the mother boards and to increase the performances thanks to the proximity of the various elements with the central processor. The unstated goal will be certainly to completely block the manufacturers to propose chips (northbridge, southbridge) to accompany the Intel processors on the mother boards.

If you do not want to graft another external PSU to your defective TC, you can also start dissecting it to identify and change the faulty capacitors as indicated by the chief editor of the french website lapastenague.
He replaced the 3 faulty capacitors by 2x 1500uF and 1x 470uF. Everything works fine, even though we would recommend keeping using capacitors with the identical specs than the original ones. As he mentioned it, one should pay attention to unload capacitors to prevent any electrical shock.

One Graphic Card to Manage 6 Displays
In order to feed the buzz around its future generation of GPU, AMD unveiled its technology EyeFinity allowing 6 displays to be supported and managed from a single graphic card.

Graft an External PSU to a Defective Time Capsule
The chief editor of the French website lapastenague was also one of the numerous Time Capsule owners who has seen this device dying after 15-18 month of perfect service.
TEchnically, it is not complicated as the TC unit only requires only 5 V and 12 V lines. He has been using the PSU of an old external HD, and via a Molex and some soldering adapt it to its defective TC.

iTwin lets you share files over the internet
Finally, a product that might finally make this whole internet thing worthwhile by allowing someone to copy a file over it. Amazing, right? Okay, facetiousness aside, it's a little hard to get too excited about a product that will obviously cost something yet replicates a task easily performed for free, but the iTwin does make the process even more easy. Needham ups Apple stock target to $235
Needham & Co. is raising its price target for Apple stock from $200 to $235, says one of the research firm's analysts, Charlie Wolf. sipgate meldet die Verfügbarkeit einer eigenen kostenlosen VoIP App - bislang konnten sipgate-Kunden nur über Anwendungen wie der von Nimbuzz kostengünstige Voice over IP-Features nutzen.
Überdies können Firmenkunden auf ihrem iPhone nun auch unter ihrer internen Durchwahl erreichbar sein. Allerdings ist die Software derzeit nur von Unternehmenskunden nach dem "sipgate team"-Modell einsetzbar. Eine für Privatkunden nutzbare Version wird sipgate in wenigen Wochen nachreichen. Grund für die spätere Verfügbarkeit ist, dass sipgate für Privatkunden eine andere Schnittstelle (API) verwendet.
Internet-Telefonate lassen sich aus den Kontakten wie auch aus der Anrufliste heraus initiieren. Apple's frequently rumored tablet received more details on Tuesday with an apparent leak of production plans. Taiwan's Economic News claims the touchscreen hardware is now slated for February and that companies will start shipping parts in December. Microsoft’s iPod-contender, the Zune HD is shipping now in the US, but the company has played another of its PR master strokes - the products are shipping without software installed.

Apple has applied a quiet “Snow Leopard Tax” against professional photographers using earlier versions of popular pro software package, Aperture.
Digital imaging professionals who rushed to upgrade to the new OS have been distressed when they attempt to open their essential photogs tool, as Apple’s big cat is not prepared to support versions of Aperture earlier than 2.1.4.
An Apple tech support document published in the early hours of this morning confirms the news, warning: “When you attempt to open Aperture 1.5.6 on a computer running Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, the following alert appears: "You can't use this version of the Application Aperture with this version of Mac OS X."”

Apple has applied a quiet “Snow Leopard Tax” against professional photographers using earlier versions of popular pro software package, Aperture.
Digital imaging professionals who rushed to upgrade to the new OS have been distressed when they attempt to open their essential photogs tool, as Apple’s big cat is not prepared to support versions of Aperture earlier than 2.1.4.
An Apple tech support document published in the early hours of this morning confirms the news, warning: “When you attempt to open Aperture 1.5.6 on a computer running Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, the following alert appears: "You can't use this version of the Application Aperture with this version of Mac OS X."”

Apple TV price cut in UK as international discount begins

Tablet Mac in February 2010 ?
A Chinese newspaper reports to have interviewed several manufacturers in the field claiming to be working on a Mac Tablet. According to their information, Apple would start stocking the first samples, with an expected launch early 2010.The Mac Tablet would offer a touch screen of 9.6", a 3G+ network chips, a high capacity battery and a PA Semi processor. The price would range from 799 or 999 USD.

