Die Gerüchteküche zum Apple Tablet nimmt kein Ende und täglich überschlagen sich neue Hinweise und Spekulationen.
Nachdem wir erst vor kurzem erfahren haben, dass der mögliche Event des Apple Tablet (möglicher Name iSlate) vermutlich statt Dienstag 26.Januar erst am Mittwoch 27.Januar stattfinden wird, will das Wall Street Journal bereits den Preis für das Tablet herausgefunden haben.

Tivit promises to bring Mobile DTV to the iPhone and other WiFi-equipped mobile devices
The Mobile DTV standard is official, sure, but the device selection at this point isn't what we'd call plentiful or even appealing -- so leave it to CES to attract a virtually unknown company with an attractive alternative. WSJ: Tablet Mac wird erst im März ausgeliefert
Heute überschütten wir Euch mit Newsmeldungen zum Apple Tablet, ein weiteres klares Anzeichen dass es nicht mehr lange dauern kann, bis Apple endlich sein langerwartetes Gerät der Weltöffentlichkeit präsentiert.
Auch das renommierte "Wall Street Journal" spricht auf seiner Webseite von einer Vorstellung am 27. oder 28. Januar. Darüber hinaus will man allerdings in Erfahrung gebracht haben, dass das Gerät erst im März an die Kunden verschickt werden kann.

Apple solved the problem with the iPhone name in China
When Apple decided to launch out with an attack on the Chinese market, they encountered a problem. Someone had already deposited the trademark i-phone and considered that the name of the telephone of Apple was very close to its trademark. Since then we have heard nothing and the iPhone was marketed in China. Without making any announcement, the problem seems to be solved. The trademark i-phone has indeed disappeared from site of Chinese intellectual properties. Apple thus seems to have regulated the problem in a friendly way, including the signing of a cheque. Note that they did not act as opportunist. There was a short period in 2004 a telephone which was sold there under the name of the i-phone.

Nokia vs. Apple: Act III
This on-going legal battle is slowly turning crazy between Apple and Nokia. The latest just launched a THIRD lawsuit against Apple for patent infringement related to several technologies (webcam, touchscreen, energy management, user interface etc) and targeting the following products from Apple: iPhones 3GS, 3G, iPod Touch, iPod nano, iPod classic, iMac, Macbook, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, MacBook Air and Mac Pro! In other words, everything but keyboards!
It is quite clear that most of those, so claimed, stolen technologies from Nokia are also used in other computers, but the mobile phone designer is on purpose targeting Apple, most likely expecting to hit the company to slow down the success of the iPhone, the real goal of those actions. It will take years for the justice, and money for both companies to pay lawyers, to find a solution to this dispute.

AirStash gives iPhones, iPods external storage
Wearable on Monday teased a rare new storage add-on for the iPhone and iPod touch. The AirStash behaves much like a USB flash drive with a removable SD card for its storage but has a wireless connection that lets it share its data with one of Apple's devices, even when not plugged into a computer. The approach is pitched as a way of storing documents and especially media away from the limited storage of the iPhone or iPod itself without losing access.

Sony VAIO Z to offer ultra-fast "Quad SSD" in RAID 0 configuration, backlit keyboard?
We've already given you the leaked specs for the unannounced updates to Sony's VAIO Z series of laptops. Now here's what you haven't heard: that SSD on the feature list is rather special, a "Quad SSD" in Sony language. To quote from the materials we've peeped, the Quad SSD is delineated as "SSD RAID0:64GB/128GB x 4." What's unclear is whether that means 4x 128GB or 64GB modules for either 512GB or 256GB of RAID 0 storage, or simply 4x flash modules totaling 128GB or 64GB of RAID 0 capacity. D-Link preps CES lineup with Pebble, Rush, Touch
Electronics maker D-Link has unveiled its CES lineup, which should include several products. Foremost is the previously-announced Boxee Box, which merges Boxee's media browsing interface with network, HDMI and audio connections. Skiff reader to have 11.5in screen, Sprint 3G
Publisher Hearst today provided firmer details of the Skiff Reader, its self-produced e-book device. The new model is one of the largest e-book readers ever at 11.5 inches and provides a 1200x1600 touchscreen display better suited to magazines and newspapers. Its use of e-paper is equally new: rather than glass, it uses an LG-made flexible steel foil that resists shattering.

