Windows Mobile 6.5.1 (or whatever it's called) looking ready for primetime
Even before 6.5 got official, the Windows Mobile community has been toying around with post-RTM leaked builds that really amp up the finger-friendliness -- thing is, no one seems to know what it is, what it's called, when it's coming, who will get it, or how it meshes with the upcoming release of WinMo 7 next year. For now, it's being informally called 6.5.1 -- sounds like a fair name to us -- and new mockups floating around suggest that Microsoft really wants to bridge the gap and make major user experience modifications to 6.5; the pre-7 platform hasn't yet reached the end of the road, apparently. iFixit tears apart newly released Macs
Many people would love to take apart their computers to see the internal components if only it wouldn't jeopardize the system's warranty and potentially break it. This is not only interesting, it's also quite useful for instances where you need to re-seat a loose system component or replace it. Slacker stops making hardware players
Slacker will stop building its only hardware digital streaming music player, the G2 in the second half of 2010, according to a Wednesday WSJ report. The 2GB device was launched in 2007 and grew to include 4GB and 8GB capacities. Slacker is still selling a 4GB version for $129, while Best Buy has some 8GB models in stock, priced at $249.

Honda's U3-X taken for an awkward squat (video)
The granola girls over at Autoblog Green had the rare opportunity to test out the quirky little U3-X on a visit to the Honda R&D center in Japan. You remember: the self-balancing unicycle that fits in a car door and relies on an inclinometer (not gyroscope) to know which way is up. In essence it balances the rider like a broomstick held on-end in the palm of the end. Autoblog calls it "far more intriguing than a Segway" due largely to the Honda Omni Traction (HOT) drive system that allows the personal transporter to move forward, back, and left and right on a series of small wheels. We just got off stage with Steve Ballmer, where we garnered a blistering 40 minutes of wild conversation with the man, touching on all things Microsoft. Of course, Windows 7 was at the forefront of talking points, be we also got Ballmer chatting up that Courier vid, and the lack of Zune integration on Windows Mobile. For the former he swears he hasn't actually seen it, but that it sounds like it's something someone should make, while for Zune he says Windows Mobile is going to get integration in the next release -- which is a comforting thought, if perhaps a bit late. Comcast's 4G wireless service goes live
Cable provider Comcast is ready to launch its High-Speed 2Go 4G/3G wireless data service. On the Comcast website, the carrier is advertising the 4G services are available at Bellingham, WA, Portland, OR and Atlanta, GA, with more markets coming soon. It also promises 3G coverage for most of the US.

Psystar drops bomb. Sells software to turn PCs into Macs
Psystar isn't just going to sell its Hackintosh technology to OEMs. It is now selling it to the general public for $50. Dubbed Rebel EFI and a 8MB download, the software promises to let PCs equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, i7 or Xeon Nehalem CPUs to run Mac OS X 10.6 “Snow Leopard.” There is no word on whether or not Intel Atom processors, which are part of most netbooks, will be supported.

Adamo XPS to run ULV chip, use replaceable battery
Dell as part of a low-key press gathering today showed its Adamo XPS in greater detail. Although most details are still secret, company representative Alex Gruzen has revealed that the system will use one of Intel's more powerful ultra-low voltage processors and not an Atom chip, as in the Sony VAIO X. Its 0.4-inch thick shell is also designed for the battery to be replaced, unlike either the MacBook Air or Dell's own Adamo 13.

Microsoft retail opening mimic Apple's
Microsoft today opened its promised first Microsoft Store in Scottsdale, Arizona, marking its first significant effort in retail beyond experiments. The store matches leaked presentations showing a bright, spacious design resembling Apple stores and is now known to more directly imitate Apple in its staff and openings. As shown in an official video (available below), staff wear shirts in Windows-themed colors and, in today's launch, were grouped in lines to cheer the first customers entering the store.

Apple pledge full Windows 7 support in Boot Camp
Apple has pledged full support for Windows 7 through Boot Camp in Snow Leopard before the end of the year. Many Macs already can run Windows 7, although users have reported varying levels of compatibility and lack of support for 64-bit mode. The Boot Camp software update will enable Macs to run Microsoft's Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate variants.

Disney prepping access-anywhere media format
Disney is developing an approach to digital media that would eliminate the need for device-specific rights, the company said late yesterday (subscription required). Unofficially known as Keychest, it would copy protect content but give lifetime permission to access that content a given number of devices. It would behave as a more universal form of the rights management of Amazon Video On Demand and let users save space by streaming content, though downloads wouldn't be an option.

