Walt Mossberg promises 3G iPhone in 60 days
Filed under: Cellphones
While talking up web as a video delivery medium at a Beet.TV executive summit, Walt Mossberg casually yet confidently mentioned that the iPhone will be going 3G in 60 days. Of course, it doesn't take an illustrious position as tech pundit to the masses to figure out a 3G iPhone is just around the corner: price cuts, stock shortages and word from Ralph de la Vega himself have rapidly narrowed down the launch window, but a semi-guarantee from U

The word is now that if Yahoo can't see that, Microsoft will be compelled to take its case "directly to [Yahoo's] shareholders." Microsoft is giving Yahoo three weeks, and then promises to

Heat from data center used to warm Swiss swimming pool

Put simply, the warmth emitted by the computers will be piped through a heat exchanger to boost the temperature of water used in the neighboring pool, and while the town had to cover some of the equipment costs to make it come together, it'll reap the oh-so-st

First manned flight using hydrogen battery doesn't cause rain, only tears

You're looking at the world's first manned flight powered by a hydrogen battery. Boeing's prop-driven aircraft set the lone pilot aloft for about 20 minutes at a speed of 100-kilometres (62 miles) an hour at an altitude of about 1,000 meters. The 800-kilogram (1,760-pound) craft with a 16.3-meter (51-foot) wingspan is capable of flying for about 45 minutes under the power of its hydrogen fuel cells -- the airplane's batteries provided an additional boost for takeoff. The fuel cells harvest the energy produced by the chemical transformation of hydrogen and oxygen into water -- that makes the craft clean as well as near silent.

GM cranks up battery tests for plug-in Volt

General Motors doesn't have long before everyone and their cousin expects to see at least a few Volts on the road -- and it knows it. In an attempt to make sure the deadline is met, the firm has battery testing going on 'round the clock in Michigan and Germany that will theoretically simulate a decade of use in just two years. Additionally, it's placing batteries in test Malibus in order to get a feel for real-world results. Still, GM has yet to definitively decide on the final engine or which battery supplier it'll end up working with, but as the eleventh hour grows ever closer, we

Apple contre Big Apple
Source: LA Times Apple Inc is currently at war with the City of New York, known in the United States as the "Big Apple".
The bone of contention is the Apple symbol. This is the logo used by the city in an advertising campaign urging people to be energy efficient and use recycling.
Apple believes it is too close to its own logo, and will cause "consumer confusion resulting in damage and injury" to Apple, and "cause dilution of the distinctiveness" of Apple.
The city of New York contends that the logo will not be used on items offered by Apple, such as mugs, plates
(Yet, the mugs with the apple exist:) But they certainly do not represent the heart of their substantive trade.

Pwnage disponible
Source: http://www.iphone-dev.org/ A few days late, the iPhone Dev Team has posted its Pwnage tools.
They allow the iPhone to be unlocked by dramatically changing their Bootloader to delete the routines for checking updates that raised problems for hackers with updates from Apple.
Thus, it is possible with these tools to unblock the beta version of the next firmware of the iPhone which has been proposed with the new SDK.
Disregarding the problems posed by hackers to Apple, we admire the skill level that they have acquired since the release of the device. They finally understand all the most secret intricacies. Of course, we are also curious about how Apple will react. They have in fact lost all control over a device intended precisely to be carefully controlled.

Intel will Notebook-Diebe per Fernbedienung bekämpfen

Apple continues to slide the MacBook Core duo in amongst the other machines in the Refurb shop. Because they are sold at the same rate or slightly less than Core 2 Duo machines, avoid these "bargains"!
Indeed, apart from the fact that their processor is less powerful, they are also not compatible with 802.11n, which is a big flaw.
Attention also, tariffs remain a difficult jungle to understand and some MacBook Core 2 saw their prices rise.
However, it remains possible to get a bargain, as long as one is careful.

Today, after having disappeared from the shelves of retailers, their website has also closed.
It must be said that the move to G5, and then quickly to Intel killed the market for accelerator card on the Mac (G4).
We want to thank them for giving us so much fun under the hood and for giving a new lease of life to our Mac for a few years.
They now join a museum of brands that have disappeared, who made us dream with XLR8, MacTel and to a certain extent Powerlogix who now have a few accessories of not much interest.
