Mitsubishi's 3D-ready and Unisen HDTV lines in the flesh
Toshiba already showed us what its freshest line of HDTVs looks like, and now its Mitsubishi's turn. The outfit was on hand in NYC to showcase a few of its now-shipping sets, including the 3D-ready Home Theater line and its speaker-infused Unisen crew. iPhone: Tipps für schnellere Datensicherung
Apple weist in einem neuen Supportdokument darauf hin, dass sich die Zeiten für die Datensicherung bei der iPhone-Synchronisierung mit iTunes verringern lassen, indem man die damit geschossenen Fotos vorher löscht (natürlich nur, wenn diese zuvor per iPhoto oder dergleichen auf den Computer übertragen wurden).
Ob dies die teilweise entsetzlich langen Datensicherungszeiten tatsächlich verkürzt, konnten wir noch nicht prüfen. Es steht jedenfalls zu befürchten, dass die mit dem neuen iPhone kommende Möglichkeit Videos aufzunehmen nicht unbedingt zur Beschleunigung des Synchronisierungsvorgangs beiträgt.

Is this T-Mobile's Samsung Bigfoot with Android, AMOLED, and QWERTY?
So this really doesn't look anything like that Bigfoot we saw a little while ago, but we can sorta see the familial resemblance if we squint really (really, really) hard. According to Boy Genius Report, what we're looking at here is allegedly Samsung's Android-powered Bigfoot for T-Mobile, said to be attacking the high end of the carrier's smartphone line thanks to a 3-inch capacitive AMOLED display, full QWERTY, 3 megapixel camera, and naturally, HSDPA. Qwest readying 40Mbps DSL service?
Internet provider Qwest is planning to fight off faster cable and fiber optic access with an ultra high-speed option of its own, an insider says. News: U.K. DJs use iTunes, credit card scam to boost sales
A group of U.K.-based DJs has been arrested for using iTunes and stolen or fraudulent credit cards to boost their chart rankings and steal royalty fees. Six-core Intel Nehalem processors in the works?
It's a bit of a whisper on the wind, but bit-tech says Intel's got six-core Nehalem processors in the works for later this year. The chips are said to be compatible with existing Nehalem mobos, so you crazy builders out there will be able to just drop it in and go. iLime cloud hosting service targets iPhone 3.0 devs

Apple patent filing shows off activity monitor for skiers, bikers
Fans of more extreme sports will probably be stoked to hear that Apple just might be developing a device with them in mind. Apple Insider's discovered a recent patent filing that could possibly signal the development of a monitoring device (much like Nike+) which can detect, track, and display a visual and quantitative measure, for instance, of a skier's speed and air time. The device looks like it would contain one or more loft sensors (in one photo it is shown installed in a snowboard) and a microprocessor subsystem to determine loft time. Korean court rejects $32m in claims against MS
Compensation claims filed by South Korean software companies Digito.com and Sanview Technology against Microsoft have been rejected by the Seoul District Court on Thursday, the AP reports. This little devil here's been bouncing around in some form or another for nearly a year, and now it looks like dmedia's M0 might actually see the light of day sometime soon. LG Tritan touchscreen slider reaches Alltel
Alltel this morning picked up the LG Tritan. Also known as the AX840, the handset has a T-Mobile G1-like design with a 3-inch touchscreen display that slides out to reveal the QWERTY keyboard for messaging. New Mac Trojan masquerades as video codec
A new piece of Mac-targeted malware has entered the wild, say security researchers with ParetoLogic. Nicht nur die klassischen Ego-Shooter möchte id Software auf das iPhone portieren, auch neue Spiele sollen entstehen. Sicherheit darüber wird wohl erst herrschen können, wenn iFixit das Mobiltelefon nach seinem Erscheinen am 19. Juni zerlegt hat (genau wie kürzlich das neue MacBook Pro 13"). Cessna to offer Aircell high-speed internet on Citation private jets
While Aircell's high-speed in-flight internet service and other similar options are quickly becoming commonplace on commercial airlines, folks on private jets have so far had nothing to do but sit in their plush leather seats and drown their sorrows in a selection from the on-board wine cabinet. Hardware Changes Between Old and New MacBook Pro Models
We just started studying the documents and manuals of the new Macbook Pro dedicated to Apple repair centers. Hereafter are the first interesting points we identified:
the new built-in battery is only slightly bigger than with previous MBP models.
The entry-level MBP 15" model only powered by the GeForCE 9400 M chipset only features a single cooling fan. This is to our knowledge the first time that Apple use such design in a MBP 15", a notebook with such display without featuring a discrete GPU.
It remains as easy as before to change the HD, however you will have to remove some screws to open up part of the enclosure. Interestingly, Apple will consider this procedure opening the enclosure as normal and not breaking the warranty, for changing HD and RAM modules.
The motherboard of the entry-level MBP 15" (GF 9400 M only) seems to be identical/the same motherboard than the MBP 13" model. It would give Apple serious saving on design for such models.