It's been a hot minute since ViewSonic cranked out any new LCDs, but the drought is officially ending today. The firm has just blessed the universe with a fresh half-dozen, a few of which pack 1080p panels and respectable price points. Sinchun's 8.9-inch UMPC-891A holds onto the past with XP
Sinchun got the price right: 2999 Yuan (about $439 US), and the netbook-style specs make a lot of sense for this form factor. Unfortunately, Windows XP does not. Paired up against a stylus-driven 1024 x 600 touchscreen, Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and a variety of smallish SSD options, there's plenty of room for 7's touch enhancements to shine on the UMPC-891A -- but not enough expanse for them to choke up. Intel steigert Markanteile: Bester Wert seit vier Jahren
In einer aktuellen Studie wird der Marktanteil auf dem CPU-Markt ermittelt. Allerdings beziehen sich die zu Grunde liegenden Werte nicht auf die Verkaufszahlen, sondern auf die Branchenumsätze. Microsoft ships non-functional Zune HDs, promises software later?
Microsoft’s iPod-contender, the Zune HD is shipping now in the US, but the company has played another of its PR master strokes - the products are shipping without software installed.
You’ll have to wait until later - perhaps today - for the world’s biggest software developer to get the code you’ll need to actually use the new device. Though you will get to look at the demo movie on the Zune HD’s OLED screen.
“It's a pretty unusual move for a company like Microsoft to put devices into the hands of consumers with no functionality at all, but it seems the Zune team was cranking till the last minute,” EnGadget explains.

The NAS Western Digital are compatible with Time Machine

I have just noted that with the last `firmware' of Western Digital My Book World (numbered 1.00.28), a new user was configured (WD_Backup) and shows up in the Leopard finder as a new disc (with a Time Capsule icon). On Snow Leopard, the disc is present, but without the icon. In both cases, from now on, it is possible to select this new disc to carry out a TimeMachine backup (and it works).

US-Schulen setzen iPod touch für den Englisch-Unterricht ein
In fünf Schulen in Beaufort County, USA, ist der iPod im Klassenraum nicht verboten, sondern ausdrücklich erwünscht (zumindest wenn er von der Schule kommt): Der iPod touch soll an Schulen helfen, die einen hohen Anteil an Schülern haben, für die Englisch nicht die Muttersprache ist. Seit gestern ließ sich das Apple TV mit 40 GB Speicherkapazität nicht mehr im amerikanischen Apple Store erwerben. Weiterhin wurde das Modell mit 160 GB deutlich im Preis gesenkt und kostete nur noch 229,- Dollar. Listen, son, back in our day we had a tape drive, a copy of Retrospect and a nightly schedule and we liked it. These days HP thinks it can stuff a Dual Core processor, 2GB of RAM and up to four 2TB drives in our faces. The new EX490 and EX495 can handle up to 7TB of internal storage and up to 17TB pairing up internal drives with external hanger-ons. HP Mini 110 by Studio Tord Boontje pairs high design with the same old same old
The Mini 110 isn't quite the cutting edge of the netbook space at this point, but HP's found a pretty enticing way to refresh it: a new designer version by Tord Boontje. At first glance it looks like just another intricate pattern printed on the lid, but it's actually a brand new process called "HP Imprint 3D" which adds layers and depth to the design -- you'll have to see it in person to really get a vibe for it, though you probably know right now if you're the sort of person to be swayed by high-end lid etching in your netbook purchases. On Monday, Adobe released the latest version of its PhotoShop Camera Raw 5.5, Photoshop Lightroom 2.5, and DNG Converter 5.5. The updates deliver additional software support for five new popular camera models, such as the Nikon D300s and D3000, the Olympus E-P1, as well as the Panasonic DMC-FZ35 and DMC-GF1. Now, we were excited as all get-out to wrap our paws around the Tegra-powered PMP, but some of that luster has worn off since popping this baby out of its extremely attractive packaging. Why is that, you ask? Well, Microsoft decided to hold on loading up any usable software until the new Zunes were out to market. See those two antennas? They can only mean one thing: lickity-quick 802.11n WiFi on Microsoft's unannounced Xbox 360 adapter. Of course, the FCC label reads, "Xbox 360 wireless N networking adapter," leaving little doubt as to its purpose. Taiwan Economic News: 9.6-inch, PA Semi Apple Tablet due in February, cost $800-$1000
We went a few weeks without a tablet rumor - which was scary - but the Taiwan Economic News chimes in today with a bunch of parts information on Apple's forthcoming Tablet. HP MS200 all-in-one barely putters past nettop status, saves face with Windows 7
An AMD Athlon X2 3250e Dual-Core Processor clocked at 1.5GHz isn't going to be churning through the next Pixar masterpiece anytime soon, but it might just make for a passable (and certainly cheap) all-in-one PC in HP's new MS200. HP has paired the chip with 2GB of RAM, a 320GB HDD, DVD burner and ATI integrated graphics (which wasn't running Aero when we spotted this thing) and a fairly low resolution 18.5-inch LCD. Worst Apple Product Ever? DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
Apple makes great products. That's probably part of why I am writing this and you are reading it. Apple's MacBook Pros are the best in the business, their support is second to none. The Mac Pro workstations are incredible. Their displays (while overpriced) are the best there is. Etc etc.
But Apple has failed so incredibly miserably on one very important piece of Pro equipment. For anyone who needs to use a 30-inch monitor with any new Mac, you'll need to purchase a certain notoriously horrific Apple part - the DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter.

