In Baden-Württemberg ist einmal mehr eine Gamer-Veranstaltung dem Killerspiel-Schlaghammer der Politik zum Opfer gefallen. Nach der Absage eines ESL-Turniers in Stuttgart und in Karlsruhe ist nun erstmals eine LAN-Party für volljährige Teilnehmer betroffen, deren Veranstalter nun finanziell in die Bredouille geraten könnte.

First iPhone 3GS jailbreak posted w/Video

As predicted, the iPhone 3GS is now jailbroken.   George "Geohot" Hotz is the first to publish a full jailbreak for Apple's new phone, only a few weeks after its release.  Called Purplera1n, the jailbreak is only Windows for now but there will be a Mac version soon.  The Dev team is also working on an update to their ultrasn0w tool that will unlock the SIM as well.  Update: Video posted a below.  We are one Windows machine away from testing this ourselves but look forward to the extra speed in the PSP emulation and Qik Video broadcasts.

3.0 Update breaks 3rd party video cables for iPod Touch and iPhones

For those who have their iPod Touch or iPhones connected to their TVs through a third party video cable, the 3.0 update was a bad one.  It appears to have disabled the ability of non-Apple cables to transmit video.  Forum members at iPod Touch Fans and MacForums are both reporting the issue. That supposedly upcoming Android XPERIA that Mobil dug up might have our minds, but it's this leaked handset (which, to be fair, looks fairly sketchily rendered), the Sony Ericsson Kiki, that has won our hearts. The screen is made of glass, with an image seemingly rear-projected onto it (teleprompter style), while the keys are, um, scarce. Hello, beautiful. Dutch phone site Mobil has uncovered "internal documents" on what appears to be Sony Ericsson's upcoming Android-based handset, an XPERIA number codenamed Rachael. Under the hood is a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, HSPA and an 8 megapixel camera. 3.0 Update breaks 3rd party video cables for iPod Touch and iPhones

For those who have their iPod Touch or iPhones connected to their TVs through a third party video cable, the 3.0 update was a bad one.  It appears to have disabled the ability of non-Apple cables to transmit video.  Forum members at iPod Touch Fans and MacForums are both reporting the issue. Researchers use Bluetooth to track festival goers, make fun of their 'hippie dancing'

A team from the University of Ghent in Belgium is lacing the site of this year's Rock Werchter festival -- Brussel's equivalent of Woodstock '97 -- with Bluetooth scanners (36 total, they cover a range of 30 meters each). Swisscom: Tethering verschoben

Eigentlich war Tethering, also die Funktion das iPhone als Computer-Modem zu benutzen, von der Swisscom für den gestrigen 3. Juli 2009 angekündigt worden, jedoch kam es nun zu einer Verschiebung dieses Termins. Apple habe die Bereitstellung der «anbieterspezifischen Einstellungen» (aka Provider-Update) auf unbestimmt verschoben.