AirStash expands your iPhone's storage, wirelessly
You may be able to get your iPhones and iPod Touches in 32GB flavors these days, but what's an unlucky early adopter stuck with an 8GB model to do? iPhone SDK 4, Tablet Simulator to be revealled at the January event?
Mac4ever (translated) is reporting that the January event isn't just going to be a Tablet show and tell. They indicate that Apple will unveil a beta SDK for the fourth generation of the iPhone. This SDK will also conveniently have a tablet simulator for developers who want to build or port their apps to the tablet.
They also note that the next version of the iPhone will likely have more pixels to play with like recent Android and Windows Mobile phones have had.

Apple Event erst am 27. Januar? iPhone OS 4.0: Neue Erkenntnisse
Wenn man den Quellen von "All Things Digital" Glauben schenken mag, wird das Apple Media Event, auf dem vermutlich das langerwartete Apple Tablet vorgestellt wird, nicht am 26. Januar stattfinden, sondern ein Tag später, am 27. Januar. Leider waren keine weitere Informationen aus dieser Quelle in Erfahrung zu bringen.
Der franzöische Apple Blog "Mac4Ever" berichtet jedoch, dass Entwicklern bereits eine Vorabversion des iPhone OS 4.0 zur Verfügung gestellt wurde, die unter anderem einen Simulator beinhaltet, mit Hilfe dessen sich Größe und Auflösung von Bildschirminhalten verändern lassen.

Nokia has thrown a third punch at Apple as litigation between the two firms intensifies, the Finnish firm has this time asked the US Federal court to ban iPhone, iPod and MacBook imports into the US on strength of claims Apple is abusing Nokia patents.
This is the third strike by the company as the smartphone war becomes ever more bitter. The complaints essentially reprise those made by Nokia to the FTC last week, when the company alleged that Apple is infringing several “implementation patents” including everything from camera sensors to touchscreens.

US consumers love Apple iPhone, high interest in Android
Apple’s iPhone is top dog when it comes to future smartphone purchases in the US, while interest in Google Android-powered devices has grown rapidly at the expense of WIndows Mobile and Palm.
That’s the skinny inside today’s latest Changewave Research findings, the company’s 90 day survey of consumer smartphone adoption. ChangeWave’s December 9-14 survey of 4,068 consumers shows the Android operating system roiling the smart phone market, with Motorola’s new Droid smart phone the biggest and most immediate beneficiary.

According John Paczkowski over at All Things D, Apple is planning a "major product announcement" for Wednesday, January 27th -- not the 26th as we've heard in previous reports. Additionally, the French site Mac4Ever says developers have been given a beta of the iPhone OS 4 SDK which includes a "simulator" for reformatting / scaling applications to a new, tablet-sized screens. Bluetooth Ericofon hack reminds us of that time we saw an Ericofon on TV once
Yeah, we're a little too young to claim full enjoyment of this modern design icon, outside of a few film cameos and its spot at the MoMA, but Ericsson's Ericofon (pictured), originally released in the 50s, is certainly a design worthy of the Bluetooth treatment. In a well-documented hack done up by Santiago Q., the handset can be set up to use the rotary dial, pump out the original Ericotone ring, and even offer up a dial tone when ready for input. Alereon announces wireless USB NoWire laptop to HDTV extender
Looking to keep your computer-to-TV extender setup as basic as possible? Then you might just want to consider Alereon's new NoWire wireless USB extender, which does away with the need for any software or drivers along with the wires. As you might have suspected, however, that means it simply uses the wireless USB dongle to mirror your laptop display on your TV, which itself must be outfitted with a shark fin receiver that connects via HDMI or VGA (with some help form a 3.5mm audio jack). That obviously limits your options a bit, but the good news is that the extender can also take advantage of some software and drivers for Windows for some more advanced functionality. More concrete facts have emerged on Nokia's complaint to the International Trade Commission about Apple. Finnish publication Taloussanomat reports that the complaint is nearly 50 pages long, and mentions several specific technologies as being stolen. Skiff Reader is largest yet, will be hitting a Sprint Store near you
Amazon's Kindle DX may be big, but it's not the biggest any more. The Skiff Reader is here to take that crown -- despite being a mere quarter inch thick. It packs a 1600 x 1200 11.5-inch screen that, as you can see from the above screenshot, should do much better justice to magazine and newspaper layouts than we've yet seen from an e-ink-based reader. The Skiff Reader will be packing WiFi but, more importantly, it'll offer 3G thanks to Sprint, who will also dedicate some space in its retail stores to sell the thing when it launches sometime this year. Toshiba mini NB305 adds Atom N450 to a successful formula
Toshiba hasn't strayed far from its NB205 series of 10-inch netbooks with the all-new mini NB305, but the few tweaks made are welcome. Obviously the Atom N450 processor is the central attraction, but tweaks like a 250GB hard drive, less protrusive 6-cell battery (which clocks in a purported 11 hours of battery life), and a slightly lighter finished product (2.6 pounds) all add up to a compelling offering. The regular version of the laptop with "true" chiclet keys goes for $400, while a black version with a less impressive keyboard takes the entry spot at $350.
We got a few moments to play with the netbooks, and came away pretty impressed. It might not be quite the bang-for-buck on offer from other manufacturers, and the lack of a higher-end graphics option is a little off-p

