Acer introduces Aspire M5800 and M3800 desktops, X3810 display
Acer's been a tear with the new gear lately, and while we're not going to say we're as hot for the new Aspire M5800 tower as we are for, say, the Timeline, it's still a pretty nice little machine -- you're looking at a 2.66GHz Core 2 Quad with 8GB of RAM, 1.5GB GeForce GT230 graphics, a 740GB drive and HDMI out for $800. Not bad at all. Little brothers Aspire M3800 and X3810 are far less interesting, with a 2.5GHz Pentium and integrated X4500 graphics for $450 in a tower or $529 in a low-profile case. Not exactly mindblowing, but it's still got HDMI out, so it could make for a reasonably cheap HTPC if you don't need much more than Flash support. Fünf Jahre Nvidia SLI
Heute auf den Tag genau fünf Jahre ist es her, das Nvidia das einst von 3dfx entwickelte SLI-Interface bei den hauseigenen Grafikkarten wiederbelebt hat. Als erste Karte erhielt am 28. Juni des Jahres 2004 die GeForce 6800 Ultra (NV40) die Fähigkeit, mit einer weiteren Karten im Verbund zu rendern.

Tecmo macht Anime-Frau in Annie’s Wild Shot zur Western-Heldin auf dem iPhone
Der japanische Spielehersteller Tecmo dürfte den meisten Lesern bekannt sein wegen seiner erfolgreichen Franchises Ninja Gaiden oder der Prügelspiel-Serie Dead or Alive. Im Juni entschied sich Tecmo auch dazu, Spiele für iPhone und iPod touch anzubieten. Aktuell erschienen ist Annie’s Wild Shot, ein Arcade-Casual-Titel, der vor allem die Reaktion des Spielers testen möchte.

HTC Hero up for pre-order on Amazon UK: £429, July 15 delivery
We doubt the July 15 delivery date is set in stone, but UK residents itching to get a little Hero in their lives are now able to pre-order HTC's latest for £429 ($708). That's pretty much what we'd expect for an unlocked set, but Orange is planning to offer the Hero free on contract, so we'd be inclined to hang on just a teensy bit longer. PSPhone rumors re-ignighted
Reuters (via MacRumors) re-ignights the old PSPhone rumors today with a report that indeed Sony is looking into building an iPhone competitor.
Sony Corp is considering developing a cellphone-game gear hybrid in a bid to better compete with Apple Inc's highly popular iPod and iPhone, the Nikkei business daily said on Saturday. Sony plans to set up a project team as early as July to develop a new product that combines functions of its portable game player and Sony Ericsson's mobile phones, the Nikkei said.

If there is ever a product that has been eclipsed by Apple, the iPod classic would be prime candidate.
With the arrival of the iPhone and of the iPod touch, it quickly passed to product with the status of a high capacity walkman intended for those who do not favour the touch interface.And it is true that this device has no place in the new strategy of Apple. It has l' immense defect not to support the iPhone OS and thus not to be able to make its owner a customer for the AppStore. Sony investigating PSP phone?
As recently as May Sony has itself stated that a PSP phone "could happen," and now a report from Nikkei business daily states that Sony is planning on putting together a team as early as next month to build product that would act as a combination of a PSP and a Sony Ericsson handset. It makes plenty of sense, both as a differentiation from Nintendo and as a confrontation of the looming iPhone threat -- and hey, it might also act as a decent salve over the lukewarm reception of the pricey PSPgo. Tone-deaf robots teach each other to sing, passionately butcher a Happy Birthday rendition
After what must've been a few painful minutes of rehearsal, a few robots built by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Computer Music Research have preformed what we assume to be their first and last paid gig: a rendition of Happy Birthday to celebrate the 100th of the Science Museum in the UK. What's interesting about these bots -- outside of their horrible ear for music and laughable singing voices is the fact that they've actually been programmed to communicate and teach each other to sing through the process of singing to each other.
