Apple seeds updated iPhone 2.0 beta, not many changes

Looks like Apple's been passing around a new working version of the iPhone 2.0 beta firmware -- not too many changes since the last release we saw, though. So far, from what we can tell the build is now officially 2.0 (before it was registered as 1.2), the Cisco VPN settings got some tweaks, and the root-level mail / ActiveSync settings have been reshuffled a bit. After TIM in Italy, is Russia next for iPhone?
We've known for awhile that TIM Italy was in the iPhone carrier settingsbut for some reason they haven't gotten the the green light to announce the iPhone. Perhaps it all went bad. Or they are waiting for 3G? Or maybe it is only a matter of days. Strangely, the created on dates for TIM are the same (Dec 12th 2007) as Orange in France, O2 in the UK and Tmobile in Germany, with Tmobile Austria and O2 in Ireland created later (February 2008).
Something tells us that TIM and Apple had a falling out.
Onto a possible Russian iPhone possibility
We're not sure how long it has been there, but Russian text input is joining German, English, French and Italian as the default input languages in the System/Library/TextInput Folder of the iPhone. Perhaps we'll see an iPhone in Russia next?

Demnächst könnte Wolfgang Schäuble im Supermarkt nebenan bezahlen oder in den USA einchecken, ohne wirklich dort zu sein: Sein Fingerabdruck kursiert in der Fachzeitschrift „Datenschleuder“, herausgegeben vom Chaos Computer Club und eine Anleitung zum Übertragen des Abdrucks auf den eigenen Finger liegt auch bei.

Bilder von Asus' Eee PC für den Desktop
Mit der Sub-Notebook-Variante des Eee PC konnte Asus einen recht großen Erfolg verzeichnen, der sogar andere Hersteller dazu veranlasste, auf den Zug aufzuspringen und ebenfalls kostengünstige Mini-Notebooks ins Sortiment aufzunehmen. Asus setzt eingeschlagen Weg derweil fort und plant noch für dieses Jahr eine Desktop-Variante.

Apple TV 2.01 update
Apple offers via Apple TV the 2.01 update whose description remains somewhat lacking.. it only announced the correction of minor bugs.

What's the future for the locking of the iPhone ?
Source: Gizmodo Until now, Apple has made great efforts to lock the iPhone and impede access. The main reason was to avoid sim unlocking which strains their relationships with the official telecom operators. We know they have achieved little success in this area. OS X 10.5.3 beta in test
Apple has made available to developers a beta Mac OS X 10.5.3 stamped 9d10.
It fixes 75 bugs affecting several points and applications.

Seit Steve Jobs 1997 das Ruder bei Apple übernommen hat, steigt der Börsenwert des Unternehmens stetig. Längst schon gehört die Firma deshalb zu den 500 größten, börsennotierten US-Unternehmen und ist damit im Aktienindex S&P 500 (Standard & Poos's 500) verzeichnet. Die Zeitschrift BusinessWeek wählt aus diesen 500 Unternehmen jährlich die 50 besten "Star Performer" aus. Und Apple konnte sich den 6. Platz sichern.

"Photoshop Disaster" beim iPod touch
Ein kleiner Surftipp zum Wochenende: Photoshop Disasters sammelt peinliche Bildbearbeitungspannen. Das Blog hat jetzt durch diesen Artikel dafür gesorgt, dass Apples Grafiker noch ein wenig an den online veröffentlichten iPod touch-Abbildungen nachbessern. Das Spiegelbild des Mary J. Blige-Covers zeigt(e) auf allen offiziellen "Fotos" eine CD-Hülle von Macy Gray und hat statt dem Symbol für Pause ein Play-Symbol reflektiert. Teils wurden die Bilder inzwischen aktualisiert, teils nicht.

Those crafty kids on the iPhone Dev Team have already hacked the 2.0 firmware, but now they're getting ready to release the oh-so-creatively-named PWNED tool, which takes iPhone hacking to the next level by patching the bootloader to let you load any firmware image you want -- even images not signed by Apple. That means custom patched firmware can now be loaded directly from iTunes, which simplifies the jailbreaking / unlocking process tremendously, and also means that a patched version of the 2.0 firmware is coming soon.
