Rally Master Pro – iPad-Version im Dezember
Fishlabs hat vor kurzem darüber informiert, dass Rally Master Pro im Dezember mittels eines Updates auf die iPad-Version aufgerüstet werden soll.
Das Rally-Rennspiel war kürzlich aktualisiert worden. Das Update brachte den Support für die Retina-Display-Auflösung und die Möglichkeit des Ghost-Racings, des Zeitfahrens gegen den eigenen Schatten. Möglich ist nun ebenfalls im Karrieremodus das Schadensmodell abzustellen,

Editorial: My next iPad won't be a 7-incher, but I wish it could be
It took me a while, but I'm starting to fall in love with my iPad in a way I haven't loved a gadget for a long while. There's something about the form factor, the apps, the OS that feels just right and makes me want to do as much of my daily computing on it as possible. Of course, that's still a pretty small sliver of my overall day, and the iPad isn't even close to replacing my laptop for the large majority of my work, but I'm finding myself increasingly doing casual browsing, casual gaming, serious writing, and, yes, even some reading on Apple's 10-inch tablet.
But I have one "big" problem with the tablet that doesn't look like it'll be solved anytime soon: it's not 7 inches. Will Apple ever eat its words and build

Hack lets AirPlay work on all iOS apps
Users disappointed with the current limitations of AirPlay on iOS 4.2 have discovered a means to get it working in any app. A new Cydia-based hack, AirVideoEnabler (Cydia link), lets users push video from apps that use Apple's standard video container, up to and including the embedded video player in Safari. The approach requires a jailbreak and isn't necessarily stable.

News Corp iPad daily may be delayed into 2011
The News Corp tablet publication The Daily may not arrive until early next year, sources alleged Friday afternoon. They rebuffed the rumors of a mid-December launch and said it was "more likely" to reach into 2011. What triggered the delay wasn't clear in the Financial Times slip, but Apple supposedly hadn't yet agreed to allow recurring subscriptions.

Microsoft: we figured people would hack Windows Phone 7, would suggest that they don't
Hot on the heels of the release of a utility for bypassing the Windows Marketplace and sideloading your own apps, Microsoft has released a brief statement on the state of the Windows Phone 7 hacking community and we wouldn't exactly say they're too worked up about it:

Oh yes, it's sounded like a made-up device ever since the pictures of it started to leak out, but the netbook centered around the Jolicloud Linux operating system is indeed a real product. iPad 2 rumored to bring a Retina Display, more docks, and a camera
Now that iOS developers are rolling out plenty of iPad optimized versions of their apps, they may soon need to create yet more variants for the next generation iPad. Reports out of Taiwan are now saying that Apple will utilize a Retina Display, but if they do, resolution will have to increase from the current 1,024 x 768 and 132 pixels per inch to somewhere well north of 2,048 x 1,536.

AirVideoEnabler hack brings AirPlay video to the rest of your apps
Apple's new AirPlay video streaming functionality is great unless you want to use it in a non-Apple app. For whatever reason, Apple is restricting AirPlay video to just its first party apps right now, and not even all of those (Safari is left out, for instance). Interestingly, Apple actually built the functionality in, it's just not enabled. Thanks to some "spelunking" work by TUAW's Erica Sadun, it was discovered that a single line of code is all that's necessary to spread the feature to any app that relies on Apple's MediaPlayer framework, including VLC, AirVideo, and even Safari. Now Zone-MR has built a hack called AirVideoEnabler and put it on Cydia, allowing you to bring this

3 UK, T-Mobile UK to carry subsidized iPads in 2011
3 UK and T-Mobile UK have confirmed Apple's widening plans to offer subsidized iPads with a deal of its own. The British carriers will have 3G versions of the tablet available, including at "more affordable prices" when tied to a data plan. The companies wouldn't detail the prices or their plans other than to say the device would come in "coming months."

Hasselblad prices, ships Ferrari-edition H4D camera
Hasselblad today shipped the H4D-40 Ferrari Limited Edition. The special run medium format camera previewed earlier costs roughly in line with others in its class, at $29,499. Its launch strategy mimics that of the Ferrari Enzo and will see just 499 cameras sold with an 80mm lens.

OpenVizsla hopes to bring USB sniffing to the everyhacker
Remember that Kinect hack how-to? A key figure in the story was the use of a USB analyzer that was plugged in-between the Kinect and the Xbox to pick up on USB traffic and pull out a log that could be used for hacking. Well, there's a new 'OpenVizsla' project on KickStarter that's aiming to build open source hardware that can put this typically expensive tech ($1,400+) in the hands of more hackers, who use the hardware for anything from jailbreaking locked-down devices to building Linux drivers for hardware. Grilli3D claims to have developed a protective film for iPad screens that will allow users to view certain types of 3D content without requiring special glasses. It's that time of year again for Apple's one-day shopping event, and this year they have cut prices on new iPods, iPads and some Macs. Save $41 on any configuration of the iPad, now starting at $458 for the 16GB iPad with WiFi. The 32GB iPad with WiFi has been reduced to $558, and the 64GB WiFi iPad has been cut to $658. The 3GB capable iPads have also been reduced and now start at $588 for the 16GB model, $688 for the 32GB model, and $788 for the 64GB model.