iPhone wird dank Aufsatz zur Universalfernbedienung
Auch in Deutschland erfreuen sich Universalfernbedienungen immer größerer Beliebtheit. Horizon's Hydrofill converts water to hydrogen, hydrogen into juice for your gadgets
Could 2010 finally be the year of the fuel cell? Horizon thinks it will be. The company has been teasing us with products for years, and while this latest one is also just a promise at this point, Horizon says it will be for sale by the end of the year. We managed to get some nice hands-on time with the Lenovo IdeaCentre B500 while chilling out in Hong Kong, and we're glad to say that up close this all-in-one desktop wasn't too far off the renderings we saw in October. Fans of Transformers might dig those angular corners and brushed metal effect, but we lack the expertise to tell if it'd be an Autobot or a Decepticon. Freescale preempts Apple with smartbook tablet demo
Freescale today staked its ground by unveiling a reference tablet design ahead of Apple. The touchscreen-only smartbook would have a 7-inch display and use either Android or an optimized Linux build for its interface. Batteriekonzept ehrt das gute Musiktape

Das waren noch Zeiten, als Walkmanbatterien gespart werden mussten, und so die Mixtapes mit dem Finger oder Bleistift gespult wurden. Oft hat man erst am Ende des Kurbelns gemerkt, dass man in die falsche Richtung gedreht hatte, aber auch diese Fails gehörten zum Medienalltag. Spulen ist vorbei, aber die beiden findigen Designer Song Teaho & Hyejin Lee haben eine Batterie entwickelt, die genau per dieser veralteten Kulturtechnik wieder zu Saft kommt. Handys aus dem Handgelenk ohne Stromdose wieder aufladen. Klingt witzig, aber evtl. auch ein bisschen unpraktisch, grün ist es dennoch auf alle Fälle.

Spotify due for US soon, baked into Android 2.1?
Spotify's unlimited music service could reach the US soon but only under special deals that might involve Android, a rumor insists today. After delays from music labels that wanted only a paid model, TechCrunch hears that Spotify has allegedly struck a deal where a "very limited" number of users will have access to the free, ad-sponsored subscription available in Europe. Q1 Mac sales estimated at 3.3 million units
Apple is estimated to have sold 3.3 million Macs during its most recent fiscal quarter, according to Broadpoint.AmTech analyst Brian Marshall. iSlate kommt mit 10.7 Clouded Snow Leopard
Eine sehr interessante Meldung kursiert momentan durchs Internet. Laut eines Dokumentes, das angeblich für 20 Sekunden bei Gizmodo zu sehen war, und detaillierte Informationen zu den Hardwarespezifikationen des kommenden Apple Tablets auflistet, soll das Tablet mit einer "Clouded" Version von Snow Leopard daherkommen.
Höchst spekulativ und wahrscheinlich ein Fake ist es trotzdem sehr interessant sich darüber Gedanken zu machen.
Anbei das fragwürdige Dokument:

Gericht weist Klage wegen Hörschäden durch iPod-Kopfhörer ab
Ein US-Berufungsgericht in San Francisco hat eine Sammelklage gegen Apple wegen angeblicher Hörschäden durch iPod-Kopfhörer zurückgewiesen. Damit bestätigte der zuständige Richter David Thompson eine Entscheidung eines US-Bezirksgerichts aus dem Jahr 2008, wonach von den Kopfhörern kein erhöhtes Risiko für einen lärmbedingten Hörschaden ausgeht.

