Die Seriennummer eines Macs kann man für viele Zwecke benötigen: Sei es für Garantiefragen, um den AppleCare-Status zu prüfen (Anspruch auf Service und Support prüfen). Anstatt lange in Untermenüs zu suchen, reicht eine Zeile im Terminal aus, und wenige Sekunden später erscheint diese magische Nummer auch schon. Geben Sie einfach folgenden Befehl ein: system_profiler |grep "r (system)" Als Ausgabe bekommen Sie in etwa folgendes: 2011-09-17 17:02:57.448 system_profiler[999:00a] Found bsdName (0x543) for AppleUSBEthernet Serial Number (system): A09XXXXXXXXX Et voilà, schon können Sie Ihren Status überprüfen!

Verizon 3G throttling goes live weeks before iPhone 5

Verizon through a low key policy page confirmed that it had switched on its data throttling as of Thursday. The top five percent of 3G users on unlimited plans will have their connections slowed down when on heavily congested cell sites both for what's left of their billing period and for the following period. Those on 4G devices or on a capped plan don't see the throttling at all.

Verizon starts 'optimizing' (read: throttling) network for the most data hungry users

We can't say we weren't weren't warned, since Verizon updated its data policy way back in February, but it's still a punch in the gut to hear its "network optimization" plan went into effect yesterday. Apple stock cracks $400 barrier, holds steady after-hours

Apple stock (AAPL) broke through the $400 barrier for the first time on Friday, closing the market session at $400.50 on Friday and maintaining an over-$400 balance in after-hours trading. The stock had temporarily reached above $400 before -- up to a high of $404.50 -- but Friday was the first time it had closed above $400.
