3D printing iPhone dock adapters

A French 3D printing company by the name of Sculpteo has begun offering 3D printed iPhone dock adapters for third-party iPod speakers. The adapters allow users to use Lightning connector iPhones and iPods in older dock connector speaker systems. The beauty of this system is that it allows Sculpteo to offer these adapters for a wide range of older speaker systems without the upfront costs of hiring a factory to manufacture thousands of units. From a user perspective, it's advantageous because, theoretically, any old iPod speaker system they have could have an adapter made for it quickly so it's compatible with new Lightning connector iOS devices.

Lenovo bringing contactless payments to certain NFC-enabled ThinkPads in 2013

Select ThinkPad owners may be making online purchases simply by tapping a compatible credit card to an embedded NFC reader before 2013 is through. Filed under: Smartphones New York will neue Telefonzellen. Dafür hatten sie einen Wettbewerb gestartet und das Gewinnerdesign erinnert und stark an ein iPhone. Natürlich spendieren die neuen Telefonzellen offenes WiFi, haben einen großen Touchscreen, können vom Taxi holen, über Park-, Bus- und U-Bahn-Tickets ziehen alles was andere funktionale Kisten am Straßenrand tun, und ist Info-Point für alles. Obendrein basiert das Ding auf offener Sofware, ist upgradebar, superschmal und zeigt je nach Lage auch noch statt Apps Umgebungsinfos oder Werbung. Apple updates Xcode to support 10.8.3, squashes bugs

Apple on Saturday released a minor update to its app-building software for OS X and iOS, Xcode -- now at version 4.6.1. The most important addition to the program is support for OS X 10.8.3, with a corresponding update to the OS X SDK. It also fixes two specific issues: one where ARC-enabled apps would not launch on Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.x), and a performance regression issue in the Analyze operation. The update to the free app is available exclusively on the Mac App Store, where it has been located since v4.6.

Nest founder talks durability: 'It's not like a smartphone'

Popular iOS-compatible smart thermostat Nest isn't designed to be replaced every couple of years like the smartphones it can interface with. This according to Nest founder Matt Rogers, who touted the device's design for longevity in a "Fireside Chat" Saturday at Engadget's Expand conference. Feedly adds 500,000 users to service within 48 hours