Kreditkartenhacker Gonzalez bekennt sich in weiteren Anklagepunkten schuldig
Der 28-jährige Hacker Albert Gonzalez, der bereits wegen Computerbetrug und Identitätsdiebstahl bei T.J. Maxx, Office Max und anderen Unternehmen angeklagt wurde, hat sich zu weiteren Vergehen bekannt. Er gestand, die Systeme von Heartland Payment Systems 7-11, der Supermarktkette Hannaford Brothers und zwei anderen Unternehmen manipuliert zu haben. Gonzalez' Taten gelten als der größte Fall von Kreditkartenbetrug in der Geschichte der USA. Mehr als 130 Millionen Kreditkartendaten sollen gestohlen worden sein.

Chrome im Dezember erstmals beliebter als Safari
Bereits Mitte Dezember hatte sich angedeutet, dass Googles Web-Browser Chrome beliebter als Safari ist. Dies spiegelt sich nun auch in der Gesamtstatistik für Dezember wieder. Wie aus der Statistik von Net Applications hervor geht, erreicht Googles Chrome im Dezember einen Marktanteil von 4,63 Prozent, während Apples Safari nur auf 4,46 Prozent kommt. Magic Mouse mit USB-Kabel versehen: Nie mehr Akkus wechseln
Viele enttäuschte Benutzer berichten bereits bei Twitter und anderen Foren von der Qualität der Magic Mouse als Batterie-Fresser. So müssen laut Aussage mancher Benutzer bereits nach zwei Wochen Betrieb zum ersten Mal die Batterien ausgewechselt werden.
Kein Zustand für einen findigen Baster namens Macschrauber, der seiner Magic Mouse nun ein USB-Kabel und damit eine Stromversorgung verschafft hat. Zuerst müssen die geklebten Schalen voneinander gelöst werden, was wohl mit einiger kontrollierter Gewalt einhergehen muss. Das Kabel muss dabei natürlich so platziert werden, dass die Klickfunktion der Maus in keiner Weise beeinträchtigt wird.

CES: Competitors line up to take on the Apple tablet
Apple’s purported January 26 introduction of the Apple tablet’s one thing, but giant tradeshow CES opens this week, with media and industry players currently negotiating there way through ever-stricter border controls as they head to the US for the show, which seems set to be the stage for tablet devices from multiple competitors, as the year of the tablet opens up.

Neue Laptops von Samsung: wasserdicht und mit ohne Kratzer

Auch Samsung stockt das Portfolio an kleinen, portablen Laptops amtlich auf und setzt vor allem auf Akkus mit extremer Ausdauer. Die neuen Modelle N210 und 220 sollen 12 Stunden online sein können, das Modell NB30 folgt mit 11 Stunden und das N150 hält immerhin noch 8,5 Stunden durch. Letzteres will außerdem mit einem "integrierten Scharnier" punkten. Wir vermuten mal, dass das bedeutet, das Display ist extrem gut mit dem Tastatur-Teil des Geräts verbunden. Freescale Semiconductor hat aucf der CES gute Ideen in der Tasche. Im Moment ist das Tablet leider nur genau das, aber wer weiß schon, was die Firma auf der Messe tatsächlich aus dem Hut zaubert. Das Design des Tablets ist extrem dünn, sehr leicht und läuft mit einem 1GHz-Prozessor. Auf dem Reißbrett. Browser-Kriege: Google Chrome jetzt vor Safari

Gerade mal 16 Monate auf dem Markt und schon zieht Chrome, der Browser von Google an Safari von Apple im Nutzungs-Ranking vorbei. Knapp, aber immerhin, 4,63% gehören jetzt Chrome, der Apple-Browser kann nur noch 4,46% verbuchen. Natürlich hat es geholfen, dass mittlerweile stabil laufenden Betas für OS X und lInux verfügbar sind. Der Internet Explorer 8 sitzt immer noch auf der Führungspüosition, verliert aber weiter. Und Firefox wird nach wie vor immer beliebter.

