Apple seen working on both A5X and A6 chips
Apple's A5X chip might still be joined by a full-fledged A6, based on an investigation of code. A deep dig by 9to5 into the iOS 5.1 beta code has shown both a more modest upgrade, the S5L8945X (possibly A5X), as well as a previously undiscovered S5L8950X. With the existing A5 known as the S5L8940X, it hints that Apple has been working on two chips at once for the first time.

HTC reveals Media Link wireless HDMI adapter for One X and One S phones
Looking to accessorize your fresh HTC look? Then how about the Media Link wireless dongle for starters? It'll mirror the display from your One X or One S on any HDMI-equipped TV. We're told it'll be as simple as plugging the adapter into a free HDMI input and then performing a three-finger swipe on your phone. Let's just say we were underwhelmed by the first iteration of HTC Beats on the Sensation XE. But now it looks like the technology has been revamped for the latest One handsets, so -- once we've tasted the pudding -- we might just have to revise that opinion. ViewSonic's ViewPhone 4e hands-on (video)
The ViewSonic ViewPhone 4e -- the downmarket sibling of the ViewPhone 4s -- launched at MWC today and unlike the 4s, the 4e was essentially feature complete. This dual SIM set will ship with Android 2.3.x Gingerbread, a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 display, a 3-megapixel camera, and an FM radio. We had a chance to see it in both yellow and a truly garish pink hue and the housings are impressively solid and while they may not come in our favorite colors, they're at least fun. While not as tack sharp as the ViewPhone 4s' IPS display, the 4e looked just fine and the the quick UI tour didn't show any obvious slowdow

Best Buy offers $50 discount on iPad 2 models
Reader Alexander Wright dropped us a line this afternoon to point out that Best Buy is now selling all variants of the iPad 2 for $50 off the usual list price. Given that the Apple-authorized big box electronics retailer usually sticks to the regular pricing, this is a bit atypical. HTC One X announced at MWC 2012
HTC's launched a new flagship handset for Mobile World Congress 2012, the HTC One X -- codenamed Endeavour. Dipping into design notes from The Nokia Lumia line, the One X is a unibody device machined from white polycarbonate that uses Gorilla Glass to protect its 4.7-inch 1280x720 non-pentile Super LCD 2 display. Stunning outside appearances aside, HTC's newest features an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor for the Global edition and a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core for the LTE iteration. HTC unveils One series camera upgrade, gets dedicated chip, f/2.0 lens, 0.7-second capture
We're not even at the devices yet, but HTC CEO Peter Chou is very excited about the camera sensor inside that mysterious phone. The modul packs a f/2.0 camera lens, while the company's been busy crafting its own image chip to complement it, called the HTC, er, ImageChip to help clarify low-lit pictures and ensure a capture speed of under a second -- 0.7 seconds from starting the camera app, in fact. It also has the tantalizing ability to shoot pictures while recording continuous focus 1080p video. HTC unveils One S, arrives with dual-core power, engineered metal finish
HTC's new phone appears to be its middle-weight offering, but it's still with a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display and a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 inside set to do the heavy-lifting. Previously known to leak fans as the Ville, HTC's brought Ice Cream Sandwich to the fold, alongside the very latest version of its Sense UI -- 4.0 to match that Android version number. HTC One V unveiled: Sense 3.6 on ICS, Beats audio, 3.7-inch WVGA LCD
It's not often that device codenames serve as a direct mission statement, but with the outing of the One V, neé Primo, first-timers are getting an entry level HTC-welcome. The Ice Cream Sandwich-laden handset, running a Sense 3.6 overlay, hearkens back to the design of the Legend, with a black-ish gray, aluminum unibody, hardware keys (three for back, home and apps) and prominent chin jutting out below its Gorilla Glass-coated, 3.7-inch WVGA LCD display. Fake-iPhones: New Yorker Polizei verhaftet Händler
In der Metropole an der Ostküste Nordamerikas fiel einem Polizeibeamten auf, wie ein Händler außergewöhnlich günstige iPhone 4-Modelle angeboten hatte. Daraufhin untersuchte die New Yorker Polizei den Vorfall genauer und konnten Hunderte gefälschte Apple-Produkte in einem Laden sicherstellen.

Sehr überraschend kommt es angesichts diverser Leaks vor dem MWC nicht, Sony hat das Xperia U auf seiner Pressekonferenz vorgestellt. Sony plans largest ad campaign in 'many years' to launch new Xperia smartphones
Sony didn't just reveal some new smartphones at its Mobile World Congress press event today. Sony's press event is in full swing, and the first to arrive is the Xperia P. The phone follows on from the styling we saw on the Xperia S; but it looks likely to be the middle child, with a similar Sony-themed skin atop what appears to be Google's Gingerbread, still housing dual-core power under the hood. Sony officially debuts Xperia U at MWC 2012
Frankly, Sony hasn't done much to stem the flow of Xperia U leaks pre-MWC, so we can't say we were all too surprised when the handset made its debut on stage today in Barcelona. The 3.5-inch phone offers up a Reality Display, a 1GHz dual-core processor and five megapixel camera on the rear. It'll hit shelves some time in Q2. ViewSonic ViewPhone 4s hands-on (video)
Viewsonic's ViewPhone 4s was on hand at Mobile World Congress and we couldn't help but stop and check out this surprisingly likeable handset. First off, the 326ppi 3.5-inch IPS display is beautiful, very beautiful. Other notables include dual SIM support, a 5-megapixel camera, a front-facing cam and 4 gigs of storage that can be augmented via an SD card. The housing wasn't complete in the handset being shown, though the design is pretty sharp with the inclusion of a trapdoor on the bottom which folds open to reveal a SIM tray and the spot for expansion memory. The interaction with the Android 4 OS was really fast and perfectly smooth with

Apple issues Wi-Fi update v1.0 for Lion iMac users
Apple has issued an update over the weekend specifically for iMacs (late 2009 and newer) entitled Wi-Fi Update v1.0 that is said to correct an issue where the unit does not automatically re-connect to a known Wi-Fi network after waking from sleep. The update requires that users be running the latest version of Lion (10.7.3) and weighs in at 25.81MB. It's available for all supported OS X languages.

