SDK-Gerüchte: Apple-Restriktionen für Entwickler
Wenig überraschende Gerüchte gibt es zum Software-Entwicklungssystem für das iPhone und den iPod touch. iLounge hat gemeldet, dass der Vertrieb über iTunes erfolgen werde und Apple dabei als Qualitätsprüfer fungieren würde. Dabei würde der Zugriff auf den Dock-Connector nicht erlaubt, was das Ansteuern externer Hardware (beispielsweise Mikrofon beim iPod touch) unmöglich machen würde.

Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1 delayed until next year? We think (hope) not

A table of release dates dug up on Sony Ericsson's own site suggests something powerfully depressing, which is that the XPERIA X1 has been pushed all the way out to February 10, 2009 (notice that the date is in European format -- we'd just give up now if it were actually October 2, 2009). While the presence of the page on the company's very own domain is pretty damning evidence, we're still holding out hope that it's a typo or an oversight; late Q2 of '08 was mentioned at MWC, and we really don't see how it's possible to push

Asus shows off new lineup of Eee PC add-ons

You can't blame these guys for trying to milk the Eee PC, and Asus is doing just that with its new smorgasboard of Eee PC accessories. Most interesting is the Ai Guru U1 VoIP phone. It plugs in with USB, and in addition to letting you make calls to all your broke-ass friends, you can also use it to browse and listen to music stored on the Eee PC. Next up is the Eee AP, which acts as a 802.11g wireless access point and little else -- think AirPort Express minus the sexy. The USB "3.5G HSDPA Card" is just as straightforward, with GSM900 / 1800 / 1900 and WCDMA2100 / 1900 / 850, and download speeds up to 3.6Mbps. ASUS Lamborghini ZX1 propaganda spotted at CeBIT

So it now looks like that rumored high-end ZX1 Windows Mobile 6 Professional handset from ASUS is a lock for a CeBIT announcement, though we're going to be totally honest, we're not certain it's worthy of the Lamborghini name. Granted, we've got to withhold judgment until we get one in our hands, but outside of a Lamborghini badge-shaped nav pad and a speedometer-inspired clock on the home screen, we're not seeing anything special about the darned thing. ASUS busts out 7-inch R70 UMPC at CeBIT

It's big, thick, lacking any sort of keyboard and not all that pretty. But if you're aching for ASUS' next gen UMPC to cut loose from the product chute then the R70a is it. CeBIT 2008: we're coming at you live from Hannover

Endlich: Fernbedienung auch für iPod touch
Was lange währt, wird endlich gut - heißt das Sprichwort. Viele iPod-touch-Besitzer warten schon seit langem auf eine Fernbedienung, mit der sich das in der Tasche nur schwer zu bedienende Gerät nutzen lässt. So, mal Butter bei die Fische:
Morgen wird uns die Telekom den Complete S Tarif für das iPhone bringen!
Eigentlich sollte dieser Satz unsere News nicht nur eröffnen, sondern gleichzeitig auch abschließen. Doch wohlweislich beantworten wir euren ersten Kommentar dazu schon mal im Voraus.
"Ihr lehnt euch aber ganz schön weit aus dem Fenster!"
Sicher ist unsere Vorhersage ein wenig gewagt, doch sollten sich die T-Mobile-Jungs doch noch an die Umstrukturierung ihres bisherigen Angebotes machen, dürfte der 3. März momentan wohl als wahrscheinlichster Stichtag gelten. Im Rahmen der CeBIT werden hier bereits etliche Tarif-Umstellungen beworben, und mit Hinblick auf die noch immer nicht präsente Ankündigung des 16GB iPhones, schreit die T-Mobile Seite geradezu nach einem Update.

iPhone-Spieledemo zeigt interessante Möglichkeiten
Auch wenn das von Apple für Februar versprochene Entwicklerkit für iPhone/iPod-touch-Anwendungen weiter auf sich warten lässt, haben einige Entwickler schon mit den heutigen Möglichkeiten interessante Resultate erzielt. Linux-Virus auf Mac OS X portiert
Macs sehen gut aus, funktionieren ohne Murren und Knurren und werden nicht krank - jedenfalls, wenn man dem Volksmund glaubt. Doch gerade letzteres wird immer wieder in Frage gestellt: Unlängst mit einem Bericht des Internet Storm Centers, einer Sicherheitsabteilung des SANS-Institutes für Netzwerkverwaltung. Zahl der Musik-Downloads steigt weiter
Musik aus dem Internet ist gefragt wie nie zuvor. 2007 haben sich die Deutschen Songs und Musikalben im Wert von 60 Millionen Euro auf ihre PCs geladen. Das gab der Branchenverband Bitkom auf Grundlage einer aktuellen Erhebung des Marktforschungsinstituts GfK bekannt.

Sigma DP1 priced, dated, and manhandled

Those that just can't wait to find out more about this sucker should check out Pop Photo's very early first impressions. Dell erweitert Portfolio für Spieler

Complicated fix for overworked Rock Band drums

Apple hundreds short of 1,000 movie promise

Ruh ruh, Macworld ran one last test as the month of February expired yesterday and found that contrary to Apple's claim that there would be over 1,000 movies for download by March, iTunes and the Apple TV have hundreds fewer flicks available than anticipated. The 91 (of 100 promised) HD movies and 399 total rental titles make up a fair chunk of the 770 some-odd rental and sale titles, which comparatively isn't all that bad a number when you look at the other download services, but Cupertino clearly has a ways to go before we all trade in our Netflix and Blockbuster memberships.[Thanks, Jimi]

Covad rejuvinates Silicon Valley muni-WiFi project

Intel's Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale gets tested

If you'll recall, we already witnessed a pre-production Wolfdale CPU outpace its competition back in August of last year, but the real deal has finally arrived. Over at Hot Hardware, the folks were able to crack open a retail Core 2 Duo E8500 processor, which comes in at 3.16GHz and features 6MB of L2 cache, a 1,333MHz FSB speed and is built on 45-nanometer technology.
