How Twitter viewed the Apple announcements
Anyone on Twitter yesterday couldn't avoid the rush of tweets about the iPhone 5c and 5s. NetBase is a social media intelligence company that checks the pulse of public opinion through Twitter and other social media, and they provided some data to TUAW about how the announcements were received. The company looked at public sentiment for Apple between September 1 and September 10, with almost 3 million mentions of Apple and new products leading up to the event.
According to NetBase, between 10 AM - 12 PM PDT on September 10 there were about 600,000 additional mentions of Apple online, 99 percent of which were on Twitter. News: Apple offers discontinued iPhone 5 starting at $99/$549
Following the introduction of the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s yesterday, Apple is selling off its stock of iPhone 5 units at $99/$199/$299 for 16GB/32GB/64GB models with a standard contract, iLounge has confirmed. Signs point to Apple deal with China Moble
After years of speculation and spyshots of Tim Cook in China, it appears that the stage is set for Apple to finally bring the iPhone to China Mobile.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple recently received a regulatory license to run the iPhone on China Mobile's proprietary network standard. Early Graphics Benchmarks Show Significant Boost for iPhone 5s
Following yesterday's introduction of the iPhone 5s, a new GFXbench result showing partial graphic benchmarking results has appeared revealing significant improvements compared to the iPhone 5 on the Egypt HD 2.5 test (via @nerdtalker and @anexanhume). Touch ID is huge for businesses and employees, but for different reasons
Apple's newly revealed iPhone 5s sports a number of improvements over its predecessor, but if there's one feature that truly sets the device apart from other iPhones (if not from all previous smartphones), it's Touch ID. On Apple, the new iPhones and points made and missed
As you might expect, overnight some smart folks wrote some smart posts about the smart things going on in Cupertino (our wrap up of the event can be found here). Laut BGR ist das was ihr hier seht die neue Version von Amazons Kindle Fire HD, der demnach ein etwas massiveres Design hätte, bei dem das Gehäuse deutlich wuchtiger ist und Lautstärkergeler und Einschaltknopf auf die Rückseite gewandert sind. BGR hat nur Fotos von der 7-Zoll Version, die Benchmarks der 8.9er-Variante waren letzten Monat aufgetaucht: Snapdragon 800 SoC, Adreno 330 GPU und ein verbessertes Display mit2560 x 1600 Pixeln. iCloud Keychain Removed in iOS 7 GM
Apple appears to have removed iCloud Keychain support from the iOS 7 Golden Master (GM), which was seeded to developers yesterday. While iCloud preferences previously listed iCloud Keychain, the option has now been removed, suggesting that the initial public release of iOS 7 will not include the function. iCloud Keychain is also newly tagged as "Coming soon" on Apple's iOS 7 feature page and while it is unclear why it has been removed from the GM, it is likely that Apple has chosen to release the feature alongside OS X Mavericks, which is slated to be released later this year. Apple's media event on Tuesday was chock full of important announcements; new iPhone designs, enhanced camera functionality, a fingerprint authorization sensor and more.
What we didn't hear was any mention of Apple's revered iPod. Indeed, this marks just the second time in eight years that Apple hasn't used a special media event in September to introduce a refreshed iPod of any kind. Three Announces 4G Rollout Plan in Four UK Cities [iOS Blog]
The UK carrier Three has announced that it will begin its 4G LTE rollout in four major UK cities starting in December of this year, with a further 42 cities due to be added by the end of 2014. According to its website, London, Birmingham (including the surrounding West Midlands), Manchester, and Reading will receive 4G coverage by the end of the year. Unlike other British carriers, Three is not charging a premium for its 4G services, as long as customers have compatible devices. Apple TV refresh expected next week with tweaked AirPlay function
Yesterday the spotlight was shining on Apple's iPhone lineup, but next week, expect to see a refresh of the company's "hobby" -- the Apple TV. Peter Kafka at AllThingsD reports that Apple TV will gain new capabilities with an update scheduled for September 18. That's the same day that iOS 7 is released to the public.
In particular, Kafka says that AirPlay will receive a significant change, allowing content purchased from the iTunes store to play on any TV capable of working with AirPlay. September, ein Software-Update erhalten soll. Wie zu lesen ist, sollen Insider ein Software-Update für Apples ATV am 18. September vermuten. Dieses soll die AirPlay-Funktionalität ausbauen, in der Form, dass Nutzer dann auch auf fremden ATV ohne Login-Daten Inhalte streamen lassen können. Apple has quietly added a US$59 AppleCare+ plan for the iPod Classic and iPod touch. Like other products eligible for AppleCare+ plans, the iPod Classic and iPod touch can now get an additional one year of warranty coverage, a total of two years of phone support, and two incidents of repair or replacement due to accidental damage (with an additional $29 fee to cover accidental damage when it occurs).

