iRobot shows off PackBot 510 with FasTac Kit before delivery to the Army

Nintendo says no full DS game downloads coming to Wii, just demos

Well, that didn't take long. Just over a day after The New York Times got all our hopes up with word that complete DS game downloads were headed for the Wii, comes word that the big N's Reggie Fils-Aime actually said no such thing, and that only DS game demos would be available, as expected. iLuv's trying to beat the coming rush of iPod accessories that's set to drop at CES by releasing its product info early, and we can't blame them -- but these blurry prerelease photos of the i1255 DVD player / iPod dock (bottom) and the i399 BluePin II A2DP iPod speaker system aren't helping the cause. The $129 i1255 features what's sure to be resoundingly average DVD playback and menu-based onscreen iPod controls, but it's the Bluetooth-enabled i399 that's at last passably interesting here, with A2DP streaming and receiving capabilities, rhythm-sensitive blue LEDs, and speakerphone capabilities. Win-Update: iTunes Agent V.1.2.1
Ein Sofware-Update für alle Windows-User. iTunes Agent ist nun in Version 1.2.1 verfügbar und macht immer noch das gleiche wie vor sechs Monaten.
Hat man neben seinem iPod noch andere USB-MP3 Player die nicht von Apple kommen, bietet iTunes Agent die Möglichkeit, auch diese Sticks mit iTunes abzugleichen. Neben Microsofts .NET-Framework ist ein zugewiesener Laufwerksbuchstabe die einzige Voraussetzung um mit iTunes Agent zu arbeiten, der Rest ist ziemlich straightforward.

Die Größen der Musikindustrie verzichten langsam aber sicher auf den DRM-Kopierschutz, der es nicht erlaubt, den gekauften Song auf einer großen Anzahl an Geräten abzuspielen. The folks at BiTMICRO are about to blow some doors off of the SSD truck with a new product they'll be showing at CES this year. According to a press release, the company is introducing a new, 2.5-inch solid-state drive with a whoppping 832GB of NAND flash goodness. Internet-Nutzung ist erneut billiger geworden

70.000 iPhones in Frankreich verkauft
Rund 10 Millionen iPhones möchte Apple bis zum Ende des Jahres verkauft haben. [H]ard|OCP says the best way to think of the GeForce 9800 GX2 is a 8800 that's been shrunk down to 65nm and SLI'd onto a "single" card. Defekter iPod wird zur Brieftasche
"Nicht schön aber selten" fällt uns zu dem zur Brieftasche umgebauten iPod von Kyle Arch ein. Falls also jemand einen defekten iPod besitzt und sich bei jedem Einkauf die Finger zerschneiden will: bitteschön.
Wer anderer Meinung ist als wir und in der Kneipe den dicken Max raushängen will, findet bei eBay eigentlich jedes iPod-Modell in defektem Zustand, derzeit sogar einen der eher seltenen U2-iPods.

Sling Media's Slingbox PRO HD, SlingPlayer for BlackBerry announced

Sling Media's starting up this year's CES blitz early (like just about everybody else this year) with the announcement of the Slingbox PRO HD box and SlingPlayer client for BlackBerry cellphones. The PRO HD has the full complement of built-in HD inputs, but will actually pass through and stream out video in HD (1080i, to be specific) in real time, unlike the Solo and PRO (which lack the PRO HD's more advanced hardware-accelerated encoding, and stream closer to VGA res). And, of course, the BlackBerry client does as it says -- you can finally use your strictly-business handheld to watch mobile video on the go. The PRO HD will run you $400 when launched in Q3;

Microsoft hooks up Xbox Live subs with free Arcade title

Looks like Microsoft is going to do the right thing: Xbox Live General Manager Marc Whitten states in a letter to customers that, as recompense for nearly two weeks of ourages, the group is offering up a full, free Xbox Live Arcade title free of charge. Sounds like it won't be until the next couple of weeks before the offer is active, but it will indeed apply to "all" Xbox Live members, and assuming it's for games worth more than 200 Microsoft points, it will be net positive for users who lost about $1.64 worth of Live service due to the outages. (Just to clarify, we've got an email in asking whether they really mean Silver members, too.) Well done Microsoft, I think most will consider the stinging pain eased. Memo posted after the break.

Apple reicht Patent für OLED-Tastatur ein
Russland ist wohl auf der Landkarte schwer zu finden, oder Apple hat tatsächlich noch nichts von der OLED-Tastatur von Art Lebedev mitbekommen, die in der zweiten Februarhälfte endlich ausgeliefert werden soll. Intel steps down from OLPC board
