Microsoft finds Google bypassed Internet Explorer's privacy settings too, but it's not alone
There was quite a stir sparked last week when it was revealed that Google was exploiting a loophole in a Apple's Safari browser to track users through web ads, and that has now prompted a response from Microsoft's Internet Explorer team, who unsurprisingly turned their attention to their own browser. In an official blog post today, they revealed that Google is indeed bypassing privacy settings in IE as well, although that's only part of the story (more on that later). Study: iPads improve Kindergarten literacy scores
Apple is pushing for iPad use in education, and several schools have taken up the charge. Now, a study of kindergarteners in Auburn, Maine has shown that students who use iPads score better in every literacy test than those who don't. The study focused on 266 children whose instruction featured the iPad. Those who used the device scored higher on the literacy tests, were more interested in learning and excited to be there. Panasonic's new Eluga smartphone: pretty phone, ugly name
We knew it was coming to that broad area we like to call Europe sometime soon, and now Panasonic's sharing the details on its Android-based return. Details about the 3.6 ounce (103 gram) device include that it's packing a 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540) screen that's wrapped in a dust and water-proof shell. Kommende iPhone-Generationen erscheint angeblich wieder im Herbst
Die japanische Webseite Macotakara will aus einer zuverlässigen Quelle erfahren haben, dass die kommende iPhone-Generation im September oder Oktober erscheinen wird. Dem Bericht nach will Apple wie schon beim iPhone 4S auch die kommende iPhone-Generation im Herbst vorstellen. Eine Veröffentlichung im Sommer soll es zukünftig nicht mehr geben. Stattdessen wird Apple laut Macotakara auch in den nächsten Jahren am Herbst-Termin festhalten.

Microsoft details SkyDrive overhaul, Windows 8 app and desktop sync in tow
We heard whispers of SkyDrive desktop applications a few days ago. Today, Microsoft confirmed just that alongside a Metro-style offering for Windows 8 and other improvements to its cloud storage tech. iPad 3: Retina Display und 8 MP Kamera sehr wahrscheinlich - Foto
Die Präsentation des iPad 3 rückt immer näher und entsprechend heiß geht es in der Gerüchteküche zu. Demnach wird Apple seinem neuen Tablet definitiv ein Retina-Display spendieren und zugleich die Kamera auf der Rückseite wesentlich verbessern. Die Vorfreude steigt.
Die Kollegen von „MacRumors“ genießen einen guten Ruf und werden in der Apple-Szene sehr geachteten. Nun hat die Quelle die Hoffnung auf eine Retina-Display beim iPad 3 geschürt, sollen sie doch aus der Apple-Produktionskette ein authentisches iPad 3-Display zugeschickt bekommen haben. Dieser soll eine Diagonale von 9,7 Zoll aufweisen und tatsächlich das von allen so heiß ersehnte Retina-Display aufweisen.

LightSquared's troubles continue, company defaults on $56M payment to Inmarsat
It's been a while since LightSquared had some good news to boast about, and it doesn't look like that situation's about to change anytime soon. The latest stumble for the company stems from its 2007 agreement with UK-based satellite operator and spectrum owner Inmarsat, which was due a $56.25 million payment from LightSquared that it has now defaulted on. iOS 5 Sicherheitslücke: Zugriff auf Adressbuch trotz Codesperre
Ausnützen lässt sich diese Sicherheitslücke wenn ein entgangener Anruf auf dem Lockscreen angezeigt wird und man während der Netzsuche versucht diese Benachrichtigung zu öffnen bzw. zu beantworten. Tut man dies also im richtigen Zeitpunkt, umgeht die Telefon-Applikation die Codesperre und ermöglicht so nicht nur das Durchsuchen und Bearbeiten von allen Kontakten, SMS und auf dem Gerät gespeicherten Fotos, sondern auch das Anrufen von (im schlimmsten Fall) teuren Mehrwertnummern.
Zum Zeitpunkt der Veröffentlichung dieses Artikel hatte Apple noch nicht auf unsere Anfrage bezüglich dieser Sicherheitslücke geantwortet. Apple dürfte diesen Fehler wohl mit einem baldigen Software-Update beheben.