Sony dates, prices photo frame with printer for US
Sony announced the price and release date for its DPP-F700 photo frame with built-in printer on Thursday. The device was introduced less than a month ago in Europe and includes a 7-inch screen with 800x480 resolution, 1GB of built-in memory and an integrated photo printer that can produce a 4- by 6-inch print at 300x300dpi resolution in 45 seconds. It's out! October 22nd is at last upon us, bringing with it Microsoft's latest generation of Windows, Windows 7. With preview editions released to the public, reviews galore to be found as early as August, and plenty of manufacturers already shipping product, it's probably not hard to find an opinion on the operating system or to try it out for yourself. Comcast becomes wireless ISP
This is what we like to see. Comcast is entering the 3G/4G wireless network market, likely becoming an MVNO on Sprint's wireless network (anyone else have 4G?). They are offering a combination package for $50/month in select metro areas. What's REALLY interesting here is that Comcast also has its Digital Voice service which works over VoIP. It isn't a stretch to think that they'll soon be offering their voice services as a wireless product, unless Sprint has something to say about that.

Ballmer takes another stupid swipe at the iPhone
Look, we know it is his job to downplay the iPhone, but his rationales keeps getting weaker and weaker. Yesterday in an AP article, Steve Ballmer said:
"Let's face it, the Internet was designed for the PC. The Internet is not designed for the iPhone. That's why they've got 75,000 applications — they're all trying to make the Internet look decent on the iPhone."

Intel holding off on USB 3.0 until 2011?
Intel has postponed its support of USB 3.0 until 2011, a new report claims. The information is said to come from a senior technology manager at a "top tier PC maker," who says that Intel chipset teams are more focused on supporting the current Nehalem platform, as well as transitioning to 5GHz PCIe 2.0. "They need to prioritize their time and resources on a whole host of things and have to consider the compelling needs for USB 3.0 now versus 18 months later," says the manager.

FCC publishes draft net neutrality rules
The FCC on Thursday published a draft version of its proposed network neutrality rules. The six terms in a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking would prevent Internet providers from blocking any legal apps, devices or services. They will also ban other forms of discrimination, except for neutral, "reasonable" management, and will require that providers also reveal any steps they're taking for network management, such as throttling or metered service.

Nokia gab heute per Pressemitteilung bekannt, Apple verklagt zu haben. Angeblich nutzt Apple patentrechtlich geschützte Technologien in den Bereichen GSM und WLAN. Nokia wirft Apple vor, gegen zehn Patente zu verstoßen, die allesamt von Nokia gehalten werden. AT&T activates 3.2 Million iPhones in the quarter, a new record
AT&T released its quarterly earnings report today. Among the announcements was the activation of 3.2 million iPhones in the quarter. That was 3/4ths the total of 4.3 million postpaid 3G integrated wireless devices that AT&T sold. Incredible.
4.3 million postpaid 3G integrated wireless devices added to AT&T's network, the largest quarterly increase in the company's history; integrated device growth included 3.2 million iPhone activations, also the company's largest quarterly total to date (integrated devices are handsets with QWERTY or virtual keyboards in addition to voice functionality)
Apple sold 7.4 million devices in the quarter so around 4.2 million were sold internatioonally.

iMacs having problems booting and waking from sleep
A number of users have found a problem with recent iMac models where the systems seem to hang at the grey boot screen with the Apple logo. Additionally, if these computers are put to sleep they sometimes will not come out of sleep, requiring a hard reset of the computer.

Zum Abschluss des erstmals stattgefundenen Systems-Nachfolgers Discuss & Discover hat die Messe München ein positives Fazit gezogen. Das Konzept sei aufgegangen, teilen die Veranstalter mit, denn laut einer unabhängigen Besucherbefragung waren rund ein Drittel der Messegäste der ersten Führungsebene in Unternehmen zuzurechnen. Klaus Dittrich, Geschäftsführer der Messe München, räumte allerdings ein, dass er mit rund 6000 Besuchern nicht zufrieden sei. Nun müsse mit Partnern, Anwendern und Marktexperten analysiert werden, an welchen Stellschrauben man nachjustieren müsse. Auf alle Fälle finde die Messe jedoch 2010 wieder statt.

