Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview coming to theaters in November
Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview will arrive in Landmark Theatres nationwide on November 16 and 17. As the title suggests, the movie is an interview, specifically a 70-minute conversation between Steve Jobs and Robert Cringely that was held in 1995.
A small 10-minute segment of the original conversation was included in the Triumph of the Nerds: The Rise of Accidental Empires, a 1996 PBS miniseries about Silicon Valley. The rest of the interview was supposed to be included in a sequel to the PBS series, but the original footage was lost.
Unbeknownst to Cringely, Paul Sen, the director of the original Triumph of the Nerds series, recorded a backup copy of the interview on VHS. When Steve J

Motorola Corvair 6-inch Android 2.3 tablet outed, destined for the home automation set?

Apple senior executives get lucrative stock grant
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Apple's senior executive team received lucrative stock grants worth US$60 million dollars at current market prices. A Securities and Exchange commission document filed by Apple on Friday details this financial reward.
Each executive will receive restricted stock shares that are meant to entice the executives to stay with Apple for the next five years. The grant requires that the executive remain at Apple to claim half of the stocks which will vest in 2013. The second half will vest in 2016.
Executives receiving the 150,000 shares include CFO Peter Oppenheimer, general counsel Bruce Sewell, iOS Software VP Scott Forstall, Worldwide Product Marketing VP Phil Schiller,

Sony Ericsson XPERIA Nozomi LT26i caught by Mr. Not-so-blurrycam
Well, would you look at that: our first glance at Sony Ericsson's upcoming Nozomi and the photos are actually in focus. The LT26i is still rocking Gingerbread, but steps it up in the display department by moving to a 1280 x 720 panel, just like the Rezound and Galaxy Nexus. Most reports peg the Nozomi a having a 4.3-inch screen, but after some quick math it looks like its actually packing a 4.6-incher. Found: Apple sneaks in a very cool Apple TV 2 screensaver
Apple is sometimes known for adding little features and not giving them much notice. A case in point is the recent 4.4 update for the Apple TV 2. Noodling around the other night, I noticed a new screensaver called Photo Wall. I selected it, and the Apple TV put my photos in a variety of frames, some with mattes, that slid slowly across the screen from left to right. It was sort of like walking in an art museum.
This wasn't the only surprise. At a certain point, the Apple TV did a cool little 3D move that looked like I was going around a corner and more photos appeared. It's a nice way to display your favorite photos, and had I not stumbled on it, I would never know it

Motorola gewinnt Patentklage gegen Apple - möglicher Verkaufstop in Deutschland

Samsung Focus Flash review
The Focus Flash is really a rather unassuming device. Sure, it packs Mango and a 1.4GHz Snapdragon, but its 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen (no Plus here) and $49 price point aren't the sort of thing that scream "buy me" to gadget fiends and power users. HP gives webOS developers a chance to get a $150 TouchPad
The future of webOS may still be up in the air, but it looks like HP is at least still making a small effort to woo developers and keep its current ones in the fold. IBM CEO and PC overseer John Opel dies at 86
One of IBM's most influential CEOs, John Opel, died late Thursday at the age of 86, IBM confirmed on Friday. The former executive was CEO of the company from January 1981 to January 1985 and oversaw the launch of the original IBM PC, the 5150, in August 1981. He was credited with having the foresight to support home computers at a time when IBM was still known by most for its mainframes. Opel had IBM invest a minority stake in Intel in 1984 that helped establish its chips as the main choice for PC processors, even through today.

AT&T SVP: LTE 'coming soon' to NYC
How do you like them acronyms? If you had any doubt that AT&T would bring LTE to NYC in the near future, it's time to put that doubt aside -- sort of. Speaking at the Mashable Media Summit Friday, Senior VP of corporate communications Larry Solomon said that New York City would be sheathed in Ma Bell-branded high speed "soon." Activision releases ProtoSlice iOS app to promote Prototype 2
This is interesting -- Activision has apparently teamed up with an iOS developer to release a promotional game for its upcoming title Prototype 2. ProtoSlice is now available as a free download from the App Store, and it's made by the creators of Slice HD, a developer named SmallBall. The new game is very similar to the old one (which itself reminds me of Hand of Greed), in that you need to try and use your real finger to press a fake button, all while dodging virtual blades. Korg hat Nachschub angekündigt für seinen beliebten Minisynthesizer monotron: die beiden Neuen heissen monotron DELAY und monotron DUO. Beide haben den gleichen Formfaktor wie der erste monotron: etwa so groß wie eine Packung Zigaretten, Ribbon Controller als Keyboard und neben dem eingebauten Lautsprecher auch einen Miniklinkenausgang. Der monotron DUO bietet zwei Oszillatoren, die sich crossmodulieren lassen (ähnlich wie beim Korg Mono/Poly), der monotron DELAY ein integriertes Delay mit LFO. Dell Inspiron 14z review
It's called rebranding, and by golly, Dell needs to do it. Once the world's top PC maker, it's ceded market share to the likes of HP and Acer and earned a reputation for bland designs and subpar customer service. So, we can see where the outfit would want to give its laptops a makeover as a way of distancing itself from its tarnished rap.
That's precisely what seems to be going on with the Inspiron 14z, a 14-incher with a slimmed-down aluminum body, available in a surprisingly staid color palette (sorry, guys, bubblegum pink isn't an option this time around). After spending about 10 months without an iPhone, I stayed up late to order the iPhone 4S. Then the next question occurred to me: "What am I going to do for a case?"