HP intros business-oriented desktop displays
HP as part of its sweeping Tuesday updates announced it will soon begin shipping seven new business oriented LCD monitors, including the 17-inch HP Compaq LA1751g, 18.5-inch HP LE1851w, 19-inch LA1905wg and LA1951g, 20-inch HP LE2001w, 22-inch LA2205wg and 24-inch LA2405wg. The five new HP Compaq LA monitors share most if not all specs, with the same 1,000:1 static contrast ratio (3,000:1 dynamic), 250cd/m2 brightness (300cd/m2 in the LA2405wg) and 5ms pixel response times. HP on Tuesday announced the release of its new family of desktop PCs aimed at businesses, in the form of the Compaq 6000 Pro and HP Compaq 6005 Pro. New HP Home Servers get fuller Mac support
In amidst its launches today, HP updated its MediaSmart Server line with an unusually strong emphasis on Mac support. Even as they're based on Windows Home Server, the EX490 and EX495 both can be administrated over the network using the current version of Microsoft's Remote Desktop Client for Mac. They can also be used directly to recover a Mac from a Time Machine backup created on the server and have a new media aggregator that automatically pools content from Macs and Windows PCs based on the media type, the individual computer or a given folder.

HP releases netbooks with NVIDIA Ion, 3D design
Filling out some of HP's multiple portable launches today are two important updates to its Mini netbooks. At the head of the updates, the Mini 311 is HP's first crossover and centers on NVIDIA's Ion chipset. The graphics and system core gives the netbook 1080p video decoding (outside of Flash) and much faster 3D than Intel's solution but also helps smoothly drive the significantly larger 11.6-inch, 1366x768 display.

HP's launches today have included the company's first Pavilion All-in-One PC, the MS200. The system borrows the same core design principle as the iMac and balances the entire computer on an angled stand; compared to Apple's full speed computer, though, the MS200 is consciously treated as a step above nettops and is meant as a dorm room or kitchen PC. ElimiNation war game features turn-based gameplay
Phelios and Tycoon Games have released a new war game, ElimiNation. During the strategy game, players take control of an army commander whose goal is to eliminate enemy forces and become the ruler of the empire. Study: iPhone users least likely to click through mobile ads
Chitika, an online advertising network, has released a study indicating that iPhone users are least likely of all mobile users to click through mobile adds. The study of mobile Internet usage vs. non-mobile usage covered 92 million samples, with roughly 1.3 million click-throughs from mobile users. It showed that non-mobile users clicked through at a .83-percent rate, while mobile users were generally 50 percent less likely to click on an ad as opposed to non-mobile Internet users.

Snow Leopard brings native NTFS write support... sort of
For quite some time, Mac OS X has been able to read NTFS drive, but not write to them. To do that you have to use a commercial (Paragon NTFS) or free (ntfs-3g, which I have been using for quite some time) 3rd party solution.
Nyxem, one of our readers, reports on his blog (in French) about a procedure he found out about on the MacRumors forums, that allows you to natively activate NTFS write support on Snow Leopard.
To do that you need to know the NTFS's drive's UUID or volume name, then add it to an OS X file called "fstab". The procedure requires some Terminal wizardry and has to be repeated for every single NTFS drive you want to write to, followed by a reboot every time you cha

iTunes 9 causing problems with AirTunes connections
Following the recent iTunes 9 update, many users have begun reporting problems establishing AirTunes connections. It looks like the gang over at Just Add Power have cooked up a device that will let you manage multiple HDMI sources without the limits of traditional HDMI switches (and no, it isn't an HDMI Balun). WebGL brings 3D graphics to browsers without using plug-ins
Developers working with Khronos Group are currently testing a new standard, WebGL, that aims to bring hardware-accelerated 3D graphics to a wide range of browsers without requiring a dedicated plug-in. Ad shows Nintendo WIi dropping to $200
Nintendo will finally react to Microsoft and Sony price cuts with one of its own, a Toys R Us flyer leaked on Monday appears to show. The ad obtained by Kotaku shows the Wii dropping from $250 to $200 for the regular bundle, which packs in Wii Sports. The cut would allegedly take effect for the last week of September, when the ad for the new price is supposed to run.