«MA USB» ermöglicht bald drahtloses USB
Das «USB Implementers Forum», kurz USB-IF, arbeitet seit kurzem an den Spezifikationen für einen neuen USB-Standard. Das Ziel der Entwickler ist die Etablierung des «MA USB»-Standards, mit welchem es möglich ist, Daten über das USB-Protokoll zu verbreiten, ohne dass eine physische Verbindungen zwischen den verschiedenen Geräten notwendig ist.
Unter anderem sollen dazu die WiFi-Frequenzbänder im Bereich von 2.4 und 5 GHz genutzt werden. Gleichzeitig sollen auch die Frequenzbänder im Bereich von 60 GHz genutzt werden. Dieses Frequenzband wollte bereits die «Wi-Fi Alliance» mit dem «WiGig»-Standard entwickeln. Um der Technologie zum Durchbruch zu verhelfen, hat die «Wi-Fi Alliance» einen Teil der Spezifikationen dem USB-IF zur Verfügung gestellt.

Vorerst kein Zugriff auf «Touch ID» für Entwickler
Entwickler von iOS-Apps haben vorerst kein Zugriff auf den Fingerabdruck-Sensor «Touch ID» des neuen iPhone 5s. Marketing-Chef Phil Schiller bestätigte dies gegenüber AllThingsD. Phil wiederholte zudem, dass die Fingerabdruck-Daten verschlüsselt direkt im neuen A7-Prozessor gespeichert werden und nie auf einen Apple-Server geladen werden oder via iCloud gesichert werden. Die Fingerabdruck-Daten verlassen entsprechend nie das Gerät. Apple weist wohl insbesondere aufgrund der Abhör-Skandale des US-Geheimdienstes NSA auf diesen Umstand. Nicht zuletzt deshalb haben Entwickler — zumindest vorerst — keinen Zugriff auf «Touch ID».

AppleCare+ in Europa lanciert
Apple hat in der Nacht auf heute in ausgewählten europäischen Ländern mit dem Verkauf von «AppleCare+» für das iPhone und das iPad begonnen. In Deutschland und Österreich kann das neue Garantie-Paket von Apple zu einem Preis von 99 Euro erworben werden. Mit diesem Preis ist ein iPhone zu den von Apple genannten Bedingungen während zwei Jahren ab dem Kauf des Gerätes versichert.

AT&T agrees to LTE interoperability with smaller US carriers
Numerous regional US carriers have called for AT&T to support their 700MHz bands, which would give them the LTE devices and roaming coverage they need to compete with national rivals. These networks may soon get their wish: as part of an FCC-led deal, AT&T has agreed to support LTE on the 700MHz A Block frequencies held by smaller providers. iOS 7 Golden Master an Entwickler verteilt — iOS 7 Apps werden entgegen genommen
Apple hat in der Nacht auf heute die traditionsgemäss als «Golden Master» bezeichnete finale Version von iOS 7 an die registrierten Entwickler verteilt. Diese Version wird höchstwahrscheinlich auch jene sein, die heute in einer Woche — am 18. September — veröffentlicht wird. Der Build trägt die Nummer 11A465 und beinhaltet alle während dem gestrigen Special Event angekündigten Neuheiten. Zu diesen Neuerungen gehören die Funktionen für den Fingerabdruck-Sensor, die 64-bit-Architektur, die neuen Foto-Funktionen für das iPhone 5s, diverse kleinere Änderungen und die neuen Klingeltöne, welche gestern Abend ebenfalls kurz gezeigt wurden.
Ebenfalls seit dieser Nacht nimmt Apple von den Entwicklern für iOS 7 angepasste Apps entgegen. Damit soll gewährleistet werden, dass die ersten für iOS 7 optimierten Apps bereits ab dem 18. September im App Store verfügbar sein werden.