Apple may ship 3 million MacBooks, 750,000 Airs in fall
Apple is hoping to ship three million MacBooks this fall, tips from the PC industry said on Friday. Its shipments should reach about one million per month, 20 to 25 percent of which would be the new MacBook Air. Taiwan sources expect next iPad to have Retina Display, USB
Industry contacts on Friday said they expected the next-generation iPad to revolve around five key changes. The centerpiece would be "new display technology" that would bring a Retina Display-like LCD. MeggyCade: it's what happens when Meggy Jr. meets arcade (video)
How much fun can you really have with an 8x8 pixel array? Quite a lot, as evidenced by this here arcade project. One Bomber Punk has managed to created a full-on arcade enclosure for a Meggy Jr. game console, and he even took the time to swap in coin-op buttons and a joystick for control. The whole thing took around a month to build (part-time, of course), and considering that he has managed to load up an absurdly pixelated version of Donkey Kong, we'd say it was definitely worthwhile. Swisscom Abo kann bald direkt vom iPad verwaltet werden
Wie uns ein Leser berichtet, gibt es in den iPad Einstellungen unter «Mobile Daten» eine Option, um seinen Vertrag beziehungsweise Swisscom Preisplan verwalten zu können.
Ab den 30. November kann so direkt vom iPad aus ein Data-Paket gewählt oder mehr Daten-Volumen hinzugefügt werden können. Zudem bietet das neue Menu eine Option, um aktuelle Transferdaten einzusehen oder den Vertrag direkt zu beenden. Swisscom verschickt ausserdem neu bei verbleibendem Datenvolumen von 20%, 10% und 0% eine «Push»-Meldung
Mit dem neuen Swisscom Preisplan «NATEL® data easy flex» und der neuen Menu-Option können so Tagespakete zu 100MB für CHF 5.- oder 300MB (CHF 19.-) beziehungsweise 2GB Pakete (CHF 39.-) für je 30 Tage ohne monatliche Grundgebühr auch unterwegs gelöst werden.
Gemäss der Swisscom Informationsseite für den iPad ist der neue Preisplan sowie die Möglichkeit diesen unterwegs zu verwalten ab 30. November verfügbar.

2011 Chevy Volt gets stickered: 93MPG on battery, 37MPG on gasoline
The poster child for the electric car has just received its official EPA sticker, merely days after Nissan's Leaf received its own. Granted, the Volt can haul around quite a few more Earthlings (and grocery bags, for that matter) than the compact Leaf, but it still won't be able to claim the world's best gas mileage amongst its peers. Researchers from security firm SecTheory have described a handful of flaws in webOS, saying that the platform -- by its very nature -- is more prone to these sorts of things than its major competitors because Palm puts web technologies like JavaScript closer to webOS' core where system functions are readily accessible. Apple launches US Black Friday: $458 iPad, $101 off Macs [U]
Apple has detailed the US discounts it plans to have on Black Friday in advance of the sale itself. The Apple Store will sell all iPads at $41 off, bringing the price of a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad down to $458. Acer hopes to overtake Apple in tablets in 2-3 years
Acer CEO Gianfranco Lanci in a question and answer session after his tablet unveilings this week said that he hoped to beat Apple in the tablet market within two to three years. He expected Acer to get 10 to 20 percent of the field shortly after launch and to take the lead from the iPad later on. Acer's already confirmed that it's forthcoming 10.1-inch Windows 7 tablet will be AMD-powered, but it unfortunately didn't get any more specific on the matter than that. If a new DigiTimes report is to be believed, however, it looks like the tablet will use AMD's dual-core C-50 Ontario APU (or accelerated processing unit), which itself consumes just 9W of power and packs a built-in Radeon HD 6250 graphics chip. Google says Chrome OS coming to handhelds, tablets, TVs
Google's VP of engineering for Chrome Linus Upson in an interview late Wednesday called out his company's plans to expand Chrome OS beyond netbooks. The web app platform was designed for traditional compute design, he acknowledged, but it had the potential to be an alternate to Android on small-sized devices and Google TV on very large screens. It's not Friday in the US yet, but you can get an early look at Apple's discounts for Black Friday on the store site now. Savings include $101 off the purchase of new MacBook Pro or MacBook Air laptops, and the same off new iMacs. The iPad is available at a $41 discount, and the iPod nano costs $11 less tomorrow.