Nokia sues Apple over wireless patent dispute
Nokia on Thursday sued Apple in a Delaware court for allegedly infringing on ten wireless patents. The claim argues that all iPhones violate patents held by Nokia for GSM calling, 3G data and Wi-Fi as well as security. The Finnish company contends that its patents are recognized as key to cellphones and that Apple is enjoying a "free ride" by exploiting technology Nokia has supposedly developed.

3 UK looks at carrying iPhone 3GS in 2010
3 UK is hoping to carry the iPhone 3GS sometime in 2010, according to the carrier's CEO, Kevin Russell. Russell comments that the company has had a deficit of smartphones to date, as a result of focusing on conventional phones in order to build up a subscriber base. That should change in 2010, as the company intends to add a variety of high-end smartphones to its network. Efforts are beginning late this year with devices like the HTC Hero.

We had an all too brief hands-on with Canon's PowerShot G11 way back in August, but the first real flood of reviews has only just recently started, and now seemed like as good a time as any to get you caught up on some of them. Adobe posts free Lightroom 3 beta
Adobe has posted a free beta of Lightroom 3, the next version of the company's photo workflow software. Mainly intended for professionals, the software handles the import, export and organization of various filetypes, as well as some limited image editing tasks like exposure, colors and curves. Version 3 is said to be a major revision of the software, rebuilt with a new import dialog, new architecture for handling of large libraries, and a new RAW processing engine for enhanced sharpening and noise reduction.

Windows 7 launches to small lines
Microsoft today saw a relatively muted reaction to the debut of Windows 7 with limited lineups. No reports have surfaced of significant lineups in Western countries, but in Japan the company saw relatively limited queues at Yodobashi Camera and other major retail locations. The lineups were partly spurred by contests; those who bought early were given shirts as well as entries to win travel tickets, Disneyland passes and gift cards.

Seagate schreibt wieder schwarze Zahlen
Seagate ist nach drei defizitären Quartalen in Folge wieder in die Gewinnzone zurückgekehrt. Nokia sues Apple, says iPhone infringes ten patents
Boom. Nokia's just hit Apple with a patent infringment lawsuit, claiming that "all iPhones models shipped" infringe on ten of Espoo's patents relating to GSM, UMTS, and WiFi. According to Nokia's press release, the patents in question have been licensed by some 40 other companies, "including virtually all the leading mobile device vendors," and Apple's refused to agree to "appropriate" license terms. That's pretty vague, actually -- it could either mean that Apple was willing to license that patents at a price less than what Nokia demanded, or it could mean that Apple refused to pay at all. Ericsson: Gewinn bricht im dritten Quartal um 74 Prozent ein
Ericsson hat für das dritte Quartal 2009 einen Gewinneinbruch um 74 Prozent bekannt gegeben. Apple aims at patenting in-OS advertising
Apple has been exploring the possibility of embedding advertising within Mac OS X, or other platforms, a newly-published patent application reveals. Originally submitted in April of last year, the application credits CEO Steve Jobs and several other people with the invention. Toshiba on Thursday introduced the first portable fuel cell meant to recharge portable electronics devices using methanol. The Dynaro Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) allows users to recharge nearly any portable device, and uses ambient oxygen and the methanol from cartridges to produce electricity from a chemical reaction between the two. They’ve torn apart the MacBook, looked inside Apple’s new Mighty Mouse, now those ever-busy tech elves over at iFixit have ripped apart an iMac so that we, the public, can take a little look inside.
They’ve found a few bits and pieces, such as that the external display won't be able to be powered without the integral one being on as well, and that the LG-manufactured LCD panel weighs in at nearly 11 lbs. “Then again, it is a massive 27" beauty,” they remark.

USB 3.0 held back by lack of Intel chipset support?

Adobe has introduced a free public beta of Lightroom 3, it software for digital photographers.
Adobe’s Julieanne Kost has created three videos which detail 25 new minor refinements in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 that could impact your workflow, these clips are available here.

BBC plan makes iPlayer service international
Looks like the BBC has a plan to go global with its popular iPlayer service, offering viewers worldwide the chance to take a look at its shows, albeit for a fee.
BBC Worldwide plans a paid for international version of iPlayer in a move which would give it more control over the price of its content, and could provide an alternative to iTunes for accessing the same.
The plan still requires approval from the BBC Trust. If approved, international viewers will be able to buy episodes of the BBC’s top-flight shows, such as Doctor Who, Torchwood and Top Gear. The broadcaster would also make available some classic shows from its archives.
Domestic UK iPlayer content won’t be made available because of rights issues, but the service will be able to carry content from other broadcasters, such as

Apple developers are currently testing the latest pre-release beta, Mac OS X 10.6.2, and the good news is the software appears relatively bug-free, suggesting it may ship imminently.
There’s two big reasons Mac users are waiting for the new update to ship: Number one, it is required in order to use a Magic Mouse; Number two: it reportedly patches the dreaded Guest account data-munching bug that has caused such distress.
Apple conceded the existence of that bug earlier last week, after multiple reports complained of its existence.