Apple cake pops made to raise money to fight pancreatic cancer
A baker in England has made these gorgeous cake pops (featuring some Apple logos and Steve Jobs's likeness) to raise some donation money for a pancreatic cancer charity. The pops will go on sale next Wednesday in London, when cake blogger and maker "Miss Cakehead" is set to open up a "Steve Jobs Inspired Cake Shop." The whole event is part of something called Internet Week Europe, and all proceeds from the Steve sweets will be donated to Pancreatic Cancer UK.
We can't be in the UK by then, unfortunately, but we hope the cakes get all the money they're worth, considering just how great the

Daily iPad App: Photogene
Unlike many, I didn't buy the iPhone 4S for Siri. It's nice to have a voice assistant, but what I really wanted was the camera. I shoot a lot of photos throughout the day using my iPhone and have been looking for a good image editor to complement its camera. Now with PhotoStream, I am no longer limited to using the iPhone for editing. I can automatically transfer my photos and edit them on my iPad, a convenience that led to me to try Photogene for the iPad.
Photogene is a fantastic editing application that's great for tweaking and touching up photos. You name it and Photogene has it, it lets you crop, straighten, resize, sharpen, reduce noise, adjust color, correct red-eye and remove unwanted blemishes or spots.

NASA-sponsored study finds lengthy spaceflight can impair astronauts' vision
NASA has of course long been monitoring the affects of spaceflight on astronauts' health, but a recent study sponsored by the space agency is now shedding some new light on one potentially significant problem: their eyesight. While the study only involved seven astronauts, all reported that they suffered some degree of blurry vision while on the space station for more than six months, and some reported that the effects persisted for months after they returned to Earth. The study also found specific abnormalities in all of the astronauts affected, including changes in tissue, fluids, nerves and other structures in the back of the eye. Lautes Geschrei verbessert keine Statistik
Mir ist relativ schnuppe, ob Android in puncto Marktherrschaft zum nächsten Windows für die mobilen Betriebssysteme aufsteigt. Ich, als Anwender, bin weiterhin dort zu finden, wo die Qualität stimmt. Stückzahl-Dominanz könnte mir nicht gleichgültiger sein.

Ein angeblich verschollenes Interview mit Steve Jobs von 1995 ist - ein Schelm, wer Böses dabei denkt - rechtzeitig wieder aufgetaucht: Die US-amerikanische Kinokette Landmark Theaters kündigt einen Monat nach dem Tod des Apple-Mitgründers an, das "bei weitem beste Interview, das Jobs je gab" am 16. und 17. November in 19 US-Städten vorzuführen. In Palo Alto soll "Steve Jobs: The lost Interview" vom 16. bis 22. November laufen. Ursprünglich wurde das siebzig Minuten lange Interview für den dreiteiligen Dokufilm "Triumph of the Nerds" aufgezeichnet. Gezeigt wurden damals aber nur zehn Minuten, die wegen Jobs Kritik an Microsoft (die haben absolut keinen Geschmack) berühmt wurden.

Landgericht Mannheim: Folgenloser Sieg von Motorola im Patenstreit gegen Apple?

Apple hat im Patentstreit gegen Motorola einen auf den ersten Blick harten Schlag einstecken müssen: Das Landgericht Mannheim verbietet Apple, in Deutschland "mobile Geräte anzubieten und/oder zu liefern", die zwei Motorola-Patente auf drahtlose Kommunikation verletzen. Zudem wird Apple verpflichtet, Motorola Schadenersatz zu zahlen, da die Patente seit 2003 wirksam sind. Das Gerichtsurteil wurde im Blog Foss Patents (Quelle-Link) veröffentlicht. Es handelt sich dabei um ein Versäumnisurteil, also ein Urteil als Folge einer ausgebliebenen Reaktion Apples auf die Motorola-Klage.

Theriault confirmed to have left Apple, may be retiring
Following up on a story from yesterday, AllThingsD has independently confirmed that former Apple vice-president of global security John Theriault is in fact no longer with the company, and says that the official explanation it received is that Theriault is retiring. The timing of the departure, however, suggests that the bungled investigation into the lost iPhone 4S prototype still played a significant role in the decision by Theriault to leave Apple.

Daily iPad App: Photogene
Unlike many, I didn't buy the iPhone 4S for Siri. It's nice to have a voice assistant, but what I really wanted was the camera. I shoot a lot of photos throughout the day using my iPhone and have been looking for a good image editor to complement its camera. Now with PhotoStream, I am no longer limited to using the iPhone for editing. I can automatically transfer my photos and edit them on my iPad, a convenience that led to me to try Photogene for the iPad.
Photogene is a fantastic editing application that's great for tweaking and touching up photos. You name it and Photogene has it, it lets you crop, straighten, resize, sharpen, reduce noise, adjust color, correct red-eye and remove unwanted blemishes or spots.

Motorola may have obtained a quiet victory over Apple in a Mannheim, Germany regional court through a patent-related product ban. Apple on Friday sent filings to the SEC that showed one of the larger bonus payouts to its senior vice presidents in recent memory. iOS head Scott Forstall, Hardware Engineering's Bob Mansfield, CFO Peter Oppenheimer, Worldwide Product Marketing lead Phil Schiller, general legal counsel Bruce Sewell, and operations head Jeff Williams all received share awards of 150,000 shares each. 10 percent of US mobile phones are iPhones; Apple earns half of all industry profits
Two reports have come out which show the immense impact Apple's iPhone has had on the mobile market. The first report from comScore indicates that one in ten mobile customers in the US owns an iPhone of some kind. That's not just smartphone customers; that's all mobile customers. Given that just four years ago pundits laughed off Apple's goal of gaining a modest one percent of the market, that's a pretty incredible milestone.

Eye-C app lets Android stream through Apple's AirPlay
Eyecon Resources has launched Eye-C (free, Android Market), an Android media player app. The app normally supports playing music back to any device that supports DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance). In a rarity, however, it also has the option of sending music to systems that use AirPlay, Apple's in-house media streaming method.