Hands-On: LG Optimus 3D Max

So richtig gezündet haben die 3D-Phones bisher ja nicht, scheint aber kein Grund für LG zu sein, seine Optimus 3D-Serie nicht ein wenig aufzufrischen. Das Optimus 3D Max ist schneller, dünner und sieht auch besser aus als sein Vorgänger. Auf der Softwareseite gab es allerdings weniger Fortschritt, denn es läuft noch immer mit dem inzwischen ein wenig angestaubten Gingerbread. ViewSonic ViewPad E70 and G70 hands-on
ViewSonic has kicked off the Showstoppers festivities at Mobile World Congress with a couple new tablets: the ViewPad G70 and E70 (pictured left and right). The twin tabs are specced just about the same save for a couple minor differences in bells and whistles and the E70's 150€ (roughly $200) price tag ringing in at half of the G70's €300 tally. Both tablets will ship running Android 4 ICS, feature 7-inch displays -- with E70 getting an 800x480 version and the G70 a 1024x600 unit -- 1Ghz Cortex A9 CPUs, and 3300mAh cells. We just took an opportunity to play around with the potential game-changer, and our initial impressions were quite positive. CoPilot GPS brings free offline GPS to iOS, Android in March
ALK has gone beyond its earlier preview to detail its free offline GPS app. Now called CoPilot GPS, it gives overhead driving and walking directions without having to search online in most cases. The map data includes points of interest, as well, which aren't always included in other offline-capable mapping tools.

LG Optimus 4X hands-on

Microsoft Speed Challenge – Windows Phone gegen Android und iOS
Es ist immer wieder interessant mit anzusehen, was sich Unternehmen alles einfallen lassen, um sich von der Konkurrenz abzusetzen und sich in einem besseren Licht zu präsentieren. Ziemlich bekannt sind unter anderem die “Mac vs. PC”-Videos von Apple in der Vergangenheit. Seit einigen Wochen gibt es auch eine ähnliche Kampagne von Microsoft.
Den Smartphone-Markt dominieren derzeitig eigentlich zwei Firmen mit zwei unterschiedlichen Betriebssystemen. Ein im vergangenen Oktober aufgetauchtes iPhone-Modell sorgte unter dem Codenamen N90A für Aufregung. Ursprung war die neue Foxconn-Produktionsstätte in Brasilien – die nun die ersten iPhones “made in Brazil” auf den Markt lässt. Ohne viel Aufregung hat Apple begonnen, die ersten in Südamerika hergestellten Geräte an brasilianische Kunden zu versenden. iBook Kopierschutz geknackt
In Cupertino dürfte man zur Stunde unter Hochdruck an einem iTunes-Update arbeiten. Denn wie The Digital Reader meldet, wurde erstmalig der Kopierschutz für Apples iBooks geknackt.Laut dem Bericht haben die hinter der App Requiem steckenden Hacker eine neue Version der Software herausgebracht, die jetzt auch das Digital Rights Management von Apples digitalen Büchern umgehen kann. Bislang hatten Datendiebe mithilfe der App vor allem Musik und Videos im Visier.

Leak: Nokia Lumia 610 mit Specs und Preis

Samsung, expected to make a quiet showing at this year's Mobile World Congress due to the fact that it doesn't have a press conference scheduled today or tomorrow, is actually projecting to offer a bit more buzz than the Ace 2 or Mini 2. Court upholds Fifth Amendment, prevents forced decryption of data
When our forefathers were amending the constitution for the fifth time, they probably didn't have TrueCrypt-locked hard drives in mind. However, a ruling from the 11th Circuit Appeals Court has upheld the right of an anonymous testifier to not forcibly decrypt their data. The case relates to a Jon Doe giving evidence in exchange for immunity. The protection afforded to them under this case wouldn't extend to any other incriminating data that might be found, and as such Doe felt this could lead to violation of the fifth amendment. Engineers at the University of Pennsylvania have flipped the switch on a new type of computer circuit. Unlike conventional silicon, the new chip uses light -- not electricity -- to perform its logic. Foxconn supposedly shipping iPad 3 in secret
Foxconn might be quietly delivering at least some iPad 3 units if a UPS manifest is an indicator. The contract manufacturer is believed to be shipping a high security delivery from Chengdu that would go first to Shanghai and then to Chicago, New York City, and Los Angeles, all done by March 9 and most no later than March 6. Security would be tight enough that even the time for shipments to be left on the airport ramp would be kept to a minimum.

A direct upsizing of the seven-inch version, it shares Android 4.0, the unnamed (likely Tegra 2) dual-core 1GHz processor, three-megapixel back camera, and VGA front camera of the smaller device. Das GT-P5100 Galaxy Tab 2 ist 10,1 Zoll groß und kommt mit Ice Cream Sandwich aka Android 4.0, ist so dick wie das Galaxy Tab 10.1N und hat dieselben kleinen Lautsprecher auf der Vorderseite. Was für einen Prozessor es hatte, konnten sie leider nicht rausfinden, ebenso weitere Infos zu den beiden auf dem Foto zu sehenden Smartphones (außer das eines davon vielleicht einen Beamer an Bord hat).
