New app helps the uninsured find free healthcare

Jobs: YouTube an alternative to Blu-ray for HD sharing
Apple CEO Steve Jobs this week told someone who e-mailed him directly that YouTube would be a better option than Blu-ray at present for sharing HD video. When asked about the possibility of Macs carrying Blu-Ray drives, he said only that "YouTube now supports HD video" and by extension would be a good option for high-quality footage. Google in recent months gave YouTube support for full 1080p video as well as true 720p, which in theory would let HD camcorders get video at full resolution, albeit at a lower bitrate than on Blu-ray.

PS3's summer 3D firmware is all fun and games... and no Blu-ray movie support?
If you want you and your loved ones looking like the family pictured alongside this text, sitting in front of the TV gazing at 3D dolphins emanating from you PlayStation 3 through your television console, your best bet is to envision Ecco, not Flipper.* According to TechRadar, Sony has clarified that the summer firmware update to enable 3D applies to games only, and that 3D Blu-ray movie support will come with a second update due out later this year. Researches show 3D cubes with motion, touch input
Developers at the Computer Human Interface conference and elsewhere this week have been showing new approaches to displays that could allow interaction with a perceived 3D environment. The pCube (video below) from the University of British Columbia is unique in depending on LCDs on each side to create a 3D perspective accurate from every angle. Besides letting users view an object from every angle, it has an accelerometer to respond to motion and sensors that respond to an in-air device to interact with the inside of the cube, although it doesn't yet support touch.

Holocube Touch demonstrated on video, no glasses required
The original Holocube was already fairly impressive as it was, but it looks like the folks behind it have now managed to do one better with their new Holocube Touch. Report: iPad grabbed 0.03 percent of all web traffic in its first week on earth
Yesterday, when Apple announced it was pushing back the international launch of the iPad until the end of May, high demand was cited -- over 500,000 units delivered, it said. Pennsylvania spycam case heating up

Harriton High School sophomore Blake Robbins claims pictures were taken of him while he was asleep and only partially dressed, and instant messages that he sent to friends were captured.
The Lower Merion school district is now conceding that the effort it was making to keep track of school owned laptops was misguided, and today the district said it would release the results of its own internal investigation "good and bad."

Galaxy on Fire 2 kommt für iPhone und iPad
Fishlabs arbeitet bereits am Nachfolger seines Weltraumabenteuers Galaxy on Fire. Die Entwicklungsarbeiten befinden sich derzeit noch im Alpha-Stadium. Erscheinen soll der Titel für iPhone, iPod touch, iPad aber auch Nokia Maemo Smartphones.

Apple in Verhandlungen mit AMD
Das Apple mit einigen Punkten von Intels Politik nicht einverstanden ist, sieht man am Festhalten des Core 2 Duo Prozessors in den kleinen MacBook Pros, so schreibt Intel vor, bei Verwendung eines Core-i Prozessors auch einen Intelgrafikchip zu verwenden, der jedoch schlechter ist als die von Apple verwendeten NVIDIA Chipsätze. How would you change Motorola's Devour?
Motorola's Devour has somehow managed to get a little lost in the mix, primarily due to the wealth of Android options on America's two main CDMA carriers right now. The design is certainly appealing, particularly to those still averse to virtual keyboards, but it's the Blur user interface that really sets this apart from the Droid. Of course, we didn't exactly find a whole lot to love about the total package (compared to the other Android options, anyway), but that's not to say there's nothing to discuss. Barnes & Noble gearing up Nook 2, entry Nook for this year
A surprise rumor late Friday has pointed to Barnes & Noble planning a rapid expansion of its Nook readers that could start in the next few weeks. Palm paying execs $250K incentives to stay onboard
A new SEC filing this week showed that Palm is paying executives direct cash incentives to keep them onboard. Several executives, including Global Operations Senior VP Jeff Devine and CFO Doug Jeffries, are being paid $250,000 bonuses and given stock options to stay on for at least two years as part of a "retention program" to keep them working. Universities reject iPad due to Wi-Fi issues, security
George Washington University has joined Princeton in opposition to Apple's iPad on campus, as both schools have experienced compatibility issues with existing Wi-Fi systems, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Cornell University also claims that it has experienced connectivity problems, while also expressing a concern for bandwidth overload.

iPhone may make up 70% of US mobile ad traffic
Millennial Media today published data that suggests the iPhone commands the majority of mobile ad traffic. About 70 percent of requests in March came from Apple's smartphone and jumped 20 percent versus just one month earlier. BlackBerry hits were up 25 percent but were just 14 percent of Millenial's hits.
