iPod touch with camera briefly gets eBay auction

A briefly available eBay auction (since pulled) has shown confirmed instances of the third-generation iPod touch with a camera. The devices have the same DVT (Design Verification Test) label as the fourth-generation iPhone and have a label marking them as belonging to the "Apple Development Team." They also appear to be running a testbed firmware known as SwitchBoard with apps designed to check the functionality of hardware features, including the camera itself.

Another day, another Apple leak. This time it's an eBay double whammy of the camera-donning iPod touch, which appears to be of the same design from August but now with iPod branding on the back. Furthermore, the two devices bear the prototype identification codes "DVT-1" and "DVT-2" ("DVT" stands for "design verification test" in Apple-speak, according to Daring Fireball), while the DVT-2 model wears an extra bar code label seemingly stamped by the "Apple Development Team." Tonight on Fox31: Georgia TV station buys iPads for news anchors

Filed under: iPadSomeone at Fox affiliate WFXL in Albany, GA must have had the brilliant insight that an iPad looks a lot like a pad of paper. That insight is going to save the TV station about $9,600 per year. WFXL purchased 6 iPads to replace the paper scripts that their news anchors use. According to News Director and anchorman Terry Graham, the station is expected to save hundreds of thousands of sheets of paper every year. The scripts are composed in their usual manner, but instead of printing the files, they're now formatted as PDFs and emailed to the iPads. iPad camera adapter supports USB audio, keyboards

A handful of discoveries in the past day have revealed that the iPad's Camera Connection Kit can be used for USB devices beyond just cameras. One test by TidBITS has discovered that it will work with most any USB headphone, headset or microphone, making it possible to either listen to music or take a VoIP call with normally computer-oriented add-ons. The call quality is "terrific" and could make it considerably easier to use Skype for those who don't want to use Bluetooth headsets.

Reevu lets loose updated MSX1 helmet with built-in rear-view system

Reevu's MSX1 helmet has been around in one form or another for years now, but the company has apparently be busily working on improving it all this time, and it's now finally let an actual production unit loose for an early review. iPod touch-Prototypen bei Ebay

Bei Ebay USA waren vorübergehend zwei iPod touch-Prototypen mit Kamera im Angebot, wie nicht anders zu erwarten, wurde die Autkion allerdings ruckzuck dicht gemacht - vermutlich auf Bestreben Apples hin. Fakt ist, dass Apple bereits letztes Jahr mit einer Kamera im iPod touch herumexperimentiert, zur Überraschung aller aber im September dann ein Modell ohne Kamera präsentiert hat. Anscheinend war es mit der bis dahin verfügbaren Technik nicht möglich, eine Kamera in einem derart flachen Gehäuse, wie wir es beim iPod touch finden, unterzubringen. Was wir schon immer über das iPad Camera Connection Kit wissen wollten

Filed under: iPad Manche hoffen ja, alles mögliche über das iPad Camera Connection Kit an das iPad einbinden zu können, und tatsächlich geht auch mehr als nur der Anschluss von digitalen Kameras. Import von SD-Karten funktioniert damit ziemlich Problemlos, jedenfalls wenn es um Bilder geht. Die sortiert es dann in einzelne Ordner. Praktisch: es gibt sowohl "zuletzt Importiere" als auch "alle Importe). Direkter Import via USB-Verbindung geht selbst bei Camcorder-Bildern ebenso problemlos. Video-Import gestaltet sich allerdings da problematisch, da das iPad nur Formate zu lesen scheint, die es auch versteht. Import von Flip Mino HD z.B. geht, aber die importierten Filme kann man dann nicht abspielen. Vom iPhone importiert es natürlich Bilde

Android-Eee Pad wird im Juni vorgestellt und könnte bereits im Juli auf den Markt kommen

Filed under: Tablet PC Asustek-Chef Jerry Shen hat auf einer Konferenz in Taiwan bekanntgegeben, dass sein Eee Pad offiziell auf der Computex 2010 in der ersten Juniwoche vorgestellt werden wird. Laut einer Quelle der DigiTimes soll es im dritten Quartal, vermutlich sogar schon im Juli, in den Regalen stehen. Laut Shen wird das Eee Pad all das sein, was das iPad nicht ist: es läuft mit Android, hat USB und eine integrierte Webcam und kann Flash. Der Preis wird mit Vertrag zwischen 340 und 370 Euro liegen.

Sirius XM app for Android 'coming soon'

iPhone and iPod touch users may have had a Sirius XM app for close to a year now, but it looks like Android users will soon finally be able to get in on some mobile streaming as well. While there's still no specific launch date, the app is apparently "coming soon," and looks to be mostly identical to its iPhone OS counterpart, complete with support for streaming over both WiFi and 3G. Somewhat curiously, however, Sirius XM seems to be saying that the app will only be available for the Droid and Nexus One, although that's a bit puzzling considering they're not the only Android 2.1-ready phones with fast processors (if those are indeed the only requirements

Neue Windows Phone 7-Videos zeigen Office im Einsatz

Video: Apples iPad Kamera-Kit im Praxistest

In den USA wird Apples iPad Camera Connection Kit bereits ausgeliefert. Mit dem aus zwei Adaptern bestehenden Set lassen sich Fotos und Videos direkt von SD-Speicherkarten, einer angeschlossenen Kamera oder auch einem iPhone in Apples Foto-Applikation auf dem iPad importieren. Von dort können die Bilder bei der nächsten Synchronisierung mit dem Computer an iPhoto oder ein entsprechendes Windows-Programm übertragen werden. Android has already crossed the 50,000 app mark, new stats from AndroLib show. Just a week after Google officially confirmed the 38,000 app mark, a raw estimate now says the mobile app store has added 10,000 more apps within at least a few weeks, if not sooner. Android Market clears the 50,000 app mark, says AndroLib

Google has never been too inclined to give the world the straight dope on total app counts in the Android Market, but other companies -- notably AndroLib -- have been happy to try to pick up the slack.
