Multitouch-Deaktivierung für CS4
Nachdem sich seit langem die User darüber beschweren, hat Adobe nun ein Plugin herausgegeben, dass bei Photoshop CS4 die Deaktivierung von Multitouch bringt. Es handelt sich dabei um die Drehung der Arbeitsfläche und die Zoomfunktion, die von Trackpadusern oft aus Versehen aktiviert werden. Download 64KB.

Look out, Amazon -- Onyx International has your number. Among the electronic bounty we'll be checking out at CeBIT will be the Boox e-reader. The device boasts a 6-inch e-ink touchscreen with 16 shades of gray, 512MB storage, WiFi, support for various formats (including EPUB / PDF / HTML / TXT / CHM / MOBI / JPG / BMP / PNG / GIF / TIFF / MP3), and text to speech (but sadly, no Tom). We don't have a price yet, so we're not entirely sure how threatened you should feel, but if we had to wager we'd probably bet on "not very."

iClipboard 2.0 updates with Menu Bar link, more
Chronos has published a major update to its iClipboard utility, bringing it to v2.0. The app allows items copied to the normal Mac OS X clipboard to be remembered, instead of automatically swapped out. Users can thus copy several items at a time, and insert them into other documents at leisure. New to v2.0 is a Menu Bar object, which lets users more quickly reach clippings.

Gemei's HD-660 offers 720p HD playback
China's Gemei has recently unveiled its latest portable media player, the HD-660, which is capable of playing back HD videos on its 4.3-inch 480x272 widescreen display. The player can hold TransFlash cards with maximum capacities of 32GB and supports JPG, BMP and PNG image files, as well as RM, RMVB, AVI, FLV and MPEG video files. Nokia irks UK carriers with decision to include Skype on N97
Nokia made plenty of folks happy with its decision to include Skype on its new N97 handset, and future N-series devices, but it looks like the usual cadre of UK carriers aren't among them, and they're now making their displeasure quite clear. That includes O2 and Orange, who are apparently threatening to refuse stock of the N97 unless Nokia strips out the Skype client, a point they have reportedly made directly to Nokia in "high-level discussions." Epson intros retro-styled R-D1xG camera
Epson Japan recently introduced a successor to its R-D1 rangefinder digital camera released back in 2004 with the R-D1xG. Dell reveals SX2210 1080p LCD monitor

The controversy surrounding the Kindle 2's text to speech functionality continues unabated, and as we delve further into the legal back 'n forth between Amazon and the Authors Guild, we wonder if we haven't discovered the true identity of "Tom." Nokia's XpressMusic 5800 troubled with speaker and NAM radio woes?
Seems all's not rosy in North American XpressMusic 5800-land, as tipsters and forums are buzzing with reports that the newly launched touchscreen isn't connecting to 3G. We did a little spelunking on the newly launched set ourselves, and we can confirm that 3G appears to be a complete no-go -- GSM works fine, but apart from a very brief 3.5G blip, we're getting nothing in terms of UMTS or HSDPA. It's been quite some time since we've heard a good word from the folks at Gemei, but clearly, there was no resolution made upon the Chinese New Year that they'd stick to originality and stop ripping ideas from other PMP mainstays. When it comes to Cloud computing, we are definitely Google Apps fans but many people who have a better eye for design than us are MobileMe'ers. To them, Apple sent a warm email (cut below) this week announcing that MobileMe is finally able to Push email, calendar, etc. services out. It has been a long recovery since the original MobileMe launch last year but it seems like everything is coming around. Maybe we'll consider migrating from Google Apps? Nah!