SkyDrive leaks hint desktop apps, Twitter sharing
Two leaks late in the weekend have uncovered significant plans on Microsoft's part to expand SkyDrive. Gemind contributor Felipe Zorzo in checking SkyDrive's pages saw currently inactive options to download desktop apps for the cloud service for both Mac and Windows users. ABC New's Nightline will air what they're calling an "unprecedented" look inside Foxconn's Chinese factories that manufacture several Apple products. The report will air next Next Tuesday, February 21, but a brief glimpse is available now. A promotional piece shows ABC reporter Bill Weir entering the factory and having a look around. We also see the nearly countless people lined up outside in hopes of getting a job assembling devices. Sky Go finally available on a few Android devices, brings some new channels
It's taken about eight months, but Sky Go is finally available on select Android handsets (HTC Desire, HTC Desire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Incredible, HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S II) after launching on iOS last year. Chinese court rules to halt iPad sales
Proview continues to battle Apple in China's court system and has scored a win in the Intermediate People's Court in Huizhou. The court ruled that distributors in Huizhou, a small city in Guangdong province, must stop selling the iPad immediately. Proview has filed several lawsuits against Apple in China and is asking officials in 40 cities to stop iPad sales. Nook Tablet coming to Walmart with less storage and lower price tag?
One of the things that has kept the Nook Tablet from hitting Kindle Fire-like heights has been the price tag. Intel's claimed delay of Ivy Bridge processors may have been limited and contextualized in a rumor on Sunday. iPad 3: Bilder deuten 8-Megapixel-Kamera und “Apple A5X”-Prozessor an
Die Website Apple Daily aus Taiwan zeigt Bilder eines neuen iPad, das sich äußerlich vom iPad 2 kaum unterscheidet – das entspricht den bisherigen Vorhersagen der Gerüchteküche. Die Form des Gehäuses hat sich leicht verändert, was für etwas dickere Ausmaße spricht. Deutlich ist eine Vergrößerung des Kamera-Objektivs zu erkennen – was eine verbesserte Kamera andeutet. Laut Apple Daily soll es sich um eine 8-Megapixel-Kamera halten, die also mit der des iPhone 4S vergleichbar wäre.

Amazon said queuing 6-inch color E Ink reader, 10-inch Fire
A pair of leaks Sunday night have pointed to Amazon both growing its tablet line and dipping into color e-paper for the firs time. E Ink is supposedly getting orders for a six-inch, color e-paper display, Taiwan's Economic Daily News said. The production would start very quickly, in March, with production scaling up to as much as three million a month.

Neue Fotos, scharf und unscharf: das iPad 3 wird wohl wieder ein etwas angeschrägteres Gehäuse haben, zumindest wenn diese Fotos, die bei NextMedia / Apple Daily aufgetaucht sind nicht komplette Fakes sind, wonach es nicht aussieht. Verglichen mit dem iPad 2 ist die Kamera ungefähr an der gleichen Stelle, sie soll laut Apple Daily aber 8 Megapixel bekommen. Im WePost.me-Forum sind die in der Galerie zu sehenden extrem unscharfen Fotos von angeblichen iPad 3-Displays aufgetaucht, die bei Radiant Opto-Electronics für Samsung hergestellt werden und anscheinend beim Versand geknipst wurden. Bericht: Mountain Lion nicht auf allen Intel-Macs verfügbar
Das neue Betriebssystem Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion wird laut einem Bericht nicht auf allen Mac-Computern, die mit einem Chipsatz von Intel ausgestattet sind, laufen. Demnach sollen bestimmte Grafiklösungen nicht von Mountain Lion unterstützt werden, weshalb für die betroffenen Kunden womöglich nur ein Neukauf eines Macs infrage kommen wird, falls sie unbedingt die neueste Mac-Version nutzen wollen. Von der fehlenden Unterstützung sollen die Intel-Chips GMA 950 als auch x3100 betroffen sein, die in einigen Mac-Computern verbaut worden sind. Dies meldet die französische Apple-Webseite Mac Generation. So sind zum Beispiel die Macbooks aus 2007 bis 2008 davon betroffen, die einen Intel Core-2-Duo-Chip besitzen. Tim Cook macht sich über Microsofts Innovationslosigkeit lustig
Apple-CEO Tim Cook gilt im Vergleich zu seinem Vorgänger Steve Jobs als eher zurückhaltend und ruhig. Doch er bewies nun in einem Interview, dass er sich genauso wie Steve Jobs über die Konkurrenz lustig machen kann. Xbox Live soll zur Musikplattform ausgebaut werden