Ebay verzeichnet trotz steigender Umsätze Gewinnrückgang
Ebay hat im dritten Quartal 2009 (bis 30. September) trotz steigender Umsätze erneut einen Gewinneinbruch hinnehmen müssen. Der GAAP-Nettogewinn des Online-Auktionshauses sank gegenüber dem Vergleichszeitraum des Vorjahres um 29 Prozent auf 349,7 Millionen Dollar oder 0,27 Dollar je Aktie. Mozilla-Management will Umstieg auf Firefox 3.6 beschleunigen
Die Geschäftsführung von Mozilla möchte die Anwenderbasis "möglichst schnell auf Firefox 3.6 migrieren". iFixit has now attacked the Magic Mouse.
Apple did a neat work and disassembling is always tiresome, especially since the mouse is once again glued together. Fortunately, there is no longer a need to dismount it to clean the ball. Note that tactile surface covers close to the totality of the surface of the mouse.

Logitech kehrt in die Gewinnzone zurück
Logitech hat im zweiten Quartal des Geschäftsjahres 2010 erstmals seit dem Schlussquartal 2009 wieder einen Nettogewinn erwirtschaftet. Allerdings fällt dieser mit 21 Millionen Dollar oder 0,11 Dollar je Aktie deutlich geringer aus als im Vergleichszeitraum des Vorjahres, in dem der Schweizer Peripheriegeräte-Hersteller 72 Millionen Dollar oder 0,39 Dollar je Aktie verbucht hatte. ARM erweitert Prozessor-Baureihe Cortex-A um ein Modell
ARM hat seine CPU-Serie Cortex-A um ein neues Modell erweitert. Der Cortex-A5 MPCore kommt in verschiedenen Versionen mit ein bis vier Kernen auf den Markt und ersetzt die älteren Modelle der ARM9- und der ARM11-Reihe. Er ist mit 480 MHz getaktet. Logitech schreibt wieder schwarze Zahlen

Apple hat in der Nacht auf heute ein weiteres Mac-OS-X-10.6.2-Build an Entwickler verteilt. Das neue Build trägt die Nummer 10C531 und ist im Combo-Update (von 10.6.0) 480 MB und im Delta-Update (von 10.6.1) 472.1 MB gross. 10.6.2 adressiert vor allem den Fehler mit dem Gast-Account und den danach unter Umständen gelöschten User-Daten. Apple gibt neue Entwicklerversion von Snow Leopard frei
Eine knappe Woche nach der letzten Entwicklerversion hat Apple jetzt einen neuen Build des nächsten Updates für Snow Leopard an Entwickler ausgegeben. Mac OS X 10.6.2 Build 10C531 führt im Gegensatz zum letzten Build keine "Known Issues" auf. Behoben werden weitere Fehler in ColorSync sowie ein möglicher Absturz des Docks. Siemens verlängert Wartungsvertrag mit SAP
Siemens hat den bestehenden Wartungs- und Supportvertrag für alle im Konzern eingesetzten SAP-Anwendungen um drei Jahre verlängert. Die Vereinbarung umfasst die SAP-Standardwartung für Großunternehmen. Außerdem wurde mit der Einführung des SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SAP SRM) die Zusammenarbeit mit SAP ausgebaut. Die Wirtschaftswoche hatte erst kürzlich berichtet, dass Siemens nach gescheiterten Verhandlungen über die zu zahlende Wartungspauschale seinen SAP-Wartungsvertrag offenbar schon vor einigen Wochen zum Ende des Jahres gekündigt habe.

