Creating a shopping list with Reminders and Siri

Cliff Joyce of Pure Blend Software introduced me to my favorite way of putting together shopping lists in Siri. Start in the Reminders application and create a new list. To do this, tap the Lists but-ton at the top-left corner of the application. It looks like three lines on top of each other. Then tap Edit > Create New List and enter the name Groceries. Click Done. Once you have added a new list, you can refer to that list in Siri. After creating the list, you can add items to it with simple requests whenever you think of something new you need to buy. Tell Siri "Add eggs to my Groceries list". Siri asks you to confirm the new item. Just say Yes, and Siri adds it for you. When you're at the ma

DirecTV shows off its new HD UI with a website and trailer, still no release date

That slick, speedy new interface DirecTV recently pushed out to beta testers is officially getting hyped with a new landing page and (unfortunately not embeddable) video trailer. It advertises all the features we'd heard about, including the facelifted HD graphics, "lightning fast" scrolling, visual browsing experience and personalized recommendations. The HD UI is still without a release date however, and while we'd probably put it it ahead of the DirecTiVo on the company's current priority list, let's not forget who we're dealing with here.

AT&T accuses Sprint of withholding docs in antitrust lawsuit

AT&T on Friday asked the judge in the Sprint lawsuit against the T-Mobile deal to force Sprint to hand over documents it was seeking for its defense. The carrier claimed that Sprint hadn't answered a subpoena from September 26 for documents it hoped would help formulate a defense. One of the first pre-release reviews of Walter Isaacson's official biography of Steve Jobs has given it compliments for its treatment of the subject. The book seen by the New York Times aims to be the "biography of record" and is seen as a well-structured, though not lean, look at the span of Jobs' life.