A. The iPhone 3 OS GM activates on any iPhone as long as it is a legit iPhone. (Not SIM unlocked and working on Tmobile in the US or Vodafone in the UK for example). If you are using your iPhone on AT&T in the US, it unlocks without issue. When you go to iPhone 3 you lose your abiity to Jailbreak (for the moment). More information on this here.

iPhone OS 3.0 Will Improve TV on iPhone
When TV on iPhone was released by some carriers, we were explaining that the OS was not really ready for such usage while the hardware was able to do it. It appears that iPhone OS 3.0 will improve the user experience as well as make easier to implement for carriers.The company Envivio, already dealing with the TV on iPhone offer for some carriers (at least Orange and SFR), already started communicate about the forthcoming improvement. They announced the release of iLiveTV, an integrated solution developed in partnership with Apple, ensuring TV programs offer from encoding to distribution. The main improvement will come come from the new ability offered by the OS to make the H.264 encoding quality floating depending on the bandwidth available. So current and future iPhone owners should get ready to see TV on iPhone offers to flourish in the coming weeks.

First Open CL Drivers from ATI
ATI announced to have started distributing to a limited number of developers the first pre-release versions of its Open CL drivers. The final version as well as the SDK should arrive later in the year.Of course, Snow Leopard planned to be released in September will required such open CL drivers for both NVidia and ATI/AMD graphic cards. Nevertheless the GPU to be compatible with Open CL is rather small and restricted, and should maybe be considered by customers when planning the purchase of one of the new MacBook/MacBook Pro models.
It will be very interesting to check if Open CL will be able to compete on PC and Windows with the proprietary solution made by Microsoft, the successor of DirectX10b.

You'd think -- starting from the moment you saw the glossy sheen of the iPhone 3G S to the waning seconds of this year's WWDC keynote when you realized that there would be no magical second model announced -- that the near-constant drone of matte iPhone rumors leading up to this week's festivities were all fake. Video: MakerBot's build-it-yourself 3D printer in action, replicator in the works
We just bumped into the MakerBot industries folks and got a quick look at the CupCake CNC rapid prototyping machine (3D printer, for us luddites). The thing extrudes Lego-type plastic into fairly detailed shapes, and MakerBot sells it as a kit for $750, or fully assembled for $2,500. Boot your new MacBook from an SD card? Back up to it too?
It probably isn't a big surprise to many, but you can officially boot the new MacBook Pros from an SD card according to this KnowledgeBase Article (via Ars). Those slackers at iFixit really know how get into a MacBook quick. Here's their takeapart of the new 15-inch MacBook Pro. Note that it is fairly simple to replace the hard drive and RAM. Unscrew the bottom lid and you are presented with all of the good stuff right away. The RAM slides out, while the hard drive is four more screws away.
