iOS 7.1 soll bereits in Webstatistiken aufgetaucht sein. Das Update für Apples neues Betriebssystem wird wohl vor allem auf iPads schon ausgiebig getestet, obgleich iOS 7 noch nicht offiziell veröffentlicht wurde. Why following Apple stock is not for the faint of heart
The unveiling of the iPhone 5s and 5c precipitated a nearly 51-point drop in shares of Apple, falling from US$505 to $454 in less than a week's time.
The recent decline in Apple's share price serves as a prime example of why keeping a close eye on Apple's stock performance is often an exercise in confusion.
The impetus behind the large sell-off of Apple shares was the higher than expected price tag associated with the iPhone 5c. Investors have been clamoring for a cheaper iPhone for years, viewing it as the only means for Apple to attain meaningful market share. Never mind, of course, the fact that Apple continues to command the majority of all profits in the smartphone market.

Developers Now Permitted to Submit 64-Bit Apps for iPhone 5s
Apple is now permitting developers to submit 64-bit apps to take advantage of the A7 processor in the iPhone 5s, according to a note posted to the company’s developer site today. Developers with apps that function on both iOS 6 and iOS 7 will be limited to 32-bit development for the time being, but Apple has plans to support a single app binary for both 32-bit and 64-bit apps in the next month.You can submit 64-bit apps for iOS 7 today that take advantage of the power of iPhone 5s. Xcode can build your app with both 32-bit and 64-bit binaries included so it works across all devices running iOS 7. New Chat-Like OS X Email App 'Unibox' Enters Public Beta [Mac Blog]
Unibox, a new Messages-style email client that was first announced in August of 2012, is now available for download as part of a public beta test. The app is designed to make email more "personal" by organizing emails into a contact-centric view. iPads help Aussie police issue traffic tickets
If you get stopped for a traffic violation near Sydney, Australia, don't be surprised to see the officer pull out an iPad mini.
According to the Australian tech site Delimiter, the New South Wales police force has adopted the iPads as part of a four-week trial. The devices are running an app called "Mobile Notices," developed by Gridstone. It will help traffic officers retrieve driver history, photos, vehicle specifics and license information from police computer systems. The 4G/WiFi-ready iPads are locked down and can be wiped if any unauthorized access is attempted.

Let's face it -- a lot of people bought docks back in the days of iPods and the first iPhones. Basically, it made it very easy for people to blast tunes out of an alarm clock or speaker by just plugging the device in, and the device received a charge in the process. Now that the iPhone 5s and 5c have been officially revealed, it's time for a rumor post-mortem.
The biggest thing analysts (and pretty much everyone else) got wrong? The supposed "low-cost" iPhone. For years analysts have expected Apple to come out with an "iPhone mini" that will address the lower end of the smartphone market and allow Apple to expand its market share. With the initial public release of iOS 7 slated for this Wednesday, September 18, signs of future iOS 7.0.1, iOS 7.0.2, and iOS 7.1 releases are all showing up in web logs. The impending launch of the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s marks the first time that the iPhone will go on sale in China the same day it launches in the U.S.

According to an internal first look guide for use by Apple Retail Store employees (via 9to5Mac), the company is planning to implement a Touch ID demo app within iPhone 5s demo units that will show customers the process of registering a fingerprint for on the device. Bislang sind wir immer davon ausgegangen, dass 2D-Objekte auf Fotos für immer eingefroren sind und für 3D-Anwendungen nur sehr schwer herauszubekommen sind. Das könnte sich von nun an ändern. Die Entwickler Ariel Shamir, Tao Chen, Zhe Zhu, Shi-Min Hu und Daniel Cohen-Or haben mit der Software "3Sweep" nun genau das hinbekommen. Mit wenigen und einfachen Mausklicks können nun Gegenstände herausgeschnitten werden und lassen sich direkt danach weiter editieren. Data Quest Letec: Nach Fusion nun gemeinsamer Web-Auftritt
Im Mai vor einem Jahr hatten wir exklusiv darüber berichtet: Die beiden Schweizer Apple-Händler Data Quest AG und Letec AG wurden rückwirkend auf den 01. Januar 2012 in die Gesellschaft «Data Quest Holding AG» fusioniert. Da die einzelnen Filialen «vorläufig» noch unter ihrem Namen am Markt tätig bleiben, war die Fusion bisher kaum sichtbar. Nun treten die beiden Firmen aber erstmals auch im Internet gemeinsam als «Data Quest AG» auf. Nicht ausgeschlossen ist aufgrund der Grösse der Fusion, dass es in naher Zukunft zu einem umfassenden Rebranding kommen wird.

