T-Mobile's Project Dark includes option for buying phones in monthly installments?
Still no confirmation on any all-you-can-eat data plans, but Boy Genius Report has some convincing screens that seem to reveal some other precepts of T-Mobile's enigmatic (and purportedly company-saving) Project Dark. Two new plans have emerged, Even More and Even More Plus. The former is the traditional two-year contract, along with options to do data only and get a subsidized phone. Even More Plus doesn't require a contract, going month-to-monthly instead, and subsequently the phone is full price. However, what's gonna be interesting to see is the FlexPay option, which allows you to pay for a device in monthly installments instead of upfront, a plan we've seen before

Studie: 30 Firmen vereinen 30 Prozent des Web-Traffics auf sich
Arbor Networks, Merit Network und die Universität Michigan haben erste Ergebnisse einer großangelegten, zweijährigen Studie veröffentlicht. Demnach konzentriert sich der Datenverkehr im World Wide Web zunehmend auf eine kleine Zahl sehr großer Hosting-, Cloud- und Content-Anbieter. Bald höhere DSL-Geschwindigkeit bei der Telekom
Die Telekom will voraussichtlich ab Februar 2010 mehr DSL-Anschlüsse mit variablen Übertragungsraten anbieten, so dass nicht mehr auf festgelegte Bitraten gedrosselt wird. Keine Dedicated Server bei Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Die PC-Version von Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 unterstützt keine Dedicated Server mehr, sondern läuft ausschließlich über ein neues Onlineportal des Entwicklerteams Infinity Ward - und setzt auch noch Steam voraus. EyeTV - the never-ending story - reappears on US, UK, German App stores
The situation surrounding Elgato’s EyeTV app continues to swirl - the application was removed from the App Store yesterday, only to reappear on the US, UK and German versions of the store overnight.

Verizon ad pits Android against iPhone
As promised, Verizon tonight launched a commercial and a matching ad campaign, DroidDoes, that together attack the iPhone. The reveal (video available below) centers on the upcoming Motorola Droid and sets it up as the direct rival to Apple's hardware, offering exactly what its competitor is lacking: as an Android device, the Droid will have customized home screens, multitasking, open development and widgets. It also gets a hardware keyboard and a replaceable battery.

mLearning für Jobnomaden: Unterwegs mit dem Smartphone lernen
Sich in Wartezeiten weiterbilden statt sich zu langweilen - das ist für viele Nutzer eines iPhone oder iPod touch täglich geschätzte Erfahrung. Wie aber beispielsweise Lkw-Fahrer eine Wartezeit strukturiert und sinnvoll für eine berufliche Qualifizierung nutzen könnten, ist eine der zahlreichen Fragestellungen des Forschungsprojekts "Mobile-Learning - prozessorientiertes Informieren und Lernen in wechselnden Arbeitsumgebungen". mLearing können zahlreiche Berufsgruppen wie z.B. Lkw-Fahrer oder Außendienst-Mitarbeiter nutzen, für die aufgrund ihrer Arbeitssituation konventionelle Qualifizierungsmethoden kaum infrage kommen.
Für dieses Vorhaben erhält die FernUniversität in Hagen vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) fast 350.000 Euro. Insgesamt fördert das Ministerium das dreijährige Verbundprojekt, an dem u.a. auch die Daimler AG und die Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung (DGUV) beteiligt sind, mit über einer Million Euro. Call it coincidence or call it fate, but precisely a week after Sony's extra-capacious 250GB PlayStation 3 Slim hits the States for $349.99, Microsoft's 250GB Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 bundle will arrive with a game and a pair of black wireless controllers for $399.99. Both Costco and Amazon have a November 10th ship date listed for the package, though oddly enough, neither site lists the machine as coming with a component cable. Verizon/Droid ad aimed at iPhone appears
As promised, Verizon unveiled an ad in tonight's Yankees-Angels game aimed pretty squarely at the iPhone. It is interesting to remember that the Motorola ROKR had Apple iTunes software on it three years ago and Apple was negotiating to put the iPhone on Verizon (never gonna happen now!) at about the same time.
It also looks like George Lucas is getting some Droid money. You'll notice a “DROID is a trademark of Lucasfilm Ltd. and its related companies. Used under license.” in the materials

Mozilla (Firefox?) app coming to the iPhone in "the next few weeks"
GigaOM interviewed Mozilla CEO Jon Lily at the Play conference, an event at the Haas School of Business at the University of Berkeley. There, Lily hinted that Mozilla would be submitting an app to the App Store.
“Mozilla will release an app to the iPhone app store in the next few weeks,” Lily said. “It’ll surprise people.”
While Mozilla's business is mostly browsers, they do other related stuff and they aren't likely to try to get a Safari competitor by Apple's App Store reviewers. Om thinks it might revolve around their bookmark synching service, Weave.

We knew Verizon Wireless would soon be throwing caution to the wind in an effort to sway uncommitted smartphone buyers towards Big Red, and it looks like Motorola Droid will be VZW's anti-iPhone. MSI retools Wind Box DE200 and DC200, puts 'em up for pre-order
Well, what do you know? Last we saw MSI's Wind Box DE200, it was sittin' pretty at a booth at CeBIT. Evidently it has seen quite the makeover since that debut, with the latest imagery showing it (alongside the DC200) with far edgier enclosures. We have to say we dig the new digs, but we're most excited about the US pricing and pre-order pages. Both units are still (under)powered by a 1.6GHz Atom CPU, and predictably, both feature 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and Windows XP Home running the show.
