Google Voice for iOS joins the mass texting party

Well, it's about a month and a half behind its Android counterpart (and what feels like decades behind the web interface), but the iOS Google Voice app finally (finally!) has support for multi-recipient texting. Version 1.4.0.2372 adds few other nice tweaks, including one touch copy and paste on the dialpad and a larger text entry field with a character count but, obviously, the mass texting capabilities here steal the show. So hit up the App Store to update now and start spamming all your friends.

I'm a big fan of the Skitch screenshot/annotation tool on the Mac; while there are countless ways to make and share quick image captures, Skitch combines the features I need most often with an accessible and friendly interface. CES 2012 to feature 94 startup companies in 'Eureka Park TechZone'

CES hasn't exactly been known as the place where small startup companies catch their big break, but the CEA seems intent on changing that notion this time around. The organization announced today that its new 'Eureka Park TechZone" will feature 94 startup companies occupying some 9,000 square feet of floor space at The Venetian -- up considerably from the 28 companies that were signed on when the new area was first announced this summer. Apple drops 180-day deadline for ëComplete My Albumí feature

Following Appleís recent addition of the ëComplete My Season Passí function for TV shows, the company has posted two new FAQs. One addresses the new ability to upgrade to a Season Pass for TV shows at a discount, while the other addresses changes to the ëComplete My Albumí function. The new FAQ has dropped any mention of the 180-day window for upgrading to a full album at a discounted rate after a user has downloaded individual songs from it.

Apple looking at building new iCloud applications

Apple is planning to a create still more iOS applications connected to iCloud, a new job listing reveals. The company is currently hunting for an iCloud application developer, who will be asked to "develop new and existing iPhone and iPad applications for iCloud services," according to the listing. Successful candidates will also have to "work closely with visual designers to define and implement [the] User Interface," and cooperate with "teams across the company."

Apple seeds new OS X 10.7.3 build to developers

Apple released the latest OS X 10.7.3 build to developers earlier today. Build 11D36 urges developers to test iCloud document storage, Address Book, iCal, Mail, Spotlight and Safari, Macrumors said. The delta update is 986 MB, and the combo update is 1.2 GB OS X 10.7.2 was released in October.

Spotify hits some BlackBerry smartphones, Angry Birds finally reaches the PlayBook

It may not exactly be the good news RIM fans have been hoping for, but those committed to the company's products do now at least have two more big-name apps at their disposal. First up is Spotify, which is now out of beta and available for GSM-based BlackBerry smartphones including the Bold 9780, Bold 9700, Curve 9300, Bold 9000, and Curve 8520. The app itself is free but, as with the company's other mobile apps, you'll need a $10/month Spotify Premium subscription to take advantage of mobile streaming. Verizon plans iPhone antennagate-like Galaxy Nexus update

Verizon on Wednesday described its fix for signal issues on its edition of the Galaxy Nexus in terms that recalled Apple's initial response to the "antennagate" issues with the iPhone 4. Spokeswoman Brenda Raney explained to Computerworld that an update was coming that would adjust the signal strength indicator to "more closely match" other Verizon phones, not actually modify the signal behavior. Despite dropped calls and losses of LTE, she claimed there wasn't a problem with the signal itself.

Google's AdMob: tablet ad hits jumped 700% year to year

Google's AdMob unit late Tuesday said it had seen a 700 percent spike in tablet traffic over the past year. Monthly its on its large-scale ad network from iPads, Android tablets, and others that take AdMob marketing jumped from one billion in December 2010 to eight billion by the end of November 2011, TechCrunch was told. Tesla confirms Model S pricing and options: $49,900 and up after tax credits

Tesla Motors has talked a fair bit about pricing for its Model S sedan over the past couple of years, but it's now finally set things in stone. US pricing for the base model will start at $49,900, although that's only after you factor in the $7,500 federal tax credit. As Tesla notes, that's the very same pricing that the company first promised way back when the car was unveiled in 2009 -- no small feat these days. That buys you a 40 kWh battery, along with 19-inch wheels and the 17-inch touchscreen in the dash that's included on all models.

Verizon confirms LTE data services fully restored, 3G never affected

Angry Birds comes to BlackBerry PlayBook two years after iOS

RIM saw its problems in the tablet arena emblematized Wednesday after Rovio released a version of Angry Birds for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Verizon says 4G returning to normal, mum on 3G issues

Last night, many Verizon customers trying to use the carrier's service for sending or transmitting data, either through 3G or 4G connections, were unable to see the network. The 4G service is now back up and running. Verizon has not acknowledged any problem with its 3G service.

Samsung in hoping to appeal the Galaxy Tab ban in Germany has brought forward a US patent that it claims might invalidate Apple's European design rights. Es existieren viele iCal-Erweiterungen, und Apps, die iCal ersetzen wollen. Viele dieser Apps haben jedoch mit starken Perfomance-Schwierigkeiten zu kämpfen, oder integrieren sich nicht perfekt genug in das iCal-System (Synchronisations-Probleme etc.). Fantastical ist da angenehm anders! Die App ist vielmehr ein Menulet, schafft es aber exzellent die iCal-Funktionalität zu erweitern, und integriert sich dabei vollständig in das OS X – Ökosystem. Control4 MyHome app takes up residence on Android while Android@Home is out of town

Home automation provider Control4 has finally seen fit to open up its systems to Android users, releasing a version of its MyHome software for phones and tablets. Already available on iOS and PCs, it lets homeowners with Control4 setups manage their video, music, lighting and more on their own devices with taps and gestures. After months of silence, Google's mobile VP Andy Rubin posted word that Android device activations were now up to 700,000 each day. Olympus' Tokyo offices raided over accounting scandal

A nearly-century old outfit is currently giving up office space to Japanese prosecutors, who today moved in on Olympus' Tokyo facilities in a raid surrounding an ongoing accounting investigation. MIT to launch MITx learning platform, offer free teaching materials in 2012

Law firms claim collusion between Apple, e-book publishers

Law firms have motioned this week to represent plaintiffs in class action suits accusing Apple of colluding with publishers. Grant & Eisenhofer claimed to have an insider that revealed "detailed knowledge" in March that gave it reason to pursue the case. A matching filing from another firm also pointed to a source, possibly the same one, that attended an "in-person meeting" with a "very knowledgeable and important confidential source" that was aware of dealings.
