Verizon-bound HTC DNA gets up close and personal in leaked press photo
HTC is throwing its hat into the phablet ring and it appears that its sleeping giant is set to awaken on Verizon's network, but not before smiling for the cameras. Apple aims to add Galaxy Note 10.1, Android 4.1 to US suit
Acting via a court in San Jose, California, Apple has filed to add the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Android 4.1 to a list of infringing products in a US lawsuit against Samsung, Bloomberg reports. The case is notably distinct from one Apple won in August, in which a jury awarded the company damages of $1.05 billion. Instead, the suit involved today is only scheduled to go to trial in 2014.

New OS X 10.9 appears in server logs
You should take this with the requisite grain of salt, because it's not all that groundbreaking. AppleInsider notes that several references to Apple computers running OS X 10.9 have appeared on its server logs, suggesting that someone visited the site while using an unreleased version of Apple's operating system. True, this type of data can be faked, and it's not much of a surprise to hear that Apple's working on a new version of OS X anyway. Of course Apple will update OS X at some point.

Tip of the Day: Reordering iOS Calendars
Although iOS 6 still doesn’t allow you to reorder the individual calendars on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch directly, there is a handy workaround if you’re syncing with iCloud. Simply log into your account on the iCloud web site at http://www.icloud.com and select your Calendar from the list of options that appear. Daily iPhone App: Curiosity makes you wonder what is in the cube
Curiosity, a free app that arrived on the App Store last night, is more of an experiment than a game. It's developed by a company called 22 Cans, which is Peter Molyneux's latest endeavor. Molyneux is the famous creator of classic games like Dungeon Keeper, Populous, and Fable. Now he's built 22 Cans to work on smaller, more experimental projects.
Curiosity is definitely that.

GPU maker Imagination buys MIPS, sells off some patents
Imagination Technologies is planning to buy MIPS Technologies in a deal costing $60 million in cash, says Anandtech. MIPS produces one of the few standard CPU architectures outside of Intel and ARM; in buying the company, Imagination will get 82 related patents. Another 580 patents and patent applications have been sold for $350 million to Bridge Crossing, a CPU patent holding group with partners like Intel, ARM, HP, and IBM.

OS X 10.9 already appearing in online tracking
Computers running OS X 10.9 are already showing up in web tracking, notes 9to5Mac. The site says it has picked up at least four IPs running the OS during the last month, and that the addresses trace back to Apple's corporate network and the wider Bay Area in California. iPhone 5 supply runs short in India
The iPhone 5 officially launched in India last Friday, and just a day later, stores were selling out of their stock. Don't get too excited. Indian sources note only about 15,000 phones were made available for that market, so a sellout isn't too surprising. There were about 100,000 phones made available to India in the first month. An additional 200,000 are expected to arrive by the end of December.
Those numbers aren't huge (I'd guess that several North American stores will sell as many in the same time period), but the point here is that demand is high around the world.

Fourth-generation iPad models in stock at online Apple Stores
If you're thinking about buying a WiFi fourth-generation iPad 4, you're in luck. Apple apparently is making enough of the new speedy devices to keep them in stock at the online Apple Store in many countries. At this time, the US, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Singapore stores all show "in stock" availability according to a post on MacRumors.
For other countries where the newest full-sized iPad has launched, availability is showing three to five business days. This is currently the case for the UK, French, German, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese stores.

Bis jetzt gibt es noch nicht einmal einen Namen für Apples nächste OS X-Version und so langsam gehen ja auch die Katzen aus. Nichtsdestotrotz hat AppleInsider in den Logfiles seiner eigenen Seite in den letzten Wochen immer wieder Rechner gesehen, die vorgeben, unter Mac OS X 10.9 zu laufen. Ob es tatsächlich frühe Betas der nächsten Version sind ist unklar, vom Zeitpunkt wäre es aber möglich. Zuletzt hatte Apple mit Lion (Juli 2011) und Mountain Lion (Juli 2012) ziemlich genau einen Einjahresrhythmus bei den Updates eingehalten.

EU ready to accept deal with Apple, book publishers
Regulators with the European Union are prepared to accept a proposal by Apple and four publishers to end an antitrust investigation into ebook pricing, Reuters sources say. Under the terms of the arrangement, Apple and the publishers would let retailers set their own prices and discounts for at least two years. The deal would also suspend "most-favored nation" contracts for at least five years; in this case, for instance, it would block contracts stopping retailers from selling books more cheaply than Apple.

London's Westminster City Council investigating iPad-controlled street lights
London's Westminster City Council is installing iPad-controlled street lights to ease maintenance and save energy. The group hopes to have 14,000 of the units installed within the next four years. Once in place, the bulbs will be able to alert techs to pending failures. Also, workers will be able to more easily control when they come on and off, reducing energy costs.

Canon has announced two new lenses for its DSLR cameras. Of the pair, the flagship is the EF 24ñ70mm f/4L IS USM. Das bei Microsoft Research entwickelte Kinect Fusion hat Microsoft bisher für sich behalten, jetzt soll es ins Kinect for Windows SDK integriert und damit auch allen Entwicklern zur werden. Mit Kinect Fusion wird die Erstellung von 3D-Modellen von Objekten und Umgebungen stark vereinfacht, außerdem lassen sich diverse AR-Anwendungen damit realisieren und auch 3D-Messungen durchführen. Microsoft Surface RT teardown reveals huge profit margin
A new teardown shows that Microsoft is generating huge profit margins out of each Surface RT tablet that it sells. According to IHS iSuppli, the bill of materials (BOM) for the Surface RT tablet 32GB is $248 plus $18 for the TouchCover, which Microsoft is selling for $599. By comparison, an earlier teardown of the third-generation iPad revealed that it costs Apple $316 to make, which it then sells for $499 indicating that Microsoft is making a substantially higher gross profit for each tablet it sells.

Daily iOS App: Arc Squadron is a smooth and slick space shooter
Arc Squadron is a space shooter title just recently released on iOS that's very similar to Nintendo's Starfox: You're put in a ship, guided along a series of directed levels, and asked to take down everything in your path while dodging bullets and picking up powerups. We've seen a few similar apps on iOS before, but this is the best one so far. The graphics are clear and colorful, the controls are simple but allow for a fair amount of precision, and while the story isn't much to get excited about, everything in the game is portrayed clearly and well. Mansfield may lead Apple away from Intel chips in Macs
Bloomberg is reporting that Apple's Technologies group, headed by senior vice president Bob Mansfield, is exploring advanced versions of the chipsets used in the iPhone and iPad lines for use in the company's future desktops and MacBooks. The outlet cites three people familiar with Apple's research initiative as confirming the plans.

Pandora sues ASCAP in a bid to lower royalty rates

It looks like the Kobo Arc (Model K107) has hit the FCC just in time for its November launch. Not much else is gleaned from the filing, but judging from our earlier hands-on, the Arc is not to be ignored. Chaos: The Battle of Wizards is an old tactical game created for the ZX Spectrum computer in 1985. Despite its complexity, it has a loyal following and has influenced a lot of games and developers. Now, the original creator of Chaos, Julian Gollop, has decided to work on recreating the title for iOS as Chaos Reborn, and he's blogging about the process.

Comparing the iPad mini, Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7 displays
Now that the iPad mini has hit the market, choices for consumers have become a bit more complex. Fans shouldn't let that switch worry them however, as Joystiq's review assures it is a "decadent show of strength" for the series that lives up to its predecessors in single player, co-op and multiplayer. A new co-op mode that's updated weekly will also probably help find some allies instead of foul-mouthed adversaries should you choose to head online.
