Libratone chose the relative free space of American Thanksgiving to unveil a wireless speaker tailored to Apple users. Briefly: Air Mouse from Movea, DEVONtech Black Friday sale
Movea has unveiled a new app that can turn an iPhone 4 into an air mouse for presentations and HTPC use. The Air Mouse app ($2, App Store) works with MotionTools software, which allows users to customize, activate, and control desktop applications. Sony returns to Japanese e-readers with iPad, Kindle looming
Sony Japan today said it would return to e-readers in Japan by launching the Reader in the country. The recently updated all-touch line will come to the country on December 10, starting at the equivalent of $239 for the five-inch Pocket Edition and moving to $299 for a six-inch Touch Edition. The 3G- and Wi-Fi-capable Daily Edition won't be part of the first round of models.

Leak details iBooks collections, PDF mailing and printing
Apple's plans to bring folders to iBooks was detailed late last evening in a copy of a leaked user guide update. Referred to as collections, the approach will mirror that of other book apps and will let users make and rename collections of regular books and PDFs that can show on the bookshelf. The 9 to 5 tip showed that regular "Books" and "PDFs" categories will be treated as collections of their own.

Apple snapping up old HP headquarters
Apple in a milestone is moving into HP's old headquarters, the company confirmed late Wednesday. HP has signaled that it has sold its decades-old campus at 19091 Pruneridge Avenue in Cupertino, just five minutes' drive from Apple's 1 Infinite Loop, in favor of consolidating around Palo Alto. While it declined to name the buyer, Apple spokesman Steve Dowling confirmed that his company had bought the soon to be vacated space.

Apple Australia hints at US deals for iPads, MacBook Air
Apple's Australian store and matching New Zealand shop has started its Black Friday sale and has indicated what's likely to be on sale when the US and other countries turn the clock. The company is notably including the new MacBook Air among the discounts and is trimming $121 AUD ($119 US) off the prices of both 13-inch models. iPads have also gone on sale by $51 AUD for every model, hinting that Apple will sell the iPad at $50 off in the US.

Hitachi tech could lead to 24TB hard drives
Hitachi and Japan's New Energy and Industrial Technology Development (NEDO) have revealed a new technology that could lead to hard drives with eight times more storage than with existing hardware. A new patterning approach lets polymer materials used for the magnetic storage arrange themselves much more efficiently than in current approaches. The technique produces about 3.9 terabits per inch (488GB) even when applied to otherwise normal drives.

Windows Phone 7 apps close to iPhone on price, gaming bias
Windows Phone 7's early app market is much more competitive with the iPhone and other platforms than Windows Mobile, Distimo found in its latest study. The average price of any paid WP7 app is now the cheapest of all the stores at about $1.95, or double the $4 for iPhone apps. Microsoft's one-time attempt at pushing premium apps is still evident at the older Windows Marketplace for Mobile, where the average app is three times more expensive at $6.27.

EU fixiert Bedingungen für Ratifizierung von ACTA

Now that you've got your Windows Phone 7 device splayed open for USB mass storage use, why not make it friendly to non-Marketplace apps, too? Australia's Apple Store leads with Black Friday discounts
Down Under it's already Friday, so as is customary the Australian version of the online Apple Store has already posted the holiday discounts it's offering for the day. All items include free shipping. The US and other online Apple Stores will probably hew quite closely to these discounts when they reveal their deal pages.
The savings hover around 8% for most items, although if you're looking for an iPod touch this holiday you might consider buying it tomorrow -- depending on capacity you might save as much as 18% off retail.
Note that several domestic retailers (Walmart, Best Buy and Toys R Us among others) are expected to offer gift card bun

NoMute: Drehsperre statt Stummschalter dank Jailbreak-Tool
Jailbreaker können den Drehsperrenschalter am iPad unter iOS 4.2.1 wieder benutzen: NoMute ersetzt die aktuelle Stummschaltungsfunktion gegen die ursprüngliche Funktionalität des Schalters.

President Obama signs another iPad
At the NATO summit in Lisbon, Portugal, an iPad-toting attendee approached President Obama and asked him to sign his 21st century autograph pad. The President replied, "I've done this once before."
Back in October, President Obama signed an iPad at a rally at the University of Washington. As Dave Caolo noted at the time, this was the first presidential autograph captured with an iPad that we know of.

ITC agrees to look into Apple's complaint against Motorola
The ITC this week agreed to look into Apple's trade complaint attached to its lawsuit against Motorola. Officials will investigate three of the interface patents at the heart of the dispute. If found violating the patents, Motorola could see nine of its Android phones, among them the Droid 2 and Droid X, banned from import into the US.

Meizu CEO: Apple VP flew to China over M8 dispute
Meizu CEO Jack Wong, in an online chat, has claimed that Apple sent a vice president to meet with the company over the M8, Meizu's previous attempt to capitalize on Apple's success in China. After Apple successfully halted sales of the M8, the company announced that their latest model, the M9, would move to an Android platform and customize the OS to differentiate itself more from Apple's products, while still borrowing from Apple for the hardware design.

XM, Sirius finally announce plans to merge in Canada
Ready to have your mind blown? XM and Sirius never merged in Canada. Even after the two companies joined forces in the United States, they continued to operate as separate entities north of the border, with XM Canada wholly owned by Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings, while Sirius Canada operated through a partnership of CBC Radio, Slaight Communications, and Sirius XM in the US. Team at Purdue University working on high-temp generators to suck power from car exhaust
You know all that gas spitting out the exhaust of your car? Not only is it full of carbon monoxide and other things you shouldn't breathe, it's also full of heat. Gear 4 HouseParty AirWave dock gets Internet radio

PlayStation phone may get iPhone 4-like display, $10 games
More information surrounding the PlayStation phone may have emerged in a leak this evening that focused on the screen and games. While backing many details that were already known, it should have a "mind-blowing" display that would be comparable to the iPhone 4's screen. Sony Ericsson is considering using the Bravia brand to promote the quality, MobileCrunch said, much as it has for some Japan-only phones.

Wait, put the cork back in the champagne, Nintendo isn't making its triumphant return to CES after all. The Consumer Electronics Association has just blasted out a new press release, presumably with a face red with embarrassment, to correct its erroneous note that Nintendo will be an exhibitor at the 2011 tech showcase. Android Market apps to require Apple-style content ratings
Android Developer Ecosystem lead Eric Chu today said all Android Market apps will need and receive content ratings. The new system will require an All category safe for everyone as well as Pre-teen, Teen and Mature. The ratings will be based on the levels of alcohol and drugs, offensive speech, sex, violence and technical details such as location awareness or user-to-user chat.

Android Market adding content ratings to all apps, past, present, and future
Mandatory content ratings were added to Apple's App Store back in iPhone OS 3.0, and now it's Google's turn on news that they'll become obligatory for Android developers "in a few weeks" (at least, those that want their content in the Market). Comcast, NBC object to sharing online video post-merger
A filing today revealed Comcast and NBC have been pressing the FCC to withdraw its proposal that they must allow online video deals if their merger is approved. The two hoped to cloud the issue by arguing that programming access rules were designed for "traditional linear delivery" and that it should be allowed to withhold video from companies like Amazon or Apple because of the Internet. Online video is too new to make it clear what would be unfair, it argued.