Apple accuses Samsung of trying to include "prior art" evidence in upcoming damages trial
In August of 2012, a jury awarded Apple US$1.05 billion in damages after finding that Samsung smartphones infringed upon a number of Apple patents.
Since then, the total award amount has been in flux. In July of this year, Judge Lucy Koh lowered the damages award by $450 million on account of jury error. Furthermore, a trial is scheduled for November in order to determine how much of the remaining $600 million balance should be awarded to Apple.

Touch ID und M7 machen aus iPhone 5s, das Smartphone mit den Sensoren
Apples iPhone 5s bietet mehr Sensoren als bisherige Modelle, auch solche, denen man einen zukunftsweisenden Charakter unterstellen “könnte”. Neben den bereits vorhandenen Sensoren wie Annäherungs-, Temperatur-, Umgebungslicht-Sensor und Gyroskop, sowie Bauteilen wie GPS, beinhaltet das iPhone 5s einen Fingerabdruck- und einen neuen Bewegungssensor, bzw. Coprozessor namens M7. Touch ID Der Fingerabdruck-Sensor namens “Touch ID” könnte eines der Kaufargumente des iPhone 5s sein. Das Bauteil ist im Home-Button untergebracht und besitzt eine Auflösung von 500 PPI, die den Finger des Nutzers in den oberflächlichen Hautschichten scannen. Die Technik stammt vom Unternehmen “AuthenTec”, das Apple 2012 erwarb.

Dazu kann über ein Mikrofon eine Stimme aufgenommen werden und über körperliche Berührung an den Adressaten weitergeleitet werden. Dafür legt man den Finger an das Ohr das Gegenübers. So kann man endlich tuscheln, ohne tuscheln zu müssen. Denn da der Klang nicht über die Luft übertragen wird, hört wirklich nur der mit, der auch dafür bestimmt ist. Mails verschlüsseln mit S/MIME
E-Mail ist kaputt. Mit verschlüsselten Mails kann man es etwas reparieren, sodass zwar weiterhin jeder sehen kann, mit wem ihr kommuniziert, nicht aber, was ihr kommuniziert. Mit GnuPG und S/MIME konkurrieren zwei inkompatible Verschlüsselungsverfahren miteinander. Eine leicht verständliche Einführung in beide Systeme und Verschlüsselung gibt es hier.
S/MIME
Als Apple-User ist S/MIME das System der Wahl, denn es wird von Haus aus vom Mac und iPhone unterstützt. Dafür erforderliche kostenlose Zertifikate, die ein Jahr lang gültig sind, kann man sich bei unterschiedlichen Anbietern besorgen. Ein dauerhaftes Zertifikat kostet allerdings Geld. Man kann sich allerdings auch selbst Zertifikate erstellen. Der gesamte Vorgang dauert nur 15 Minuten. Nach dieser Viertelstunde muss man sich nicht mehr mit Verschlüsselung auseinander setzen.

Apple entfernt Hinweise auf Siris Beta-Status
Apple hat in der letzten Woche alle Hinweise auf der Siri-Webseite, welche auf den Beta-Status des Sprach-Assistenten hinweisen, entfernt. Während zuvor an mehreren Stellen explizit auf einen unvollendeten Sprach-Assistenten hingewiesen wurde, fehlen diese Hinweise nun gänzlich. Zudem hat Apple eine Seite, auf welcher wichtige Fragen zu Siri beantwortet werden, vollständig entfernt. Dieser Schritt deutet darauf hin, dass Apple die Software für ausgereift genug hält, damit der Nutzer keine zusätzlichen Informationen mehr braucht. Siri könnte mit der iOS-7-Lanicerung somit nach zwei Jahren endlich aus dem Beta-Stadium entlassen werden.

TSMC bereits Zulieferer des A7-Prozessors?

Galaxy Note 3 DUOS: Zwei SIM-Karten für China

Der Vollständigkeit halber: In China kann man demnächst das Galaxy Note 3 auch als DUOS, also mit Platz für zwei SIM-Karten kaufen. Im Inneren arbeitet ein Snapdragon 800 mit 2,3 GHz Geschwindigkeit, ähnlich also wie bei uns. Interessant: Der interne Speicher liegt nur bei 16 GB, außerdem stehen etwas krumme 2,5 GB RAM zur Verfügung. Könnte einer Prototyp-Konfiguration geschuldet sein und ist für uns so oder so nicht wirklich relevant.
