HCL MiLeap Y series tablet / UMPC in the wild

Nvidia CUDA for OSX

Universal switches to Blu-ray
Unsurprisingly, Universal announced that instead of exclusively supporting HD-DVD they'll switch to Blu-Ray now.
They're gonna have to start producing Blu-Ray movies very soon, and will definitely have to take back many HD-DVD products (these media have nothing but a symbolic value anymore).
Note that some good deals will be possible in the coming weeks, for those who already had HD-DVD players.

Where are the Airport Express base stations?
Today it is practically impossible to put a hand on an Airport Express base station, whether at retailers, or online at the Apple Store where delivery times of one week are quoted.
This rupture of stock seems to coincide with the update of the Apple TV that brought the Airtunes function.
Apple may have created this shortage so that alternative products get pushed, or perhaps is preparing to update the Airport Express to support of 802.11n.

DVD writers reach 22x
Source : CDR Info Officially, the theoretical maximum limit of a DVD engraver was 16x and this was reached long ago.
The war over the HD formats that has just come to an end did not make the emergence of an HD engraver easy. However the constructors have, with a series of small touches, made the engravers faster and faster.
Samsung announces what is likely to remain the fastest ever DVD engraver. The SH-S223 will be able to burn DVD /-R in 22x.
It will be also able to engrave double layer DVDs at 16x and the DVD-RAM at 12x.
It will only be available with a SATA interface. Thus this engraver can only be installed in a Mac Pro.

Spieletest: Donkey Kong Jet Race - Viele Fässer, wenig Spaß
Eigentlich sollte bereits für Nintendos Gamecube ein Rennspiel rund um Donkey Kong erscheinen - und die Vorfreude darauf war recht groß, erhoffte man sich doch einen ähnlichen Spielspaßknüller wie Diddy Kong Racing auf dem N64. Neue Flatrates für iPhone-Kunden
Nachdem Konkurrent Verizon in den USA diesbezüglich in die Vorreiterposition gegangen war, hat nun auch Mobilfunkanbieter AT & T neue Mobil-Flatrates angekündigt und zwar auch für iPhone-Kunden. Laut Electronista können iPhone-Anwender in Zukunft für 120 US-Dollar monatlich unbegrenzt in den USA telefonieren und Daten über das Internet übertragen. Die Spieleentwickler von Gameloft sitzen offenbar mit einem ersten Spiel für das iPhone (und somit wohl auch für den iPod touch) in den Startlöchern. Die Kollegen von Pocket Gamer haben bei einer Präsentation des Gameloft-Chefs Michel Guillemot Rahmen der Game Developers Conference in San Francisco mehrfach ein iPhone ausgemacht, auf dem gerade ein Spiel (offensichtlich eine Variante des Gameloft-Hits Pop Superstar) läuft. Ericsson verkauft Telefonanlagensparte an Aastra
Der kanadische Telekommunikationskonzern Aastra hat sich mit Ericsson auf die Übernahme des Telefonanlagengeschäfts der Schweden für fast 70 Millionen Euro geeinigt. O2-Datentarif fürs Ausland kostet 60,- Euro

Speculating on yesterday's news from Linken Park (really Apple? Linken Park?) front man Mike Shinoda on an upcoming special event, the New York Times is speculating that Apple will announce an end to DRM on iTunes. Nach Toshiba ist jetzt auch Universal aus dem HD-DVD-Geschäft ausgestiegen und wird seine Filme künftig auf Blu-ray herausbringen. Somit ist der Weg für das Blu-ray-Konsortium endgültig frei, mit Lizenzgebühren viel Geld zu verdienen. Firmware update for Keyboard (MacBook and MacBook Pro)
Apple has just posted an update (available via the Software Update) concerning the keyboard of the MacBook and MacBook Pros (needs Mac OSX 10.5.2 minimum)
This MacBook and MacBook Pro firmware update addresses an issue where the first key press may be ignored if the computer has been sitting idle. It also addresses some other issues.
The update package will install an updater application into the Applications/Utilities folder and will launch it automatically. Please follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the update process.

Jon Lech Johansen, Autor des DeCSS-Hacks zum Knacken der DVD-Verschlüsselung, möchte mit seiner Firma doubleTwist digitale Audiodateien aus der Bindung an spezielle Formate und Wiedergabegeräte befreien. Die Anwendung doubleTwist Desktop synchronisiert Dateien unabhängig von ihrem Format und konvertiert bei Bedarf im Hintergrund die Datei. DRM von (legal erworbenen) WindowsMedia- und iTunes-Dateien wird dabei nicht direkt entfernt. Onkyo pulling the plug on future HD DVD development

Doesn't look like there's going to be any glory in death for HD DVD -- we've just received confirmation that GameStop is no longer accepting HD DVD movies as trade-ins, and several GameStops have apparently already stopped taking the Xbox 360 HD DVD drive as well. Worldwide LCD TV shipments surpass CRTs for first time ever

Honda touts new energy efficient "heat-harnessing hybrid"
