Adobe Ideas for iPad gets feature boost

Adobe updated Ideas, its vector-based sketchbook application for the iPad, earlier this week. The 1.2 version of the iPad application is available for free and lets users grab a capacitive stylus or their finger to create a drawing or add annotations to images. This latest version adds a new premium layer functionality that lets you add up to 10 drawing layers and one photo layer for each sketch. You can also change the layer order and opacity as well as rotate, move and scale each layer using this new tool which is available as an in-app purchase. Originally introduced in April 2010

iPhone tests faster on AT&T than Verizon, Israel the fastest

Ookla founder and Speedtest.net creator Doug Suttles has run tests that show the AT&T iPhone holding the 3G performance lead in the US but still trailing well behind much of the world. In step with AT&T's use of 7.2Mbps HSPA for its 3G versus Verizon's 3.1Mbps EVDO Revision A, the original iPhone carrier was benchmarked roughly twice as fast on average, pulling roughly 1.7Mbps downstream and 712Kbps upstream compared to Verizon's 804Kbps and 502Kbps. The bezel would include touch sensors, pressure sensors, light emitters, haptic actuators and accelerometers. Apple Safe Deposit Box could be built-in Carbonite for Macs

Apple has quietly filed for a patent that could hint at Mac OS X Lion getting a built-in cloud backup feature. The app, labeled Safe Deposit Box in the patent, would at a minimum let users drag and drop files into an optionally encrypted space that would keep them safe without needing a whole-volume protection system like FileVault. Preferences, however, would let users not only keep a local copy but push it out to a "server bank or cloud storage" for off-site backup.
