Rumor: Apple already taking new 4-inch display for iOS gear

Talk of four-inch iOS devices gained incidental support through a rumor emerging Saturday. Contradicting talk of LG, Samsung, and Sharp being involved, Macotakara claimed that two of the three companies forming the Japan Display alliance, Hitachi and Sony, were already producing both iPad 3 LCDs and four-inch LCDs for a "new iOS device." The unnamed Asian contact didn't mention what device it was for, or whether this was full-scale production.

NASA's Curiosity rover is on its way to Mars (video)

It's been described by the scientist in charge as "the most complex mission that has ever been undertaken to the surface of another planet," and NASA's Mars Science Laboratory spacecraft is now on its way to Mars. An Atlas V rocket carrying the Curiosity rover launched from Cape Canaveral this morning, and a successful separation of the MSL spacecraft occurred shortly thereafter, kicking off a journey to Mars that's expected to end with a rocket-powered descent to the planet in August of next year. Mazda's i-ELOOP does regenerative braking with capacitors instead of batteries

Mazda has decided there's simply no reason why hybrid cars and EVs should have all of the regenerative braking fun. Its new system, called i-ELOOP, is aimed at traditional internal combustion vehicles. PS Vita: Vita Remote Play erlaubt PS3-Games mit allen Controls

PlayStation 3 Games werden auch auf die PS Vita streambar sein: ein neues PS3 Firmware-Update soll demnächst kommen und das Feature namens Vita Remote Play ermöglichen. Wie fast immer gibt es aber einen kleinen Wermutstropfen: zwar gibt es dann endlich alle Controls (anders als auf der PSP nämlich auch L2 und R2), so dass man zumindest controllertechnisch wie auf der PS3 spielen kann, aber unverständlicherweise werden die Spiele von der PS3-Auflösung erstmal auf die PSP-Auflösung (480 x 272) runterskaliert, nur um sie dann wieder auf die PS Vita-Auflösung (960 x 544) hochzuskalieren. So oder so werden wir uns aber hierzulande eh noch bis zum Februar gedulden müssen, vielleicht besinnt sich Sony ja bis dahin eines Besseren.

AT&T rumored willing to shed 40% of T-Mobile to clear merger

Coming with unusual timing, a claim late Friday had AT&T planning a last-ditch proposal to try and clear the T-Mobile merger. Under the proposal to the Department of Justice mentioned to Bloomberg, AT&T would divest as much as 40 percent of T-Mobile's assets.
