Apparently Apple isn't "thriving" enough for some people
Yesterday, Google co-founder and CEO Larry Page let investors know that he wouldn't be able to attend every single earnings call as he has made a habit of in the past. Some speculated that it's because of an increasingly difficult medical condition that makes it hard for Page to speak. Regardless, none of this would normally make me raise an eyebrow until I saw this headline on Wired.
The premise of the article is that since Google's stock rose in the wake of Page's announcement, the company is better suited to life without its long-time CEO than Apple was (or "is," I suppose). The author assumes a lot here, using "likely" and "even if" to push his arguments into a fictional world where they're automatically correct.

iPhone 5s and 5c set to hit US Cellular on November 8
US Cellular announced today that they will begin selling both the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c in stores beginning on November 8th.
A regional carrier based out of Chicago, US Cellular is the fifth largest carrier in the US and serves many more subscribers than some of the other regional carriers that already carry the iPhone.
Interestingly enough, US Cellular had a chance to carry the iPhone as far back as 2011 but decided not to due to economic reasons. In short, US Cellular at the time wasn't particularly enamored with Apple's contract terms.

U.S. Cellular to Offer iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c on November 8
U.S. Cellular, will begin offering the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c on November 8, according to an email the company sent out on Friday afternoon. U.S. Cellular, the fifth largest carrier in the United States, first announced that it would begin carrying Apple products back in May, but did not give a timeline on when the products might appear. Apple Increasing iPhone 5s Production by 75%, Cutting iPhone 5c Orders by 35%
Apple is cutting iPhone 5c orders from its suppliers by 35 percent according to analysts at NPD DisplaySearch, echoing prior reports from The Wall Street Journal and Reuters.
