T-Mobile: Over 1 million iPhones on the U.S. network

T-Mobile's Chief Marketing Officer Cole Brodman has posted a message on the company's official blog about Apple's iPhone of all things. He says that customers have asked the service provider for the iPhone on the T-Mobile service, which of course isn't yet possible through official channels. But that hasn't stopped customers, says Brodman, from doing it anyway: the company is claiming over one million unlocked iPhones already used on the T-Mobile USA network. Nokia Siemens makes multi-carrier HSPA+ hurtle at 336Mbps

It's easy to shrug off technical achievements like this while real-world data speeds still lag so far behind. T-Mobile wants iPhone, appeases customers with Android alternatives

iPhone 5 cases rumored based on sold-off chassis prototype

The glut of iPhone 5 cases with a similar design may have come from yet another backroom deal for a prototype. A rumor passed along to MIC Gadget alleged that a chassis had been "lost," or more likely sold off through a bribe, near Foxconn's factory in the Futian district of Shenzhen. Apple Store refurbs speed up as new iPhone launch looms

It appears that Apple is moving quickly to get many of its retail outlets looking their best before the new iPhone appears in a few weeks. MacRumors is reporting that a number of stores are being renovated at the current time to bring them up to the latest standards of the store design. Piper, UBS discount multiple new iPhones at Oct. 4th event

Apple will probably not introduce a second new iPhone alongside a normal flagship model at next week's press event, two analyst memos say. "We expect Apple to continue with a lead device (iPhone 5) that carriers sell subsidized for $199/$299 along with a previous generation device (iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S) for $99," says Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster. HTC Radar 4G headed to T-Mobile in time for the holidays, chock-full of Mango

Looks like the HTC Radar 4G is the real deal, after all. Chitika Insights grabs online advertising data to monitor and report on Internet trends, one of which is the market share of various computer operating systems. There was a surprise reported for Mac OS X in the latest report -- the market share for Apple's desktop/laptop OS climbed 1.039% from 9.6% to 10.6% in the month of September. That may not sound like much, but consider that a sustained increase over a full year would have Mac OS X gaining another 12% of the OS market. At this point, it's pretty much an open secret that Sprint needs to hitch its ride to LTE to stay in the wireless game. Samsung was handed down another setback in its Australian court battle with Apple. Last month, the South Korean company decided to voluntarily delay the launch of the Galaxy Tab in Australia until Federal Court Justice Annabelle Bennett could make a decision on Apple's request for an injunction. A hearing was held yesterday and Bennett has said she may grant Apple a short injunction to give her time to review the legal arguments presented by both sides in this case. Nokia Siemens gets into the dongle and router racket, hitches a ride on TD-LTE

At PT/Expo Comm Nokia Siemens officially decided to dip its toes in the 4G dongle and router waters, unleashing the USB-lte 7210, the CPEi-lte 7212 and the CPEo-lte 7210 on the public. The three different devices all use TD-LTE to hit speeds of 102Mbps down and 51Mbps up. Apple denied trademark for the term 'multi-touch'

Apple was handed a rare loss with the US Patent & Trademark Office in a refusal to grant the company a trademark on the term "Multi-touch" in a decision reached by the Appeals Board on September 23rd, upholding the initial refusal earlier this year, reports MacRumors. Perhaps ironically, both the initial decision and the appeal based their refusal on the widespread adoption of the term throughout the industry -- an adoption Apple itself fostered with its early success.

Apple has been denied a trademark for the term "multi-touch," reports MacRumors. Apple originally applied for the trademark on January 9, 2007, just one day before the first iPhone was introduced. The United States Patent and Trademark Office denied the initial trademark application, but per USPTO rules, Apple was able to appeal the original ruling. However, the USPTO's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board has now upheld the initial ruling.

Apple has unusually decided to give a full "Apple Store 2.0"-style revamp to an existing store -- one that will soon be directly across the plaza from a new Microsoft store, GeekWire reports.
