Kindle Fire HD 4G tablet not currently FCC approved
According to preorder confirmation emails, Amazon's Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch 4G tablet has yet to be approved by the FCC for sale. FCC approval is required for all wireless communication products, to assure safe operation that does not interfere with other devices, or broadcasts nearby on the spectrum. Amazon its accepting pre-orders now and is anticipating shipment on November 20.

Mit an Bord sind ein Amlogic 8726-M6 Cortex A9-Prozessor, eine Mali 400 GPU, 1GB RAM und 8GB interner Speicher. Google Maps: Wie der Internet-Gigant seine Karten bastelt
Wer schon immer wissen wollte was sich abspielt, bevor eine Google Maps-Karte online geht, dem sei ein Artikel in der US-amerikanischen Zeitschrift The Atlantic ans Herz gelegt. Wie The Atlantic schreibt, gibt es eine Analogie zu einem anderen umfangreichen Google-Projekt: Google Übersetzer. Auch wenn es genau umgekehrt wirkt - in beiden steckt überwiegend menschliche Intelligenz und nicht die von Maschinen. Denn mit dem Zusammenstellen von Satellitenbildern ist es nicht getan: Google-Angestellte sammeln und überprüfen vor Ort Daten in einem Prozess, den sie "GT" nennen. Sony formally releases Sound Forge Pro Mac audio editor
Professional audio editing software Sound Forge Pro has officially come to the Mac, following a campaign of teases and a YouTube trailer confirming its arrival. Samsung is claiming Apple's multitouch is better than the same feature in Android, in a desperate bid to avoid a sales injunction on devices that infringe Apple's patent on the technology. Lawyers for the Korean company made the claim in the Court of the Hague today in the hope that a recall and ban on Samsung Android devices in the Netherlands due to patent infringement can be avoided. The company was recently found guilty of wide infringement after suffering a sweeping defeat against Apple in related patent battles in the US.

Nachdem Apple im Frühjahr schon das neue iPad mit einem LTE-Chip ausgestattet hat, dürfte es jetzt auch beim iPhone 5 soweit sein. Einem Zeitungsbericht zufolge wird das neue iPhone anders als das iPad auch mit LTE-Netzen außerhalb Nordamerikas kommunizieren können.
Für Amerikaner und Kanadier war der LTE-Chip in der Mobilfunk-Variante des neuen iPad neben dem Retina Display vielleicht die wichtigste Neuerung. Deadline extensions requested in Apple versus Motorola cases
Motorola and Apple are continuing their legal battles in two different venues, and have agreed on something for the first time. Yesterday, both companies asked the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit for 60 additional days to file their initial pleadings. Decoding Apple's naming rules
Apple's naming style for its products may seem silly at times -- the iPhone 5, for example, if it is even called that, will actually only be the second iPhone granted a numerical moniker, after the iPhone 4. Now there's actually a way to put a real, concrete formula on Apple's naming schemes, and blogger Marko Savic has figured it out. Essentially, Apple names its products around three different ideas: Premium vs Regular differentiation, Form Factor naming, and Generational naming.

American, Delta, Virgin all confirm support for Passbook
American Airlines and United, along with Virgin and now Delta, have all confirmed in various press reports that they are either already supporting or preparing to implement support for Apple's Passbook application, a program that is expected to debut with iOS 6 sometime this month. WSJ: 2012 iPhone to support global 4G LTE
Now we're intrigued. It's a common (if unconfirmed) belief that the next iPhone will support LTE-based 4G, but the Wall Street Journal now understands through the ever-present "people familiar with the matter" that Apple is taking 4G worldwide. Apple dominates J.D. Power smartphone satisfaction survey
For the eighth consecutive survey, Apple's iPhone has led the J.D. Power and Associates rankings for consumer satisfaction. Apple's score of 849 out of a possible 1,000 earned it a five-star rating from the group, categorizing it among the best in consumer satisfaction.