Microsoft kritisiert Datenschutz in Chrome 3.0

Mehr als 90.000 Programme im App Store
Auf der Quartalskonferenz am Montag wiederholte Apple die Aussage, man biete über den App Store inzwischen 85.000 Programme an. Allerdings ist diese Zahl etwas untertrieben, der Zähler hat inzwischen 90.000 überstiegen und steht bei 91.000 Programmen. “100% mobiler Marktplatz” sucht noch Händler
Shopgate positioniert sein Angebot als "erster Marktplatz, der ausschließlich für iPhone & Co. entwickelt worden ist". Shopgate will der "App Store des Versandhandels" werden. Ebay hat vor kurzem berichtet, bereits 380 Millionen US-Dollar über die eBay-App umgesetzt zu haben, und zeigt damit die Richtung an. Amazon, net-a-porter, Oasis, Coop.ch und einige weitere Anbieter haben ebenfalls eigene Apps veröffentlicht. Bislang gibt es laut Shopgate allerdings kein Projekt, das die Möglichkeiten des mCommerce voll berücksichtigt und auf die mobile Vermarktung fokussiert ist. Shopgate plant nun, einen Marktplatz aufzubauen, der sich in Punkto Benutzerfreundlichkeit an den App Store anlehnen soll, aber physische Güter wie Bücher, Mode oder Elektronik im Sortiment hat. Shopgate wird über einen grossen Partner von Anfang an ein großes Büchersortiment anbieten. Für das Going-Live am 1. Dezember sucht Shopgate noch weitere Händler.

GE VScan portable ultrasound earns the Leonard McCoy seal of approval
Well, would you look at this little beaut from from the Web 2.0 summit. General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt swung by the event last night pocketing the not-quite-flip phone tricorder Vscan, which all kidding aside is one of the smallest functional ultrasound machines we've seen. The goal is for doctors to have better access to specialist tools, reducing the number of referrals and improving diagnoses, etc. -- and we're sure selling an absolute ton of these is probably on the to-do list as well. Moto Kit: Give your iPhone a ride!
Der französische Anbieter Wikimobi stellt nach dem Headset "iBike Rider for iPhone" nun als besonders interessante Bereicherung der Peripherie-Landschaft "Moto Kit for iPhone" vor: Es besteht aus einer nach Herstellerangaben völlig wasserdichten Tasche für die Befestigung des iPhone wahlweise am Lenker oder am Unterarm (interessant z.B. für Auslieferungsservices). Das System ist durch Klettbänder komfortabel und schnell abzunehmen. Die Tasche soll besonders solide und durch Neopren-Materials wirksam gegen Stöße gedämpft sein. Eine optionale Batterie kann die Akkuleistung von iPhone oder iTouch vervierfachen. Eine Bedienung des kapazitiven Touchscreen mit Schutzhandschuhen ist allerdings natürlich ausgeschlossen. Aber beispielsweise die Nutzung einer Navigations-App inklusive Radarfallen-Warnung könnte dennoch eine testenswerte Angelegenheit sein, um so mehr, als die Preise akzeptabel scheinen: 39 Euro für die Tasche und 29 Euro für das Headset.

That's right, the long promised and highly anticipated direct methane fuel-cell (DMFC) with dedicated fuel cartridge for on-the-go refueling will go on sale October 29th in Japan for ¥29,800 (about $328) plus another ¥3,150 (about $34) for a set of five, 50ml fuel cartridges. New Mac Minis, both traditional and dual hard drive, taken apart
MacMini Colo has a Mini take-apart posted. The "traditional" Mac Mini probably looks familiar and the new server model has another hard drive where the DVD drive used to be, but otherwise these things are pretty much unchanged.
One interesting tidbit on this: Since Apple's latest firmware updates, both the new and last generation DisplayPort Mac Minis can use 8GB of RAM (they are advertised as topping out at 4GB). However, the 4GB memory cards that are required are expensive.

Sinecure launches mood analyzer app for iPhone, iPod touch
Sinecure Industries has launched its first iPhone app, How Am I Feeling? ñ The Mood Analyzer. The program allegedly uses a mood algorithm based on the "war-era Mooreefocical Bafflegab prototype", which is designed to pinpoint and display the userís current emotion. The developer claims the app works by analyzing physical contact with the mobile device, preferably with the finger or nose, and then presents an animated punch-card machine until a result is displayed.

