Looking for a little more insight into the second tablet from Italy's first consumer tablet manufacturer? Apple supply chain points to "iPhone 4S" in Sept., iPad 3 prototype in early 2012

A second investment research firm on Monday cited sources in Taiwan as indicating that Apple's fifth-generation iPhone will hit the market early in the third quarter and also did its part to pour cold water on rumors of an iPad 3 launch prior to next year and a low-cost iPhone in 2011.

NVIDIA teases a pair of mystery laptop GPUs running Crysis 2 (video)

Did someone say controlled leak? NVIDIA's come clean about the fact that it has some news to share tomorrow, but until then, it's being oh-so demure about what it has up its sleeve. Behold, an unnamed GPU -- two of 'em, in fact! -- running Crysis 2 in SLI mode. What you see in the short clip below is the DirectX11 version of the game running at 1080p resolution with tesselation enabled and a high-resolution texture pack. CSI Virtual MasterCard app will extend mobile payments to iOS, others

Engadget has confirmed that CSI and MasterCard will launch a mobile payment application for iOS in July of this year. The interesting note is that iOS and RIM are on the list, as there are no iPhone or BlackBerry devices with Near-Field Communication (NFC) capability. By gazing into the crystal ball we assume that the app won't depend on NFC or, less likely, both Apple and RIM will release NFC-enabled hardware. Soldiers in Singapore to get iPad 2s as standard equipment?

Singapore's defense ministry has decided to issue nearly 8,000 iPad 2s to its military recruits beginning this November, according to PhysOrg. In 2012, it also plans to hand out the device to others serving in the military. Möwe klaut laufende Videokamera und flimt sich dabei selbst

Vielleicht dachte die Möwe, es sei was zu essen, dass sie dabei gefilmt wurde, scheint sie nicht mitbekommen zu haben. Aus einem Garten schnappte sich der Vogel eine Go Pro-Kamera und segelte damit eine Weile durch Cannes und sorgte dabei für ansprechende Bilder. Ein wenig wie die YouTube-Schildkröte, die ebenfalls mit Kamera im Maul für eine spannende Bilderdoku sorgte. Der Besitzer fand sein Eigentum später auf dem Dach eines umliegenden Gebäudes. Apple has become Australia's top mobile brand

There are a lot of iPhones in Australia, and IDC reports today that the number has grown enough to make the iPhone the top smartphone "down under." Apple is reported to have a 40% market share of Australia's smartphone market, a rise of about 10% quarter-to-quarter. Android has a 30% share, while Symbian is plunging to a third place 22%. The IDC analysts expect the Android OS phones to eventually be the top sellers, something we've seen here in the states. TomTom bleeds GPS share faster than expected due to phones

TomTom issued a warning Monday that its GPS units were losing share to Android and iPhone hardware faster than it first thought. Its North American stake was seeing a "faster rate of decline" than it saw at the start and would plunge 30 percent for all of 2011. African-designed VMK Gingerbread tablet eager to show its face, shipping in September

This is the upcoming tablet from Congolese company VMK -- or, rather, this is the back of the upcoming tablet. We received a note from the company's CEO explaining that, while the Gingerbread slate is making its internet debut, the front isn't quite ready for public consumption, seeing as how the company is a bit worried about getting poached by copycats as it attempts to register a few trademarks. The Android 2.3.3 tablet is apparently ramping up for a September release in its native Africa, though the company is still looking for more funding, seeing as how difficult it can be to launch a CE product in that part of the world. Apple has modified the Taiwanese App Store to comply with a law enforcing a seven-day trial period for online products, the Economic Times of India claims. Officials in Taipei recently ruled that both Apple and Google were in violation of the law by selling apps without recourse if the software was faulty or otherwise unwanted. It is now reportedly possible to get a refund in Taiwan if a person decides against an app within the seven-day window.

Nokia N950 town down by FCC with 12-megapixel camera onboard

Nokia's N950 developer phone has already surfaced in an FCC filing (note: link may not work) that shows it already close to being available in the US. The MeeGo phone, once thought to be the N9 and even showing the N9 name, has the familiar sliding, tilting QWERTY keyboard of numerous leaks.
