Das Foto-Netzwerk Flickr (App Store-Link) hat heute ein Update erhalten, das gleich mehrere neue Funktionen vorstellt. Flickr-Nutzer können sich freuen: Ab sofort bietet die mobile Applikation einen Auto-Uploader für iOS 7, der automatisch aufgenommene Fotos auf Flickr hochlädt und sie privat speichert. 'Temple Run: Oz' Available for Free From Apple Store App [iOS Blog]
Apple began offering free apps, books, and music via its Apple Store app back in August, and today the company has made hit endless running game Temple Run: Oz available at no cost. News: Report: Apple to expand iPhone trade-ins to U.K.
Apple is preparing to launch its iPhone Reuse and Recycle trade-in program in the United Kingdom, according to a report that notes the program will debut “in the coming months.” The report suggests that Apple may also debut the program in other European countries after the UK launch. Just yesterday, word leaked out that Apple will be holding an event on October 22 at which it is expected that the company will debut the latest models of the iPad and iPad mini. The Mac Pro and Mavericks may receive passing notice as well, but the two new tablets will most likely be the focus of the event.

Apple Again Trails U.S. PC Market in Key Back-to-School Quarter as Tablets Continue to Eat Into PC Sales
Research firms Gartner and IDC today released their preliminary calculations of PC shipments for the third quarter of 2013, finding that worldwide shipments fell by roughly 8% over the year-ago quarter, extending the current sales slide to 18 months. Top worldwide vendors Lenovo, HP, and Dell held up reasonably well, but smaller vendors such Acer and Asus experienced dramatic year-over-year declines in of around 22% according to Gartner and 34% according to IDC."The third quarter is often referred to as the 'back-to-school' quarter for PC sales, and sales this quarter dropped to their lowest volume since 2008," said Mikako Kitagawa, principal analyst at Gartner. Adding even more credence to a growing chorus of reports pointing to Apple striking an iPhone deal with China Mobile, Bloomberg today points us to a new Apple job listing seeking an engineer experienced China Mobile's proprietary TD-LTE network. Fotor HDR is a new iPhone app for those of you who like to take high dynamic range (HDR) photos. The US$1.99 app adds some very sophisticated processing options after you take the multiple images required for an HDR image.

Comcast and Twitter team up to offer streaming TV via new "See It" feature
Comcast has cozied up to Twitter and the result is a new streaming video feature called "See It," which will be embedded in select Tweets. The iKettle brings tea time to your iPhone

Called the iKettle, of course, the Wi-Fi kettle allows users to turn the kettle on remotely from their iPhone. Flickr iPhone app updated with automatic upload
Yahoo! has been on a roll, updating its iOS apps left and right. Earlier it was the Yahoo Mail app. Now it's Flickr. The newest version of Flickr for iPhone, released today, adds a number of new features. The most significant one is Auto Upload (iOS 7 only). This feature allows Flickr users to automatically upload every since picture they take with their iPhone -- in full resolution -- without having to do a thing.

Google cozies up to Apple developers with cloud platform
For Apple developers that want an easy way to add cloud storage or device-to-device push notifications to their apps, Google has announced Mobile Backend Starter for iOS.The package gives developers everything they need to quickly set up a back-end for their apps, without having to write any back-end code, according to Google.Using Google's back-end and client libraries developers can: store data in the cloud; send device-to-device push notifications; use continuous queries to notify devices of data changes; and authenticate users using Google Accounts, the company said in a blog post on Wednesday.The same set of features exists for both Android and iOS, and the back-end manages the platform specifics such as using Google Cloud Messaging for Android and APNS (Apple Push Notification Service) for iOS devices. Devs can now use all iPhone 5s colors in marketing
Apple has updated its developer guidelines to allow developers to use all colors of the iPhone 5s in product marketing. Previously developers were only officially allowed to use the black iPhone likeness for marking, though many developers ignored this rule and used the white iPhone as well, suggesting Apple rarely enforces this rule.
Now however, developers have Apple's official blessing to use whatever color iPhone 5s body they want in their app promo shots: Space Grey, White and Silver, or Gold. Something tells me Gold is going to be particularly popular. Developers can download the latest product image templates here.

BlackBerry announces cloud-based enterprise mobility management for iOS
Embattled mobile hardware makers BlackBerry has announced that it is bringing a new cloud software solution to iOS to enable "trusted and simple" enterprise mobility management on Apple's devices. The new cloud solution (which apparently doesn't have a name yet) aims to tackle the BYOD complexities of the modern office. Last week Qualcomm's chief marketing officer Anand Chandrasekher caused a bit of a stir when he called Apple's new 64-bit A7 processor a "marketing gimmick" in an interview with IDG news service. Specifically, his words were:

Flickr for iOS Updated with Auto Upload Capability and Straightening Tool [iOS Blog]
Yahoo's image and video hosting website Flickr has released an update to its iOS app, which contains a new "Auto Upload" feature that saves images in their original resolution and uploads them directly to the service. Elektronische Fahrassistenten können das Autofahren sicherer und angenehmer gestalten, sind aber häufig teure Sonderausstattung. So kostet etwa eine zuverlässig arbeitende Verkehrszeichenerkennung bei BMW, Volkswagen oder Mercedes-Benz mindestens 320 Euro. Ohne Aufpreis demonstriert dagegen eine App des Automobilzulieferers Bosch die Funktionsweise dieses Assistenten.
Zusammen mit der Kamera eines iPhone (4s oder neuer) erkennt „myDriveAssist“ Verkehrszeichen im laufenden Straßenverkehr und warnt den Fahrer vor Geschwindigkeitsüberschreitungen. Für eine möglichst störungsfreie Identifizierung empfiehlt die App eine Halterung, die sich an der Windschutzscheibe des Autos befestigen lässt.

Unterschiede zum normalen Modell aus Aluminium haben sie fast keine ausmachen können (mal abgesehen von vier Gramm mehr Gewicht), dafür aber herausgefunden, daß das edle Stück trotz transparenter Schutzbeschichtung ganz schnell Kratzer bekommt. You simply enter a song or artist name into iTunes Radio and it starts playing, it then plays songs related to that Song. Microsoft scheidender CEO Steve Ballmer bestätigte an der Gartner-Konferenz «Symposium/ITxpo» die Arbeit an einer Office-Version für das iPad. Mit der Veröffentlichung von Office für das iPad ist Ballmers Aussage zufolge erst zu rechnen, wenn dafür eine touch-freundliche Benutzeroberfläche entwickelt worden ist. Mit der Sache vertraute Personen haben gegenüber AllThingsD bestätigt, dass Apple noch im Oktober einen weiteren Special Event durchführen wird. Dieser soll nicht wie bislang angenommen am 15.