New Mac Minis, both traditional and dual hard drive, taken apart
MacMini Colo has the story. The "traditional" Mac Mini probably looks familiar and the new server model has another hard drive where the DVD drive used to be, but otherwise these things are unchanged.
One interesting tidbit on this: Since Apple's latest firmware updates, both the new and last generation Mac Minis can use 8GB of RAM (they are advertised as topping out at 4GB). Good for servers:

Honda's timeless Super Cub motorcycle showcased with a touch of EV
The world's best-selling motorcycle of all time (60 million as of May 2008) is dipping its gears into the EV industry. Honda unveiled this week at the Tokyo Auto Show an electric version of its Super Cub motorcycle. Seeing as the gas-based equivalent can already get over 300 miles per gallon, we wonder just how more efficient this new concept could be. Acer's 3D-equipped Aspire 5738DG laptop gets official, examined
Acer's done plenty of boasting about its very first 3D laptop, the Aspire 5738DG, but it's just now gotten completely official, and let a few lucky folks get their hands on it. As you might expect, PC Magazine found the 3D part of the laptop to be something of a gimmick, although not entirely unimpressive. Comcast to restrict online on-demand to its own subscribers
Comcast is continuing to expand its On Demand Online portal for streaming TV shows, although the service will only be available to the company's own broadband subscribers, according to the Associated Press. The web-based content is said to eventually match the on-demand capabilities available through certain set-top boxes.

AMD Brings Open CL Support for both its GPU and CPU
Probably for reducing the gap with NVIDIA for performance level of its GPU with Open CL environment, AMD decided to release a specific SDK that will allow hardware acceleration for both its GPU and x86 CPU (x86 architecture with SSE3 instruction sets); so it should work on Intel Core CPUs. We currently do not know what will be the performance level of the CPU when compared to the GPU, but it will definitely be interesting to get data and benchmark soon to evaluate how this SDK score vs. NVIDIA's solution.

Several readers have been considering the purchase of new high-end models of iMac, especially interested by the Quad Core CPU, aka Core i5 or i7. It also shows that one should not based its analysis only on the clock speed and one should look beyond figures. IT will be difficult to provide a definitive answer as by definition software solution evolves and what was true yesterday might be wrong at the end of the week. NEvertheless it is a good time to provide some additional information regarding the TurboBoost mode available only on Core i5 and i7. Intel is now calculating performance of its processor based on their thermal envelop and control. In other mode, if thermal specifications are respected, then the CPU could be overclocked to respond to a peak of requests. This is a dynamic system. Some examples:

Exchange 2007 email server continually going offline

Shure unveils its first integrated mic/earphone set
Shure this evening launched its first set of in-ear headphones with an integrated remote control. The SE115m+ passes up Shure's usual music phone adapter for a smaller, in-line microphone and remote made just for Apple devices, including the iPhone 3GS and the third generation for both the iPod shuffle and iPod touch. While it gives up flexibility in the choice of earphones, it reduces the likelihood of the remote detaching or becoming lost.

The week began with Apple's earning call which landed much higher than any analyst had hoped for. Then there was that little product refresh which was met with glowing reviews. Probably realated to Monday's and Tuesday's news is Wednesday's, which is that Apple's stock price has reached an all-time high. MPIO V7 PMP hits October 26th, 2009, we struggle to contain ourselves
It's been a pretty long while since we heard anything from MPIO -- so this is certainly good news. The V7 -- a 3-inch PMP which will apparently boast a (possibly capacitive) touchscreen LCD, an accelerometer, and an FM radio, at a thickness in the neighborhood of 10.5mm. We also know that it'll come in both 4GB and 8GB varieties -- but specs beyond this are sadly absent. We'll see what else we can dig up for you, but look for it to run ₩129,000 for the 4GB model and ₩159,000 ($109 and $134, respectively) for the 8 when it launches on Korea on October 26th. [Via

Verizon hosting Droid event on October 28
Verizon has yet to give a firm date on when we can all get our hands on some Droids, but we know one thing's for certain: it'll be fully revealed for the first time one week from today, October 28. The invitation that's been extended to the media confirms that it'll come from Motorola (of course), it'll be Verizon's "must-have device of the year," and it's got a very close association with giant, scary, glowing eyes. TomTom's iPhone Car Kit arrives in US online store for $120
Apple has added the TomTom Car Kit for iPhone to its US online store. The accessory provides an iPhone dock and an adjustable mount that can be attached to the windshield or dashboard. A built-in GPS receiver helps to improve accuracy compared to using the iPhone alone, while an integrated speaker and volume controls can be used to amplify the turn-by-turn instructions or hands-free calling.

Apple Remote im neuen Look, und das Dock?
Auch Apples Fernbedienung wurde gestern überarbeitet. Passend zu den anderen Produkten hat sie sich ein Kleid aus Aluminium zugelegt und zeigt ein an dem aktuellen iPod Nano angelehntes Design der Bedienelemente.