Tim Cook To Leave Apple for General Motors?
According to some sources, Tim Cook, currently Apple COO could be leaving Apple to become the new CEO of General Motors. He joined Apple in 1998 and quickly grew up among high executives. His skills and knowledge were publicly recognized when Steve Jobs gave him the key and driving while of Apple during his medical leave linked to his liver transplantation. While he remains almost unknown for Mac users and/or Apple addicts, his skills seem to have been also identified by GM while the company is looking for a new CEO able to define new strategies and directions for US car maker. The company is in an environment similar to the one experienced by Steve Jobs and Tim Cook in late 90's, and if this could be identify as a new challenge, it is not clear that Tim Cook is willing to leave Apple on a success curve to join a difficult and complex environment, in a different field that needs a true revolution with some uncontrolled factors linked to third-parties (energy companies, stocks of oil, etc.)

After the external disks, the USB 3.0 keys arrive
After the first wave of external hard drives that meet the USB 3.0 standard, the first keys compatible with this standard have been announced by PQI.
The manufacturer have only announced the transfer speed for reading, but they are impressive and reach the 97 MB/s which proves that several chips are used in parallel and explains its size, 87 X 22 X 12 mm. Attention, it will not therefore be cut out to replace a SSD, the electronics and the management of the chips are less well advanced. We do not know the date of availability of this product or the price of these keys which will be offered in 16,32 and 64 GB. We also do not know if Apple hopes to soon add this standard to its machines or if they will await until Intel does this in 2011.

First tests of a future SSD: Vertex 2 Pro from OCZ
Anandtech managed to put its hands on a prototype of the future SSD from OCZ, the Vertex 2 Pro.
This disc uses a Sandforce controller in place of the Indilix Barefoot of the first vertex SSDs, and this change is successful. At this time, this SSD contains the fastest memory, MLC, with the sequential write speed at nearly 260 MB/s and random (in 4KB) at more than 50 MB/s, this last figure being particularly good. Samsung enters mirrorless pro cameras with NX10
Samsung confirmed rumors Sunday night by launching the NX10. The camera is its first mirrorless pro body and, like Micro Four Thirds cameras, holds a DSLR-sized sensor (APS-C) and uses swappable lenses but doesn't carry as much bulk. Moving to the 14.6-megapixel CMOS imager also gives it much better sensitivity and lower noise.

Samsung hops on Atom N450 bandwagon with N210, N220, N150 and NB30 netbooks
Keeping the news flowing fast and furious, Samsung has come with a quartet of new netbooks, distinguishable primarily by their battery life. The N210 and 220 take the lead with a purported 12 hours of "connected mobility," while the NB30 (11 hours) and N150 (8.5 hours) are none too shabby either. The N150 differentiates itself with an "integrated hinge," while the NB30 focuses on durability with a HDD protection sensor and a water-tight seal that protects the netbook from up to 50cc of water. Still, the machines do share a lot, including an Atom N450 at their heart, and a 10.1-inch anti-reflective screen, plus -- you'd be better sit down for this -- mark- and scratch-resistant casing. Does this mean the end of the fingerprint-loving netbook? We can only hope so.

Palm CEO Rubinstein ist "Geek des Jahres"
Ein Titel, über den sich viele Menschen freuen dürften, wird vom amerikanischen "Fast Company"-Magazin vergeben. Die "Geeks of the Year" sind Personen, die sich der Technikszene eines jeweiligen Jahres besonders verdient gemacht haben.
Nun kann sich auch Jon Rubinstein, einer der Mitentwickler des iPods, als CEO des angeschlagenen PDA- und Handyhersteller Palm, über die begehrte Auszeichnung freuen.
Durch die Einführung des Palm Pre und des Palm Pixi konnte Rubinstein Palm wieder auf den rechten Weg bringen und so Schlimmeres verhindern.