Adding further fuel and confusion to the Nokia laptop fire sparked by yesterday's comments from CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasuvo, we have DigiTimes reporting that Nokia is actively seeking Taiwanese manufacturing and design partners for its netbook -- a very specific laptop form-factor. DoCoMo forced to stop BlackBerry Bold sales
Japan's biggest wireless provider, NTT DoCoMo, has stopped sales of Research In Motion's BlackBerry Bold because some of the phones overheat while being recharged, a Friday report says. Of the 4,000 Bolds sold in Japan, the provider received 30 complaints saying the keyboard area heats up, though there are no reports of fires or fingers being burned. Last we checked, Mobile World Congress ended a few days ago, but evidently ASUS doesn't mind a bit. Out of nowhere, the company has just introduced its newest Windows Mobile 6.1 (boo) smartphone, the P835. Without a doubt, the two standout features here are the 3.5-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen and support for HSUPA 7.2Mbps downloads. It's apparently not quite the same fire hazard that the truth in advertising standard-bearer Quickfire is, but NTT DoCoMo doesn't seem to be taking any chances with its newly-launched BlackBerry Bold, with the Japanese carrier now suspending sales of the smartphone after some reports of it getting a bit too toasty for comfort. Novell meldet leichten Umsatz- und Gewinnrückgang
Novell hat im ersten Geschäftsquartal 2009 (bis 31. Januar) einen Umsatz von 215 Millionen Dollar erwirtschaftet. Das sind 16 Millionen weniger als im Vergleichszeitraum des Vorjahres. After teasing its entries last month, Dell's finally bringing its eco-game to the desktop panel scene with the 22-inch G2210 and 24-inch G2410, two displays that are so energy efficient they can only display pictures of windmills and solar panels (seriously, hit the read links). Telekom übertrifft Finanzziele und beschließt Umbau

Between the Commercial Times and DigiTimes, no secret is safe within ASUS. The former is reporting (via the latter) that ASUS will launch its second generation ultra-thin Eee PC in April as followup to the Eee PC S101. The rumor mill seems to be coalescing around a new CyberShot DSC-HX1 camera from Sony in the run-up to the big PMA camera show next week. In fact, on-line camera shops are already adding placeholders for Sony's new flagship, super-zoom with 1080p video and HQ sound. Dells Gewinn bricht um fast 50 Prozent ein

Bis zur Gerichtsverhandlung zwischen Apple und Psystar vergeht noch einige Zeit, erst im November sollen die Verhandlungen stattfinden. US-Rapper Eminem hat es tatsächlich geschafft, sein Label Universal vor Gericht zu bringen, um es auf höhere Anteile an den Download-Verkäufen seiner Songs zu verklagen. Laut AppleInsider erhalten die meisten Künstler etwa 0,20 US-Dollar der 0,70 US-Dollar, die Labels aus einem verkauften Song bei iTunes generieren. The design project consists of a central control block at the base of the tower with an embedded force sensor and 6 circular connectors. Add more (or heavier) blocks to increase the volume or twist the block atop the base to switch tracks. USA: CBS-Serien auf iPhone und Touch
CBS Interactive bringt leider nur in den USA das Angebot der Webseite TV.com auf das iPhone. Mit dem gleichnamigen kostenlosen App kann man über Wi-Fi oder 3G aktuelle Fernsehserien oder Nachrichtensendungen als Stream auf dem iPhone oder iPod touch betrachten. Neben der klassischen Programmauswahl nach (CBS-)Sendern hat man die Möglichkeit, mithilfe von Suchbegriffen einen auf den persönlichen Geschmack zugeschnittenen Video-Feed zu generieren.
Der Zugriff auf das Angebot wird wie bereits die TV.com-Webseite per IP-Sperre von außerhalb der USA geblockt. Im Bezug auf vergleichbare Angebote in Deutschland heißt es wie so oft in solchen Dingen: Die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt.

Palm finally manages to bore us to tears with webOS Mojo SDK tutorial
We knew this day would come, and at last we've been faced with 56+ minutes of webOS-related video that we could barely keep our eyes open for. Palm Software CTO Mitch Allen did a rundown for an O'Reilly webcast detailing the structure and paradigms of webOS, and then went ahead and built a simple little app using TextMate and Safari. While we're sure some JavaScript fanboys out there will have a field day with this, there weren't too many juicy tidbits in there for us mere mortals. CBS Interactive unveils TV.com for iPhone
Content providers are moving their content directly to the iPhone these days, bypassing iTunes and the other "middlemen". The latest but certainly not the last to do this sort of thing is CBS Interactive with their aptly named TV.com application. Right now the content is a little thin(selected full episodes from the CSI series, NCIS, Berverly Hills 90210, Star Trek: The Original Series, and MacGyver), but it isn't hard to see all of CBS's content ending up available on the iPhone.
The free app is availalbe in the App Store for both iPhone and iPod touch.