Just in case yesterday's news that Samsung is ready to enable new features on its Exynos 5 Octa chips wasn't clear, ARM has published a few demo videos to show what it can do. All three are embedded after the break, and the first one highlights how the Exynos 5 Octa 5420 can activate some or all of its 8 cores to maximize responsiveness while launching and using Quickoffice. Apple appears to have quietly discontinued its Cards app
Reports are trickling in that the iPhone 5 might not have been the only thing Apple discontinued today. It appears that Apple is in the process of discontinuing its Cards app.
The app was launched in 2011 and allowed users to order physical greeting cards based on their photos. Upon launching the app today users are now greeted with the message "The Cards service is no longer available." The message appears on both iOS 6 and iOS 7.
Users can still download Cards via its direct link to the App Store listing, but the app has already been removed from the list of apps made by Apple in the App St

Tim Cook sends email to Apple employees detailing new iPhones, iOS 7
Tim Cook has sent an email to Apple employees noting the release of the new iPhone 5C, iPhone 5s and iOS 7. In addition to touting the new products, Cook addresses the collaboration among employees at Apple that makes all their products and services possible. He also addresses why the company was not able to live stream the September iPhone event to employees.

Apple asking devs to submit iOS 7-compatible app updates before September 18 launch
Apple has begun sending out emails to developers urging them to submit their iOS 7-compatible apps today in order to get them approved before iOS 7 launches to the public on September 18. iOS 7 will feature the biggest changes to the iPhone's operating system since it launched more than six years ago. Besides the completely revamped UI, there are over 1500 new APIs and features for developers to take advantage of.
The company has also published a guide for developers who wish to take advantage of the new features the iPhone 5s will offer, including programming for the 64-bit A7 chip, optimizing graphics for OpenGL ES 3, and taking advantage of the M7 motion coprocessor and new Core Motion APIs.

Apple still offering the iPhone 4 in China
With the introduction of the iPhone 5c and 5s, Apple killed off the iPhone 5 and 4 in most places, instead choosing to keep the iPhone 4S around.

Apple has added a "space grey" color option to the iPod touch, iPod nano and iPod shuffle. The new color option for the iPods was first noticed by MacRumors.
The fact that Apple quietly did this probably means that no iPod refresh is set to come this year, as Apple would have likely held off on introducing the new color if iPods were to be refreshed before the holidays.

Apple Asks Developers to Submit iOS 7-Compatible App Updates [iOS Blog]
Apple sent an email to developers today, asking that they finalize their apps for submission to the App Store ahead of the public release of iOS 7 next week. Apple today announced its next-generation flagship phone, the iPhone 5s. As with all of Apple's iPhone updates, the iPhone 5s will come equipped with several impressive camera improvements, both hardware and software-based. While the iPhone 5s still uses an 8-megapixel camera, it utilizes a sensor that has a 15 percent larger surface area, which means it will produce higher quality photos in low-light conditions. Infinity Blade III to launch with the iPhone 5s on September 20th
The game chosen to show off the processing power of the new iPhone 5s today was none other than one of the most anticipated sequels on iOS yet: Infinity Blade 3. Donald Mustard, co-founder of Chair, which is owned by Epic Games, took to the stage to show off the third and final installment of the popular series.
Fan are in for a special treat as Infinity Blade 3 will feature eight separate worlds, each as big as the entire original game. For the first time ever, fans will also be able to play as two characters: Siris or Isa. The game will also feature a "massively social" co-op mode.
