Briefly: March iPad rumor, Target AT&T iPhone trade-ins

An unconfirmed rumor from a recently reliable source today pointed to Apple launching the iPad in March. The company would have a "small event" to kick off the new tablet in late February and would ship it sometime in March, releasing it slightly earlier than last year. Reporting site MacOtakara wasn't sure which countries would be included in the launch beyond the US.

Rumor: iPad 2 announcement at end of February for March release

The iPad 2 rumor mill is in full production mode now, with the latest coming from Japanese Mac site MacOtakara. According to the translation (unfortunately from Google Translate and not our very own Japan-based Rick Martin), Apple is planning on a short event toward the end of February during which the features and release date of the new device are to be announced. The continuing evolution of iOS devices, particularly the iPad, as medical tools took a historic step forward as the US Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Mobile MIM from MIM Software as the first mobile radiology app for viewing images and making medical diagnoses. While not intended to replace institutional workstations, it allows doctors to view CT, MRI and PET (et al) scans when there is no access to a workstation and without waiting for film. The Federal Court in Canada on Friday rejected a government exemption that allowed Wind Mobile to run. A judge ruled that the Conservative government violated the Telecommunications Act's rules on foreign ownership by allowing Globalive, which owns Wind, to run the cell carrier with more than a 20 percent share stake owned by a foreign company. Apple has teamed up with Rosetta Stone, Autodesk and Adobe to file a civil action against a south Florida man they claim is selling pirated copies of software from them and other companies.