Es gibt nicht viel, worüber sich Apple und Klon-Hersteller Psystar einig sind. Geschäftsgeheimnisse möchten allerdings beide Firmen gewahrt sehen und haben deshalb dem Richter eine Anfrage vorgelegt, die bei Genehmigung es beiden Firmen erlaubt, wichtige Dokumente als vertraulich zu behandeln.

Apple entfernt alte Kommentare aus dem App Store
Bis September letzten Jahres konnten iPhone-Anwendungen bewertet werden, ohne sie eingekauft zu haben. Diese Vorgehensweise hat dazu geführt, dass viele kritische Berichte allein auf den Screenshots, dem Programmnamen oder der Funktion basierten. Apple hat nun begonnen, diese alten Kommentare und Bewertungen aus dem App Store zu entfernen, es verbleiben also einzig die Testberichte, bei denen die Benutzer auch tatsächlich die Anwendung gekauft hatten.

22-inch SX2210 widescreen LCD monitor spotted on Dell's website
That enigmatic monitor that's been strutting its stuff in Dell's Studio XPS 435 glamor shots has been unmasked as the 22-inch SX2210. A product page and online manual for the widescreen LCD have surfaced on the company's site, and here's what we know so far: it's got 1080p resolution, a 2.0 megapixel embedded webcam, 1000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 2 millesecond response time, 160 degrees horizontal / 170 degrees vertical viewing angles, and 300 cd/m² brightness. BlackBerry Pearl 8230 flips its way into the FCC's heart
In the unlikely event that you needed a few final shreds of evidence to be convinced that the CDMA version of the BlackBerry Pearl flip -- the 8230 -- is real, feast your eyes on this heavy reading. Just-approved FCC documents show a device outline that can only be described as that of a clamshell, and sure enough, the SAR report indicates CDMA and EV-DO on the 850 and 1900MHz bands, so yeah, if this isn't the 8230, we can't imagine what it'd be. High-powered, jet-mounted laser one step closer to flying the terrifying skies
The jet-mounted laser anti-missile system, brainchild of Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Boeing and the US Air Force, has been an ongoing project for quite some time. QWERTY iDEN Motorola i465 official press shot leaked
Well, what do we have here? Yep, that's the Motorola i465, the first iDEN phone with a full QWERTY keyboard in the entire universe in a seemingly official press shot. GreenWheel converts any Huffy 10-speed into an electric bicycle
It's a struggle we all face. There's the urge to bike to work each day, and then there's the realization that you're too huge / lazy / tired to make it on your own. Brilliant minds at MIT understand your frustration, and rather than asking you to drop a few grand on a bona fide electric bike, they're developing an apparatus that can convert any standard bicycle into one that's juiced. The GreenWheel contains an electric generator, batteries and an electric motor, all of which only need a wheel to be respoked in order to fit in. This this is dedication. While most softcore gamers are totally kosher with using the standard DS button layout to hit up retro titles like Super Mario Bros., Parked Bowab is definitely not. In order to bring back a sense of dignity to the heralded titles of the past (and to show off his fantastic modding skills), he hard wired an original NES controller to a Nintendo DS. The result? PlayStation Network snags 20M users, Xbox Live still way more profitable
Sony announced a landmark this week for its PlayStation Network: 20 million users worldwide, as of February 20. According to the presser, that breaks down to 5 million in the first 14 months of service, 5 million more 8 months later, and an additional 10 million the 7 months after that. There's quite a few caveats to consider here, as that includes PSP and PS3 users as well as anyone who wishes to use the official PS forums, whether or not they own one of the aforementioned consoles.
